.:Name:. George Crane. .:Nick Name:. N/A. .:Rank:. Nobility. .:Age:. 23.
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Having grown up sporty, and become a soldier in his late teens, George is well built: tall and stocky, though gentle with it. Like most gentlemen of his station, he's always well dressed, though in later years could mostly be found wearing his uniform — it was expected of him, after all. His hair is somewhere between dirty blond and light brown, though he's never much cared about all of that. So long as it was as neat as expected, the colour hardly bothered him. .:Height:. 6'1. .:Portrayed by:. Sam Claflin.

.:Personality:. It had been said that, while he was a soldier, and took it all very seriously, George was always charming and gentle. Perhaps those weren't the first words he would use to describe himself, thinking himself to be more serious and dutiful than he truly was, but it wasn't untrue. He stood up for his brother, and would have stood up for his (planned) intended, had the opportunity presented itself; had he survived that long. .:Skills:. Looking out for others, shooting, horse riding, cricket. .:Weaknesses:. His father, overprotectiveness, recklessness, too quick to sacrifice himself regardless of the consequences.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Gloucestershire. .:Family:. Sir Crane, father (deceased), Lady Crane, mother (deceased), Phillip Crane (younger brother). .:Occupation:. Soldier. .:History:. Trigger warning: mentions of abuse.
As the elder Crane brother, there was always a certain level of weight on George's shoulders. He was barely a toddler when his brother was born, and his mother passed; there was no reason for his father to treat him with any more respect, but always did, perhaps only because he was the elder, because it wasn't his birth that killed their mother. Whatever the reason, George noticed the difference when he was rather young. He couldn't get away with everything, but he knew fine well that his father treated him far better than he treated Phillip — that was why he tried to step in, on occasion, tried to defend his younger brother. It only ever ended worse for the both of them.
Despite the way the Crane patriarch treated his children, George grew up knowing he'd eventually have to step into his shoes, or at least take on his title, become the man of Romney Hall. He had no intention of being the same kind of cruel man, but he took his duty seriously, knew that someday he'd have far more responsibility on his shoulder. That, however, did not stop him from growing close to Marina Thompson. Charming as everyone claimed him to be, he was no shameless flirt. He didn't find himself eyeing up every young lady in the vicinity, but instead found himself so drawn to her. Getting to know her, writing her notes, making her laugh...it was a happiness he'd never known at home.
When he was called to fight, he knew that was his first duty to fulfil. The one he expected to come before he became the man of the Crane estate, before he asked Marina to be his wife someday. He never could have imagined it would be the only duty he'd ever be able to commit to. When he'd promised his love that he'd be back for her soon, he'd meant it. And when he received a letter informing him that she was with child, he'd vowed that he'd return to make her his wife, to raise their baby together. He hadn't known then, scrawling promises onto parchment, that he wouldn't live long enough to see a single one come to fruition.

"All is fair in love and war,
but some battles leave
no victor, only a trail of
broken hearts that makes us
wonder if the price we pay
is ever worth the fight."
