Tag: @misspenf Note: Better layout coming soon! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony had recently decided that it was time he look for a wife. Though this, was only communicated to his family. No one else. Upon the next season, he would confirm it to the public but for now . . . he was preparing for what this would entail. He had just recently returned home, having been informed that his mother and Eloise had gone out, and that they had a guest: Penelope Featherington. Anthony was curious as to what she was doing here and yet . . . it was not a thought he need dwell on. Recent news of Lord Featherington's death had quickly spread and Anthony for one, offered his condolences. He knew what it was to lose a father and it was an extremely difficult loss to overcome.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He supposed, one never really overcame it but rather . . . learned to live with the pain. Learned to cope. Making his way in the drawing room to where she had been directed, Anthony looked at her in her emotional state as she was laying on the sofa. Eloise nor his mother were here to comfort her. And Colin was on tour. Even still, he could not bare seeing her in such a state of distress and the fact that she had come here . . . meant she wished to get away from her own household. That she needed a safe space and he wished for her to most definitely find it here. Without a word, Anthony went towards her, sitting on the free space of one end of the sofa; he wrapped an arm around her and gently pulled her towards him so that she could nestle against his side. He wished to offer her whatever comfort he could during this horrible time . . . during this horrible loss.

Tag: @lucygranville Note: Assuming we're done this thread? i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony took in her words about her marriage being complicated but that she would not divulge the details. Truthfully, he did not wish to know them. The less . . . involved he was in the affairs between her and her husband, the better. All he cared about was his brother, and protecting him from this affair that would inevitably end badly. But she went on to speak of how she would not end it unless Benedict told her as such, and that essentially Anthony's attempts were futile. She placed a glass of drink in front of him but it remained untouched. She no sooner dismissed him, saying to see himself out.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Anthony remained seated for a moment, knowing that he would not overstay his welcome . . . but he did wish to make a few more things clear before he made his leave. "I came here to beseech you for the sake of my brother, to see the impact that this affair has on not only him, but my entire family." He paused for a moment, disappointed by the outcome. "But I now see that we can not reach a mutual understanding." He rose from his seated position to a stand. "I will speak to my brother as well as I do not intend on keeping this visit from him." There was no need for it and he knew Benedict would feel strain now that his affair was discovered by the Viscount. "I wish you a good day, Mrs Granville." And with that, he did as requested as made his leave from the Granville residence, hoping he would never have to return under such circumstances.

Tag: @ladyvlbridgerton & @francescab i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU As nothing was further said regarding Eloise's debut to society nor Aubrey Hall, Anthony presumed those subjects were laid to rest. Instead, his mother inquired about Benedict. "I do not know where he is," he answered simply. He did not keep intensive tabs on his brothers to know where they were at at all times.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Benedict and Colin were here when they were required, and out and about when they were not. So long as they did nothing to compromise the family name, Anthony was well and fine with it. "I am sure he is fine," Anthony added confidently. Upon Francesca's words, the Viscount gave a small smile. "You most certainly will," Anthony assured, for she would always have her family support among them.

Tag: @edwinasharma1 Note: Sorry it's short. Was really stuck on a reply of what to have him say or do in response. i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony gave a short nod to Edwina, knowing it was not her fault but rather, the Gentleman's who did not know how to drive apparently. But once the panic and worry truly subsided, Anthony would concede that it was indeed an accident. And that accidents happened. All he could offer was a simple response. "I can imagine." For he knew Kate and Edwina were close, and having seven siblings . . . he knew he would be hurting in seeing them hurt. "It is not your fault," he added in further reassurance.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony knew that Elizabeth was playing along with this and call it fortunate or misfortunate that it just so happened that the man she was trying to escape, was one who had issue with gambling and debt. Though, had he not, Anthony surely would have found another way to scare off the man. It was one of the indisputable skills -- or abilities -- that he had. He also did not like being called a liar, though made no indication of his displeasure at the remark. He looked at Elizabeth as she retorted to Martin's remarks, dismissing him and yet the man still denied the truth. And still refused to leave. It would seem the nobleman required more of a verbal push from the Viscount.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "You are fortunate Egerton, that all it currently remains is talk between the three of us." Anthony was of course referring to Martin's attempt to make this about what was appropriate or not. "For say it was written in a place that many had ease of access to. Then this simple talk, would indeed extend throughout the entire ton." Anthony was referring to Whistledown, or any gossip columnist but as the former was the most popular this season . . . others were always at risk of being exposed by her hand.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Strongly consider this advice I freely offer to you," Anthony continued. "Clear your debts as any man of honor would do, and find a woman to court who has no previous knowledge of your outward deception and misleading remarks." A way to deter him from returning to Emily, as that was the goal after all. "If you do so in haste, then such topic of conversation can lay to rest right here." For Anthony would not bring it up again, and the real underlying meaning being that he would not risk being exposed by another -- such as Whistledown -- on a much grander scale. His words held a natural authority to them, meant to intimidate and warn, without making any outward threat to the man.

Tag: @polinshipper82 i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony listened as she gave the man she wished to inquire about, and learn more of. As well as his estate home. Anthony knew the name, but did not personally know the family. He did not see them a great deal during the social seasons here in London. "I can not tell you with whom to court," he began to tell her. It was not his place or business to advise her in such matters. The choice was hers and her father's . . . and anyone else who may be effected by the decision.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "But I can say that I have heard no dishonorable or ill sentiments regarding the Crane family." That was far better than a family being a source of gossip. He knew only that were two brothers and as Anthony had previously stated, he was not personally well acquainted with them. "I can also say with confidence that I have not see either one a great deal during the social season," he continued. His answer to her inquiries more factual rather based on any personal opinion or judgement.

Should she have a plan to prompt a swift exit from this room, then he was most certainly open to hearing it. Especially as there was a risk of being heard if she did was not positioned to him so closely so that she may drop her voice to a lower register. He listened to the idea and while the thought of an open door was tempting . . . he was still concerned about the consequences.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Your mother, from what you have told me, is eager for this circumstance to lead to an inevitable marriage." Which, Anthony refused to get trapped into a marriage. "Even if she only heard rather than saw anything that would indicate a scandal, I fear it would be adequate enough for her to entrap us into such a union." And while Anthony would not be so blunt in front of her daughter . . . Portia Featherington was indeed a gossip. "And I am certain that is not what you wish either. Nor the risk of others discovering that you were compromised, no matter how untrue." The last thing he wished to engage in was a battle of he said she said.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY Anthony listened as William asked him whether he was fond of Elizabeth, wondering what answer he hoped to hear. Anthony could only offer the truth. "I am not that well acquainted with her," he told him honestly. Anthony knew the men in the Davenport family far better than the women in it. He had often been with his father when he met with Charles and thus, the sons would be around each other more frequently. Anthony withheld asking the same question for William seemed to want to say something, though the Viscount could see his dear friend's struggle. Had he been more hesitant, Anthony would have encouraged him and assured him that he could surely tell him anything. Without judgement. Without consequence.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Anthony listened intently, though remained in a relaxed position as William went to to say that she had challenged him at the ball; criticizing him as a man who did not care for women's sentiments and such. Anthony refrained from rolling his eyes . . . not because of William, but hearing what women often felt at such ease doing: criticizing. "Women are far too sensitive," Anthony began to say, a bit of a tease in his voice though . . . it held truth. With his experience practically raising four sisters, keeping the company of noblewomen, and the many mistresses he has had . . . he knew that such was the case.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "They all desire the same. To be given numerous compliments and praised endlessly. Anything short of that and we are quickly painted the villain." Especially as some women mistook politeness for affection, which could have occurred in this case. But Anthony did not know exactly what was said or done between the pair; he could only make such a conclusion based on his own experiences.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "You are a duke, and in your position comes a required level of formality and discernment." And he knew his friend well. He knew he took his responsibilities seriously, and that he would not be outwardly rude . . . for such behavior was not well received from a Duke. Though Anthony was not at such an elevated rank, even his role as a Viscount held many responsibilities. Dukedom was the the same in such regard: great responsibilities. Any anyone outside of these roles, could not understand the role nor responsibilities that came with it. Especially women.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ As much as Anthony cared for Siena, she never did understand his responsibility to his family and duties as Viscount. Women wished to be the only one in a man's line of sight. "Others outside your position do not comprehend the responsibilities that accompany that," he continued, summarizing his thoughts. "I have never known you to be of odious character," he told him with a bit of a tease, though meant his words genuinely. Willian was indeed a good man; an honorable one for as long as Anthony had known him. "Now whether you believe her or not, raises an entirely different matter." Did he truly believe a woman who had made such quick judgements about him?

Tag: @ladyvlbridgerton & @francescab i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Thinking of Francesca's debut into society was . . . daunting. Though Anthony made no sign or indication of the inward stress of it all. To find someone suitable for any of his sisters seemed like an impossible task. Finding someone for Daphne had not been easy and it had taken Anthony time to accept Simon was being anywhere near suitable for her. So to think, that it would need to be done three more times was indeed a nerve wrecking thought. "Thank you, mother," Anthony said politely, sincerely when she offered to lessen the load. "But it is also my responsibility to ensure she finds a suitable husband." And he would not dismiss not neglect that duty out of his own convenience.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Had Edmund been alive, the responsibility would have fallen onto him so Anthony would do what was necessary . . . in the hopes of making his father proud. When Francesca asked about inviting Daphne and Simon, Anthony easily had answer to this. "We most certainly well," he assured her. "Whether she is able to come is an entirely different matter." Since it would depend on Simon and Daphne's availability. But Anthony would be insistent, for it was important that they still make time to spend together as a family. "I'm sure there are moments where she does not," he said jokingly -- though not without truth. "I imagine the transition has its challenges with it," he added on. Going from a household of seven siblings, a mother and household staff that they had been raised by and with . . . to a new household staff, and only a husband. Yes, Anthony was certain it was both an enjoyable and difficult transition indeed.

Tag: @misspenf Note: Better layout coming soon! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony smiled as Penelope spoke of being able to taste it. "Then perhaps it best not to drink it in abundance," Anthony suggested, not wanting her to be too influenced by its effects. His words spoken in a protective manner, more than that of judgement. Penelope was as a younger sister to him and he did not wish to see judgmental eye of the ton upon her.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ She did not need any more of that than she already received, nor did she deserved their judgments. "Come now Penelope," he continued. "I am fairly certain we have been seen in each other's company frequently enough that no one would think it beyond friendship." It was no secret after all, that the Bridgertons and Featheringtons were friends. At least the children among each noble family.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY Anthony returned the smile, his arms wrapping around the Duke in an embrace, amicably patting him on the back a few times when easing out of the embrace. His smile remained as he took a seat on the chair across from him, motioning for the waiter to bring him another drink. "And yet you are still sober," he stated, knowing that that meant that there was indeed something troubling him or at least causing him to be lost in thought.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "What weighs heavy on your mind?" He asked, hoping his friend would be able to share the burden if only to not be coping with it on his own. Even if Anthony could do nothing to fix the issue, the least he could offer was a listening ear. But then the Duke asked a question that alluded to what could be causing William's . . . distracted mind. "The pleasure?" Anthony repeated both in statement and question, his voice holding a teasing tone towards his brother of heart. When Anthony's drink came he poured some in a small glass before leaning back comfortably in his chair. "Our families have known each other for many years." Having started with his own father before his passing and Charles. "Why do you ask?" Because Anthony knew that an explanation would be coming so merely offered the prompt to facilitate in William's addressing of it.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY This social season was far more stressful than any other he had participated in. Not for himself or the pressures to find a wife . . . but rather, because his first and eldest sister was not out in society. Attending events now had an entirely different level of stress. He had to ensure that no man that was unsuitable would be in his sister's company. Anthony after all, had incredibly high standards. While he was well connected, he made it a point to know of each gentleman's business, lest someone unworthy tried to gain his sister's attentions and affections. So yes. The daunting task of finding a husband for her was taking it's toll on the Viscount . . . though, much like anything else, he kept these stresses well concealed and suppressed.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He found himself at the gentleman's club, needing to get out of the Bridgerton household for a bit, and have a drink or two. He could not even seek out Siena considering how they had left things . . . and that was an entirely different emotional path that Anthony did not wish to dwell on. The only outlet really, was a drink. Entering the area, he nodded in greeting to the men who noticed him, but the viscount did not feel like being in their company right now. Instead, his eyes set on someone that he was far more keen on conversing with: the Duke of Wellington. The pair had met during their Oxford years and had formed a strong bond. To see a friend in sight, was a comfort indeed. Though the man seemed lost in thought, his drink untouched and Anthony's approaching presence unnoticed.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Standing next to the table, close to the vacant chair across from him, Anthony spoke to alter William to his company. "Are you waiting for someone to drink that for you?" Anthony asked, clear teasing in his voice. "It is good to see you, Wellington," he added on with a smile, genuine sentiment in his voice. The man was a duke, but Anthony felt that their friendship was strong enough that there was no need for formalities. Not here anyway. "Would you care for some company?" He asked, not yet sitting for he did not wish to impose himself on William. Especially if the man was waiting for someone else, or if he would prefer to be left alone with his seemingly deep thoughts.

Tag: @polinshipper82 Note: let me know if you'd like me to edit anything! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Gregory had not been feeling well as of late and it had set Anthony in a panic of concern. Illness was not something he could protect his family from . . . but he could pay for the doctors to tend to him. And that was precisely what he had done. He had called for multiple physicians to tend to his brother, and one of which -- who had become friends of the Bridgertons indeed -- even offered to remain with him for as long as needed. That was when Anthony asked him to stay the night so that he may be here should Gregory take a turn for the worse.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The physician kindly agreed and so he and his daughter would be here. It was not the first time they had come to the Bridgerton estate, but it was of course the first they would be spending the night. Anthony saw to it that they received all they needed and when the hour was late, everyone returned to their rooms. Benedict assured Anthony that he would remain with Gregory and urged his brother to get some sleep. So while Anthony left the room, he did not go to sleep. Instead, he went to his study to get some work done. It would be hours later into the night that he happened to glance at his father's watch to see how late it was.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Deciding that he best check on Gregory, or perhaps attempt to rest for a few hours, he blew out one of the candles, and carried the other. Not bothering to alter his rather relaxed state of dress. As he was walking however, he saw a light flickering from one of the rooms. Curious to see who was up at this hour, he made his way toward it, fully pushing open the door with his free hand to see Helena sitting there. "Miss Bishop," he both greeted and questioned. "Is all well?" He inquired.

Tag: @julieta i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony was starting to find these events more and more . . . stressful. If that could be the proper word used to describe them. He had been attending them for many years, however the time was upon them with his sister being out in society and that, added a whole other level of attending these events. Constantly on the watch for unsuitable men for them, constantly ensuring they were well chaperoned. And then when he did intervene, they would grow irritated with him. Did they not see it was for their own good?
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But alas, he was doing what he thought best and so he was constantly focused on which male would seek the attention of his eldest sister. Far more focused on that, rather than finding his own match -- much to his mother's chagrin. In fact, Anthony had been so distracted, he had bumped right into a young woman. Quickly regaining his composure, Anthony looked at her as she apologize. He offered a polite smile and nod in greeting. "The fault was mine," he told her. "It is most fortunate that neither of us were holding a drink," he added on lightly. That most certainly would have led to more disastrous results.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony had quick business at the Davenport estate with Charles; a task that he hoped would be an in and out as he did not intend to take up much of the marquess's time. In fact, he had been walking through the hall already on his way out when he heard his name. Immediately stopped he turned to see Elizabeth who was standing at the threshold of the door. He made his way closer to her as it seemed she was unable to fully exit the room. He assumed that she was going to ask about the whereabouts of his sisters or brother, so was prepared to answer as they did not accompany him . . . but instead, she asked for help.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He just looked at her, as she added a plea that seemed a bit . . . desperate. Well, surely she must have been if she was asking him for help. The fact that he had sisters made him rather . . . familiar with this tone. This expression. For all he needed to do was glance past Elizabeth to see none other than Martin Egerton sitting comfortably. Ah, yes. Now it all made sense. Anthony looked back at her, seeing that expression on her face and . . . he need not ask anything more nor did she need say anything more. He was once accused by Daphne about scaring away suitors but it would seem in this instance, his ability to do so was at the request of another. Ironic how that happened. He gave Elizabeth the slightest of smiles in understanding, before taking action.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Martin Egerton," Anthony nonchalantly greeted as he a walked past Elizabeth, casually standing a seat across from where Martin was. He would wait for Elizabeth to rejoin them, and take her seat before he did the same. "It is rather good to see you, as we missed you at the club the other night." He could see Martin stiffen and Anthony paid no attention, casually leaning back in his chair. The man before him was a boastful one so Anthony knew just what to say to effectively run him off. "My sincere condolences, Egerton. I can not imagine suffering such a loss at the tables." Gambling. Anthony made it a business to know about the men in the ton should their gaze ever rest on one of his sisters. Egerton would not have been permitted to set one foot in his house.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I do hope you were able to settle your debt." For a man with as much pride as Martin, this would indeed embarrass him as Anthony revealed such with a level tone, a very . . . matter of fact tone as he allowed his intimidation to full Miss Davenport's request. "But of course you were," he added on. "For a gentleman of honor would not court a proper lady, such as as Miss Davenport without ensuring his debts were fully paid." And the Viscount knew for a fact, that they were not paid, the seriousness of the implications of his words known from the way he looked at the man and the tone of his words.
