She looks up to her half-sister Kate tremendously—even to a fault—because nearly everything that she is is because of her.

.:History:. Despite Edwina's soft nature, her beginnings are riddled in scandal. Many a year ago, when she was Edwina's age, her mother Mary Sharma was the season's diamond, too. Unfortunately, instead of marrying nobility like her parents, Lord and Lady Sheffield, would prefer, Mary fell for a single father below her class and the two fled to India to start their new life. From their union, Edwina was born.

One would think this would become a story of jealousy and hatred between now half-siblings, but that was never the case for the Sharma women growing up. They were each other's worlds. That only intensified after their father died. Kate taught her to dance, helped her learn instruments and languages. She spoiled Edwina and always made sure she never got anything less than the best.

Little did Edwina know that behind closed doors, deals were struck between her grandparents and her sister Kate on her behalf. When she was to become of age, they would move back to London and she was to marry a nobleman like her grandparents always wanted for her mother. Then, she would have access to the dowry and trust fund they put in place for her. It would set the Sharma women free, that was as long as everything went without a hitch.
