Tag: @ladyvlbridgerton i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony gave a small smile of amusement when their mother mentioned that it was surprising Colin had not responded given his love for food. "Perhaps he will miraculously appear ones the aroma of it fills the estate," Anthony joked, taking his seat at the end of the table. "No matter, a small family gathering will still be nice," he said contently. "How was your day, mother?" He asked, wondering how she spent her time today.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU It was a fair point that Simon had made, for Anthony was not entirely certain as to what word he would use either. Though he was well aware that Hastings had not missed the sarcasm in it. Simon knew Anthony quite well. Better than most. He glared at his brother in law, though not the same murderous glare that he otherwise perhaps would have given him . . . one that he would have been faced with during a dual. So while not as intense, it was a glare none the less. "Or perhaps you should show restraint in an otherwise public room when you are expecting company." While recognizing it was Hastings estate . . . Anthony still could not help but argue back, for this was his sister that he had the misfortune of laying his eyes upon. He did not want to ever have to walk in on anyone but . . . this was his sister!

Tag: @francescab Note: Better layout coming soon! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony kept his eyes shut, orientating himself after hitting his head as she told him that she knew she was running late, but to knock. "Or better yet, lock the door," he argued back. While he knew there could be many reasons as to why it was not locked . . . he still could not help but state it. "Is anyone else in the room?" He asked, inquiring mainly as to whether her maid was present or not. He had been so distracted and now, having concealed his vision, had not even had the chance to see if anyone else was present. For if there was . . . then this this rather embarrassing moment would certainly be escalated.

Tag: @phillipaf i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony continued to smile as Philippa stated that she felt as if she barley knew who he was. Such a statement was indeed fair, and true. He did not spend an excessive amount of time with the Featheringtons. He crossed paths with them when -- as Philipa had stated -- when they were with Eloise, or even Colin at times. Or when Anthony would offer to dance with one of the Featherington daughters, his mother having instilled such values in her sons; to treat the wallflowers well and ask them to dance where others may not. But having this one on one conversation with a Featherington daughter . . . was a rare occurrence.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Indeed," he said in agreement. "Now that our families will be united through marriage, perhaps that will change." And that they would all be seeing much more of each other. With Marina and Colin now engaged. He knew Portia was already boasting about the upcoming marriage throughout the ton, though Anthony stood by his stance of the wedding not happening too hastily. Once she sat down, he did the same, giving a nod when she assured him that he was not interrupting.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I am relieved to hear that." Though upon his business here . . . he could easily answer the question without boring her with the details. "I came to speak to Lord Featherington regarding arrangements of Marina and Colin's engagement." Such as the dowry, and where they all stood on the date . . . as well as where and who Marina's father was as Anthony should like to meet her parents as well.

Tag: authorflies Note: HAHAH I am SO here for it! Anthony might not be, but I sooo am! I adore Eloise for it!! I mean, who doesn't?!?! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Eloise stated that she would have to ask Daphne and their mother tomorrow and Anthony could not agree with her words more. "Yes, please do," he wholeheartedly encouraged. At least that way, she would not be asking him. After all, Daphne and his mother may very well enjoy such conversations. Far more than he. Eloise's interrogative ways was certainly no surprise to any Bridgerton, so Anthony rather she direct it to someone who may be all too eager to answer them. And yet, her questions continued.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The first one, was easier to answer though it caused Anthony no pleasure. "She did," he said, knowing that the displeasure was evident in his voice. Hastings was like a brother to him . . . but not the kind of man he wished for his sister, considering the man's lifelong refusal to get married. And, being a rake of course. Anthony did not care if it was hypocritical. He tended to lose logic at times where protecting his family was concerned. "Perhaps you should join us," he said teasingly, knowing it was not possible halfway through the season. Yet, he could not help but tease her for it . . . knowing how little she enjoyed such grand affairs.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Then you will find all answers to your questions. Rather than inquiring about every detail," he further teased. "I am sure you will find a way," he assured her. Turning towards her as his gaze fell to the book she held, he turned his head straight forward before continuing. "But please for God sakes, do not bring a notebook with you when you start attending balls." Words meant in jest and yet . . . there was indeed truth to them in his warning of her not to take it along with her. He slightly raised an eyebrow at her last question, wondering what she was getting at. "I may very well regret asking this but . . . suspicious how?" He inquired.

Tag: @ladyvlbridgerton i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony had just arrived home, ensuring he was on time. He would have stayed later at the gentleman's club however his mother has specially requested that he be home for dinner so that they may eat together. With Daphne married and off with Simon, and Francesca having recently returned . . . it would indeed be nice to have them together for a nice meal. He made his way into their home, passing his hat to the butler as he made his way to the dining room, seeing his mother already there . . . and it also seemed that he was the first to arrive. "Mother," he greeted, approaching her and giving her a light kiss on the cheek in greeting. "Who else will be joining us this evening?" He asked, unsure how many of the siblings would be in the room tonight.

Tag: @francescab i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony's hands hovered on either side of her as she attempted to sit up, ensuring she was still stable and balanced upon the sofa. His eyes focused on where she touched her forehead, assessing the injury. "Most likely," he agreed, not about to lie too her but also . . . relieved that it was not worse than it currently was. He already hated seeing his sister in any sort of pain. "No one will dare use what happened here as a source of gossip," he stated, angered by merely the thought. For if it were to spread as a source of humour or entertainment . . . then Anthony would most certainly blame one of the gentleman that was here today. Whoever dared spread it. Even if he had to hunt him down. "And if they do, they will be met by a facer," he promised, a tease in his voice although . . . it was not uncommon for Anthony to take such physically aggressive measures when anyone spoke against his family.

Tag: authorflies Note: awwww she softened him up and won him over!! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony intently listened to Eloise as she spoke of understanding it was his duty, and that she did not wish to be in an arranged marriage. Anthony knew that . . . he did not wish for that either. He had learned it the difficult way with Daphne and Nigel. That a husband for each of his sisters had to be more than simply suitable. Though, he would never feel that any man was good enough to wed them. He remained silent as she continued, truly listening to her words.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Yes. She was not like Daphne. The two were quite different especially in their approach to their season. And while Anthony did not compare them in any fault, for he loved them both the way they were, he knew that Eloise's priorities and preferences were far different than their eldest sister's. Eloise was not the typical noblewoman and he would not change a thing about her. "Any man should count himself lucky to be in your company, Eloise," he began to say honestly, softening his tone and approach as he listened to her. Hearing her, understanding where she was coming from.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "And I . . . suppose I will ease in any pressure. I do not wish for you to simply settle. I wish for your happiness. Especially if that entails being with someone you want to be with." If his siblings marriages had proven anything, it was that. Seeing how happy they were with their husbands and wives. He wanted to see Eloise experience that happiness too. "You have my trust," he assured her, taking her hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze. "So long as you will try," he teased, acknowledging her own assurance that she was trying.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "And at any ball, should you find yourself in undesirable company, I will be at your side in but an instant. If of course I am not already there." Because he would not have any man near his sister if they did not wish him to be. After all, they still had to go through Anthony for he would not ease his protective nature. But merely . . . his willingness to let his sisters decide for themselves. Keeping a smile upon his lips, he slightly raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Was his smile truly that bad?" He asked a bit jokingly, though not without truth, referring to the proposal that had prompted this very conversation.

Tag: @polinshipper82 i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony listened with great attentiveness as the doctor spoke of Hyacinth's condition. He nodded in understanding, relieved to hear that it was a stomach bug yet as previously recognized, he would only truly rest once she was completely recovered and back in full health. "How long do you believe it will take her to recover?" Anthony asked, hoping to get some sort of timeline in his mind, for if it exceeded the expected time of recovery . . . then there would certainly be cause for concern.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Anthony turned to Helena when she expressed her gladness in hearing Hyacinth's hopeful recovery . . . and offered to bring crème brulee for her to try. "That is most generous of you," he said with a smile. "And hopefully, not too great deal a challenge considering how many of us there are," he said somewhat jokingly, though there was truth to his words. They were after all, a house of nine. "It would be a pleasure to have you visit us under better circumstances, and as guests." Not hired due to illness or injury.

Tag: @phillipaf Note: Better layout coming soon! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU There was an afternoon tea at the Cowper residence today. The family was known for their abundance of wealth -- for they made no secret to showcase it. Their garden was quite large and decorated for the event where families of the ton were invited to attend. The Bridgertons were no exception and of course Anthony had to accompany his mother and siblings who came. As soon as they entered, Lady Danbury greeted them and Anthony took the opportunity to slip away from his mother's side before she was able to force introductions between himself and some of the ladies. Instead, he took an offered glass of lemonade from one of the servers, taking a sip as his eyes scanned the crowd and he mentally prepared himself for mingling amongst high society.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony listened as Simon assured him that he would not give him any more reason to doubt . . . and his following words causing Anthony's heart to swell with sentiment at them. He remained silent, absorbing the meaning of them. That despite everything, they were still brothers. Now solidified through a union of his marriage to Daphne. "Before you do, I would like to say something," he finally began. Yes. This would be a perfect opportunity for the two of them to talk things out in a clear, calm manner. Able to articulate now what they otherwise struggled to do.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I wish to, apologize." Which, was not something Anthony did often but were they to truly put the past behind them, he needed to do so now. Simon deserved that much at the very least. "I should not have said those things to you." About his family, about his father. Anthony had gotten involved in his and Daphne's business . . . and anger took over his better judgment. Which, had resulted in a physical fight. "I am sorry," he told him, the Viscount's gaze resting on the Duke's so that he would know he was speaking from the heart. Taking a sip of his drink, he swallowed and then spoke once more. "Now please, continue," he encouraged Simon, as he had said that he wished to explain more than he was otherwise able.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Bloody hell. He knew that some women relished in argument; disputing a point and when the other agreed to it, suddenly changing their mind . . . yet this was rather confusing. No, technically affection was not required for a marriage, but did they just not spend the past several minutes discussing the importance of affection? Did he not assure her that it was important? Did he not agree with her? And yet, despite it all . . . she seemed to be claiming that he did not understand her point. Perhaps an attempt to make him feel foolish, mumbling the words which, rather disappointed Anthony. He had tried -- and stated -- to be as clear be it his intentions or what it would entail. Yet now, she was mumbling words of him missing her point when he internally tried to understand what it was that he had not agreed with.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ This conversation was meant to be a far easier one. One where he stated his intentions to see if she would agree or deny them. And yet, they were already having trouble with communicating. It was most concerning and Anthony now knew he would have to watch his words carefully. Guard what he said. Which, was not entirely uncommon for him but deep down . . . how he longed for a wife that he could just be at ease with. But all these inner workings of his mind stayed inside, and outwardly, was the perfectly composed Viscount that he always appeared to be. That he had to be. "There is no need to mumble, Miss Davenport," he told her calmly, not appreciating the words nor the tone. But nor was he impolite to argue, so he would leave it at that. An opening that should she wish to speak more clearly to rectify the misunderstanding, he would gladly take part.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ She then began to speak of his prioritizing his family. Yes. If there was one thing everyone in the ton knew of him it was his fierce protectiveness he felt for his family. His willingness to do anything and everything for them. And even then, the extent was not even common knowledge. The dual, being a perfect example. He listened as she continued and then . . . rolled her eyes. At him? At the subject? Was it an indication of, judgement? For one to say that he should prioritize his happiness was quite easy to say. Yet when he had, with Siena, he was told by his mother to start acting like the head of the household; like a Viscount.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ So no. It was not so easily done. "Anyone who is not in my current position--" One in which they were Viscount at the age of 18, where they took care of seven siblings, helping raise a few of them even, and who now had the responsibility of ensuring each one found a suitable spouse and were well taken care of -- "Can not understand what it fully entails." Anyone. Inclusive of his siblings. Yes; they opposed him, criticized his decisions, judged his actions . . . yet they did not understand the full extent of his role and the expectations that any head of household had to meet. And he would not allow any selfishness to interfere with that. After all, his time in this life was temporary. Any chance for happiness was limited. Which was why he knew it was important to marry, and soon.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "My family, will always be my priority," he told her honestly, surely. And he could never be with someone who did not understand nor accept that. His future wife, and any children they may have would also fall into this category. But even after marriage, he would not abandon his family of blood. It was something Siena did not quite fully understand and one of the many reasons their relationship had reached its inevitable end. He wanted to question the cause of her rolling her eyes, yet decided against it. Perhaps the less he said on the matter, the better. As he previously recognized, he would need to choose his words carefully. Fortunately, there was hope when she agreed with his point, and with that, Anthony hoped the conversation would take a more positive direction.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He detected the tease in her voice, but he did wish her to know one thing about this, proposed arrangement. "My intentions are most honorable," he assured her. Though he loathed the subject of Whistledown. And refused to make any decisions based on whether she may or may not find out. Everyone held the anonymous scribbler in such high regard . . . Anthony merely thought it exhausting, especially having to hear about it in his household.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I have nothing to hide from the ton, and I believe it would not be scandalous enough for Whistledown to report on," he added with a slight smile, in attempt to keep the tease of the subject of Whistledown. On the subject of her father . . . he planned to speak to him today but changed his mind, glad he had not said out loud when he would speak to him so not to sound indecisive. "Perhaps tomorrow. That will allow you some additional time to consider things before I speak to him." For he knew it would be more difficult to immediately decline once her father was aware of what was happening.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Her question of whether he believed he could ever hold affections towards her was . . . was very typical of a woman he supposed. The desire to hear words of affirmation. Words that would make them feel flattered, desired. Wanted. He had enough sisters -- and had had enough mistresses -- to know that this should be considered quite typical and expected. "I would not have proposed this otherwise," he assured her. "I do not intend to have a wife with whom I am not affectionate with." Despite his vow to not fall in love . . . affection was something entirely different.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "But if this question was so easily answered, whether you could hold affection towards me or I you, then we would not need a period of time to get to know each other." As per his earlier statement of affection being something developed. "Where that time, may make such answers more clear." And as expected, every woman wished to be courted. But he would not do so without clear intentions of his actions. The courting was merely formality . . . of course with the exception for those who were caught in a compromising position. When she told him that she would have mentioned if there was another, he gave a nod of acknowledgement, glad that they could cross this off as a potential obstacle. "I wish only to be clear in these matters," he stated, wanting her to know that he had no intention of playing games . . . and hoped for the same expectation from her.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ When she said that it was his happiness that concerned her, he was not quite sure he understood. "How do you mean?" He asked. For he knew himself, that his happiness was irrelevant. He would be dead at a predetermined age. So long as he could give his future widowed wife stability, along with any children they may have . . . then his expectations and duties would have been fulfilled. He listened to her attentively as she spoke of what decent conversations could result in and more importantly, her thoughts about marriage.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ If nothing else, it would work in Anthony's favor to convince her that this was a good union. The closeness of their families was after all the reason that he had set forth this possible proposal. "It is not a silly notion," he assured her. "I too share the same sentiment where family is of the utmost importance." His family was his everything. For whom he lived and breathed for.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "It would seem then, that this could be indeed a good match with such things considered. For I have no desire to withdraw you from you family. With the closeness of both our families, it may very well seem impossible to do so." A bit of a joke, but it held truth. "In fact, if nothing else, it is as I said earlier. This will bring our families even closer together." Rather than draw them apart, or part her from her own which as she indicated, was not something she desired.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ When she rose from her seated position, he did the same thing, joining her to a stand. "As you desire," he told her, knowing he was indifferent as to whether they did this in the country or the city. For Anthony, he had nothing to hide. But if it would bring her further ease and comfort, then it was a rather easy request to accommodate. "I will speak to your father about this as well to ensure he is of agreeance." And that he would not oppose the Viscount courting his daughter.

Tag: @polinshipper82 i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony listened as Helena began to tell an experience she had about when she was young and injured, as well as the concern her brother had for her at the time. The story took a dark turn when she spoke of how her brothers had all been killed. Anthony had only been faced with one tragic death in his immediate family, so he could not even begin to imagine how devastating it must have been for her and her family to lose so many. So tragically.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I am quite sorry to hear that," he said, with genuine condolence. Even if it happened some time ago -- though he could not be certain of course -- the loss of ones family member, or in this case multiple, was always keenly felt. "I can not even begin to imagine how difficult that must have been for you and your family," he added, speaking aloud his earlier thoughts.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "And it always serves as a reminder to hold the family members you do have close." At that moment the doctor had walked in. Anthony immediately rose from his seated position. Though Mr. Bishop's smile was indeed assuring, Anthony knew he would not be at ease until Hyacinth was fully recovered. "How is she?" Anthony asked, hoping for a detailed -- over detailed even -- report on her wellbeing.
