This is due to a traumatic experience when he was a boy where he was ambushed by highwaymen. He was knocked unconscious and when he woke, he was at the bottom of a pile of bodies for a significant amount of time until he was found. Ever since then, he has avoided physical, skin to skin contact. The exceptions to this are those that he is extremely close to and emphatically trusts. [break] [attr="class","galhea"]INTIMACY [attr="class","galtext"]Rueben is not very expressive when it comes to intimacy, especially physical intimacy. As stated above, he only engages in it with those he trusts and has developed a strong rapport with. His daughter is the one exception to this as he has no discomfort holding her, kissing her, etc. But he tends to avoid any form of intimacy with those he is not particularly close to. [break] [attr="class","galhea"]ARMOUR [attr="class","galtext"]When Slade was under the pile of bodies, he was stripped of most of his clothing as it was expensive fabric and was undamaged during the attack. Because of this, clothing has become Rueben's armour; a form of protective and security. Removed of it, he feels exposed and vulnerable. For this reason, there are very few that have seen him in any state of undress. He is very private about changing his clothes, and refuses to allow anyone to see him or be around him when doing so. [break] [attr="class","galhea"]VOICE [attr="class","galtext"]Rueben seldom, if ever, raises his voice. He never yells nor shouts. His tone reflects any seriousness whether it is composed or holding upset. When Rueben does become incredibly angered, he goes even more silent than he already is, causing an unnerving, tense and unsettling air around him and others present, fearful of what he may do as a result of this intense anger. While it does not happen frequently, there are indeed specific things that will set him off. [break] [attr="class","galhea"]SAVIOR [attr="class","galtext"]There was an orphan who helped Slade out of his trapped position under the bodies. Slade was indebted to him and the two grew up together. This person is now one of Slade's closest friends and most loyal protectors. I purposely left the gender out because it could be any one of those outlined in my wanteds, but I imagine that they met this way and stayed together ever since. [break] [attr="class","galhea"]DOWRIES [attr="class","galtext"]Because Found Family is so important to Slade, he has secured dowries for any of his misfits siblings who may not have a high one (or even one at all) despite how uncommon/rare doing this may be within society. While he does not draw attention to it, he ensures his close friend(s) are aware of it when the time approaches for them to find a suitable husband. Slade also helps the families financially where needed (i.e if someone requires a physician, if there is an emergency, etc).
