Illness was not something he could protect his family from . . . but he could pay for the doctors to tend to him. And that was precisely what he had done. He had called for multiple physicians to tend to his brother, and one of which -- who had become friends of the Bridgertons indeed -- even offered to remain with him for as long as needed. That was when Anthony asked him to stay the night so that he may be here should Gregory take a turn for the worse.
âť– âť– âť– âť– âť– âť– âť– The physician kindly agreed and so he and his daughter would be here. It was not the first time they had come to the Bridgerton estate, but it was of course the first they would be spending the night. Anthony saw to it that they received all they needed and when the hour was late, everyone returned to their rooms. Benedict assured Anthony that he would remain with Gregory and urged his brother to get some sleep. So while Anthony left the room, he did not go to sleep. Instead, he went to his study to get some work done. It would be hours later into the night that he happened to glance at his father's watch to see how late it was.
âť– âť– âť– âť– âť– âť– âť– Deciding that he best check on Gregory, or perhaps attempt to rest for a few hours, he blew out one of the candles, and carried the other. Not bothering to alter his rather relaxed state of dress. As he was walking however, he saw a light flickering from one of the rooms. Curious to see who was up at this hour, he made his way toward it, fully pushing open the door with his free hand to see Helena sitting there. "Miss Bishop," he both greeted and questioned. "Is all well?" He inquired.

Staying at Bridgerton House is a change from her home at Marylebone. While the Bishops lived comfortably, Helena’s home is nothing compared to Bridgerton House. Not wanting to leave Bridget alone, her mother urged her to stay with her father. The youngest Bridgerton son, Gregory, is ill. She figured it’s a good time to actually spend an evening across town. In the loneliness of her bedroom, she took out a candle and lit it. There, she took out a rosary and started to pray for Gregory’s health. If she can’t be there physically to check him because she’s a woman, she could at least pray for his health. After her fifth Hail Mary, she was interrupted by someone. Anthony asked if everything was okay. A thoughtful gentleman when he is also worried about his youngest brother’s health. “Yes, my Lord.” She whispered. “Just saying a prayer for your brother. It’s the least I can do since I can’t nurse him with tea and soup.” She got up and walked over to Anthony. “You should get some rest too. It’s late. Plus, he is in good hands.”Anthony Bridgerton
