Tag: @edwinasharma1 Note: I wasn't sure how you wanted her to be assaulted or what injuries she had so I left it general for you -- plus I didn't want to godmod haha! Let me know if you'd like me to edit anything! never make DECISIONS OUT OF FEAR. ONLY OUT OF SPITE.
The random number generator picked . . . 48. Your muse comes to mine after being assaulted. Slade was standing outside one of the many establishments he owned in Mayfair. Whether it was complete ownership, or one in which the owner paid him a fee. Slade did not engage in the activities of any such clubs, whether it be gambling or even drinking excessively. He would much prefer remaining sharp and having all his wits about him. His associate had gone indoors for a moment while Slade remained outside, his bodyguards and dear friends at a distance but watchful of him. Rueben remained outside to take in the fresh air, preferring it to the boisterous crowd inside which smelled of drink and cigars.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ It was at this moment, that his peaceful moment was disrupted when a woman came hurrying towards him. He looked at her, remaining still in his position, leaning his weight of one side against his cane as he always did. She looked distressed and as she came closer, noticed that she held some injuries. She noted him which meant . . . Slade had to help her. Otherwise, should she recognize him at a later date and accuse him of not coming to her aid, then that would warrant unwanted attention upon him. Thus making it more difficult to find a mother for his daughter . Damn obligations of etiquette and the like. He continued to stand still as she drew closer, letting her come to him rather than the other way around of him making any movements towards her.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ His eyes shifted to gazing behind her, to see if anyone was following her. Anyone being who he presumed to be the one -- or ones -- to have assaulted her in some way it would seem. When she was close enough, Slade made eye contact with her again. His expression was stoic, unaffected by her distress but his words would compensate. "What happened?" Despite the composed and even tone of them. Perhaps another would be far more expressive of compassion and concern. But as Slade was now expected to help her, he would require the full story so to know how best to proceed.

Edwina was always chaperoned everytime she went anywhere. Sometimes it was a blessing like a ball that she didn't know anyone but tonight she just wanted to be alone. To walk alone wherever she wished to go so tonight she took a chance, she snuck out just after dark. A few steps in the darkness alone felt exhilarating and soon she found herself getting further and further away from home without a care in the world. That all changed when she found it was getting dark and dark until she was unable to remember which way home was.
Trying not to panic Edwina stood on a corner trying to decide which way to go when a black carriage came by her very slowly making her heart race. Now she knew why she should be out here all alone. . That was the last thing she remembered until she woke up almost in the same place but her bag was gone, so was her jewelry and her dress was torn but she could not remember anything more than the carriage. When she started to walk she cried out in pain and then felt dizzy. Slumping down to the ground she started to cry. Hearing a voice she peeked up scared. I don't know what happened. I was walking....alone and there was a carriage, a black carriage. That's all I remember. Reuben Slade

Tag: @edwinasharma1 never make DECISIONS OUT OF FEAR. ONLY OUT OF SPITE. Slade listened as she answered his direct question, saying she did not know what happened, but that a carriage was involved. He looked over her. Dress torn, and she was not wearing any jewelry. Which was uncommon for a woman of her rank. Based on the quality of her dress, it was easily to deduce that she of nobility. And that therefore, any jewelry she wore would have been wearing, was probably stolen. His eyes went back to the vacant space behind her, watching and listening intently for any black carriage that would follow her.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ If she was left alive then it meant that the attackers took care to hide their faces. Or, that they ran out of time and she was a loose end. Rueben did not need to bring in any more criminals that were unauthorized by him or that he lacked knowledge of. Which, caused him to make a mental note to ensure that it was not any of his people who did this. Though, it was curious that someone desperate enough to steal, would do so from a carriage. Quick getaway he supposed.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Reaching into his pocket for a handkerchief, he took a couple of steps towards her, not getting too close but close enough where he could extend the piece of fabric with his gloved hand, for her to take with ease. "Would you prefer I send word to your family to come retrieve you from here?" Outside his establishment which . . . it would be best if her father came. It was not exactly a place best suited for noblewomen.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Or would you rather I arrange a ride for you to return home?" Either options were of course within her capabilities, and he would go with her preference. Not because he was the sort of inconvenience himself at the will of a woman. But because, he would have to go with her comfort level for the very same reason he was helping her now: if he didn't, it would most certainly come back at him from someone in the ton and it was very much avoidable attentions placed upon him. If she picked the former, he would have to remain with her to aid in her safe guarding. If he picked the latter, chances were he would have to escort her home to ensure she reached there safely. Anything to also avoid the involvement of the Bow Street Runners.

Edwina felt so confused, her head hurt and she could not remember anything. At least now she had found someone who was kind enough to help her. She took the handkerchief gratefully and dabbed at her tear covered face. At his question a fresh batch of tears ran down her cheeks. My father... is gone and my mother would be furious if she found me here. If you could give me a ride home I would be very grateful. I don't know what I would have done if you were not here. She was slowly realizing that all her jewelry was gone and then she looked down at her dress. It was torn and now she was afraid of what else might have happened that she didn't remember. Gasping for a breath she started to sob.

Tag: @edwinasharma1 never make DECISIONS OUT OF FEAR. ONLY OUT OF SPITE. She revealed that her father was gone and that that he mother would be displeased if she were to find her here. It made sense. After all, this was not a suitable place for an unchaperoned woman. But Slade said nothing of the sort. Instead, he gave a slight nod when asked confirmed that she would require a ride. He then gave a small motion to one of his guards who understood, and returned in mere moments with a cape. Slade reached for it and then held it out for the woman to take. Being any sort of hero was not exactly something Rueben strived for. He was not exactly some knight in shining armour wishing to save the lady and gain any credit in the process. He this more out of obligation and to ensure no path of blame could lead back to him.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But . . . she was crying. And he could offer no, physical comfort. Other than the cape. "I will accompany you." It was the most he could offer. No embrace of comfort, no soft words of reassurance in telling her that it would be alright, that she was safe now. Offered only was a cloak, a carriage and his company. He gave a short nod to his guard to ready their ride knowing he would have to provide her with further reassurance . . . otherwise this entire thing would be for nothing. "I am Rueben Slade," he introduced, assuming knowing he was of nobility and his name would provide some comfort that he would not do anything untoward. Withholding any questions until she was more calm, he watched his driver prepare the carriage which took only but a few moments, before motioning for her to go on inside.

Edwina was in shock still, she could not believe all that had happened this night and it was all her own fault. Why had she thought that going out after dark alone was a good idea? Now she was giving herself a headache sobbing in front of a total stranger, a very kind stranger. She gratefully took the cape from him and wrapped it around her shoulders as she nodded to him. She was afraid to speak fearing that she might start crying even harder. No right now she was going to get herself settled down. Forcing herself to take deep breathes over and over until she was calm Edwina then turned to him. I have heard of you, and I thank you so much. I am Edwina Sharma. She was happy to stand next to him feeling safe again as they made his carriage ready. In her head she was already hearing Mary and Kate's displeasure with her, they were never going to let her out of their sight ever again this. The thought left her feeling like a disobedient child.

Tag: @edwinasharma1 Note: Slight god mod of Edwina in the carriage! Let me know if you'd like me to edit it! never make DECISIONS OUT OF FEAR. ONLY OUT OF SPITE. She had heard of him. The fact that she did not seem to be wary of him showed that whatever she knew, was most likely due to his family name and relations she may know he held through familiarity with his sisters or the Duke . . . and not other matters of business. He took in her name, only the slightest familiarity in the family name which meant, there was no connection to them and his more business affairs. Which made sense considering that she did not have a father presumably alive. He gave another short nod in acknowledgement, his drive indicating that the carriage was ready for them.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He allowed him to help Edwina into the carriage, one of his guards handing him a flask. Rueben gave him a bit of a look while his guard just shrugged and smirked, before taking his position next to the driver at the front of the carriage. One Edwina was inside, Rueben used his cane to hoist his foot up and stepped inside, seating himself across from her. Once settled, the carriage started to move, knowing that they could not waste time in getting her home. Slade extended his hand to pass her the flask. "It is only water," he assured her, since apparently his guard and close friend could not find anything better to carry it in.

Edwina felt safe now, she had heard only good things about this man. She left herself relax once she was helped into his carriage and sge was trying hard to figure out the best way to thank him. Thank you so much for your assistance tonight, I don't know what I would have if you weren't out. She sank back in the seat fully relaxed or as relaxed as she could be knowing that the moment she got home both Mary and Kate will going to be absolutely furious with her.You are very good at rescuing this damsel in distress. How can I ever repay you? She said softly feeling forever grateful to him.
