Anthony repeated the number and asked her if she was (and did not finish) and then if she wanted another child. Part of her wanted to lead in with asking him if he wanted another child. To see how he felt before she told him, but she knew that would not be fair of her. While she knew Anthony would love any child they had together, she also knew that he were honest and told her he wasn't sure that it would lead to unneeded guilt. Something she did not wish for him.
"Which question are you asking me?" She asked, with a tease in her tone. After a soft laugh at his surprise, she took pity on him and did not make him wait for long. "Should you think we tried hard enough, that it should not be a surprise." Despite her tease, she knew it was a surprise. A large one! So she would give him time to think and react as he needed.
Reaching for his hand she kissed his palm before bringing it to her belly, which was still flat but not as soft as it once was. As she was in a simple day dress there was no corset or stays to hinder him from feeling. "Four children." Half way to eight, but Kate had no intention of trying to do more.

Kate paused in the library at the Duke of Hastings country estate and blinked up at Anthony. His words were almost unfamiliar to hear. She had spent her whole life used to people fawning over her flawless younger sister. It had never occurred to her that someone would think her worth looking at in that way.
And yet, here was Anthony Bridgerton saying "I cannot handle the way he keeps staring at you". The words were heavy, and heady. For the first time in her life she felt the words spoke to her.
"He only wants to get close to Edwina." She whispered back, knowing that would be the only way anyone would look at her without knowing her. Which was why her season had been delayed since her father could only afford one season for both girls, and Edwina stood a better chance at gaining a husband. Her father had strict rules for the type of man that could marry his daughters--and Anthony Bridgerton, biggest rake in London, was everything her father didn't approve of.

Her husband offered her his arm, and Kate slipped her's in his, before using her other one to rest on his forarm; thus holding his one hand with her two. Looking up at him, she stayed quite for a moment and searched his face as if the tea would suddenly made him chance.
Maybe it wasn't strong enough? Or the girl was wrong? . . . Or it took a while to begin? "Fine," she told him, smiling and trying to pretend nothing was wrong. She pulled it off too, other then her silent beginning. Kate decided that she wasn't going to tell him right away. She did not wish anything to happen to the shop girl and maybe Anthony was unaffected?
Which was odd. He seemed to already be vicarious. She would have assumed this would be more so. "I was just thinking that you are good at this." Which she had, before the shop girl told her that she'd used the wrong herb. "They respect you deeply."

He was still sleeping? Kate walked into their room and paused. Good night! And morning, and afternoon! Anthony Bridgerton was laying on the bed with the sheets only just covering the lower half of his hips . . .
Yes. Good night, and good morning, and good afternoon all put in the same gift. Looking behind her she bit her lip and closed the door softly, not wanting his family to hear them. Dropping her purse and phone in the chair softly, Kate slipped off her shoes and tipped toed over to the bed. Standing over the bed and looking down at the (near?) nakedness, she almost went back for her phone but wasn't about to waist the moment.
One of his arms were folded behind his head, and the way to stretched the skin was divine! "Bloody hell," she breathed, before leaning down to kiss his lips, and begin biting at them. He tasted as good as he looked!

Married just a handful of days, Kate and Anthony were walking in the near by town to see the farmers under his care and shop in the local shops. Kate, who had lived very near such a village before, loved it. She made sure that she spent Anthony's money with ease there--even though she had not thought she would be able too. However, once she bought one thing from a merchant, she then felt the need to be fair to everyone.
It was how Anthony had ended up carrying some of the things she purchased before he had someone else carry it back for them. Needing a bit of tea before they headed back, Kate found a small stand that not many even visiting. There was a young girl there who made them some tea from the herbs her mother grew. Kate's tea was light, but Anthony ordered a different one since there was no milk to go in it.
After they had stood and spoke with others while drinking the tea, Kate returned both cups so that Anthony could finish the conversation with a tenet. Upon handing the young girl the cups, Kate noticed that her hands were wringing and she looked nervous. It took Kate a few moments of talking with the girl, and a promise she would not be in trouble before the truth came out.
Anthony's tea was made from the wrong herb, and he was about to have a very--very--hard day. Literately.

The Bridgerton country estate was beautiful! It had lush gardens, and seemed cozy, rather then pretentious. Kate had fallen in love with it the moment she saw it. And had been swiftly informed that it was "his" favorite place. Which for some reason made her happy to agree with him, rather then annoyed.
Kate had gone on a walk in the gardens when she arrived, loving the fullness and the sweet country air. When she entered the house afterwards she took her time walking and exploring. It was then she found herself in a study or library of some sort. There was a book on the table, and her fingers ran over it while she walked the empty room. Idly she picked it up, not thinking about the book as she turned it's pages.
That was when she saw it wasn't a book at all, but someone's drawings. They were good! Turning a few pages she came across one of Anthony Bridgerton's face. It was detailed and almost looked as if he was staring at her from the page. Having the chance to look at with without his knowledge made her lips part, and warmth creep up her neck. She stared at it, letting her eyes trail the locks of hair over to his cheeks and down to his lips.
Her fingers rose up to touch her neck, gliding the tips of her fingers down from her neck to the bodest of the gown. Goodness! What was she doing? Her fingers left her skin to touch the drawing, and trace his lips. His smile had always gotten to her. Even during their first dance. Her fingers traced his cheek and--
Something caught from the corner of her eye and she looked up with a guilty face, only to feel the color fall from it as she saw HIM--Anthony Bridgerton--watching her.

Anthony thought she meant Newton. Their very old, and dearest pet. Newton was her baby until she began having babies. Then he was her 'baby'. There was a difference in the words! Kate always said so.
"While I do love Newton, and could him among my children. I wasn't counting Newton," She teased him, letting her fingers run through his hair once, in a lovingly manner before resting them on his chest. Touching Anthony came so easy to her, and she loved that they could do this with ease. Though to be fair--that might be how she was having baby number 4.
The sounds of the two boys could still be heard though the window. She loved her sons, and if this was a son she would cry with joy! Yet if it was a girl, she would have two of each. That sounded nice to her. "I was referring to my children." All. Four. Of them.

Kate's heart was breaking. Breaking for her marriage, and their future. She wasn't even sure what had happened. She knew that she hadn't been his first choice, and their marriage had been forced--however it had seemed as if Anthony was finding happiness in it. He no longer avoided her unless it was time for bed, and instead they spent time together. It had been nice. He had even helped her solve the mystery of why she was so scared of storms.
He had made her love him. Not just a little, but with her whole heart. And then he had leapt from their marriage bed in the middle of the night (attempted to) dressed in haste, and ran out into the night. With no word to were he was going. Even after she asked.
Which was why it only confused, and hurt, more when she found him attempting to walk through their home--foxed. And talking to the floor about moving. He did not even seemed to notice her approach from the side. "Anthony?" She asked quietly.

Kate held her words in her lips when her newest brother-in-law commented on how she would make up with her husband shortly after his return. Mostly because she knew they were to be true, and currently her and Anthony's 'make up' ended up with them going to bed early and without speaking too the rest of the family--as they ended up going very quickly.
Instead she watched him close a book, and noticed he had been writing or drawing, or marking something. "No, a good day it still is. Despite irritating husbands." He also asked about her plans. "None at the moment. Did I disturb yours? Were you working on something?" She asked, jesting toward his book.
Kate did not know Benedict well, but he was easy to be around. Unlike his brother, he didn't rise her temper or leave her heart pounding so hard she lost her breath. His smile was easy and friendly were as Anthony's was devastating. She enjoyed her time with him.
