Sleep seemed to evade her on this evening. It was not as if she had many things on her mind, except for her ever growing feelings for her husband. Who would have ever thought that would be a problem? Her life had been kept the way she wished it for the most part which was all Elizabeth had ever really wanted. There were duties she was given as the new Viscountess which she took seriously because she knew they were important to Anthony and important to the family. Elizabeth could certainly be considered someone who did not take some things seriously and could be childish at times but with something like this, she was the perfect lady she had been raised to be. In fact, Elizabeth believed she excelled when it came to being a Viscountess and running a household, which were both things that quite surprised her. She handled it with grace and ease but her responsibilities were not things that kept her mind wandering tonight.
Not wanting to wake Anthony, Elizabeth glanced over at her husband in bed. She had tried her bess not to toss and turn but found that she needed to stretch her legs. Moving as quietly and gently as possible, Elizabeth removed herself from bed and grabbed her dressing robe off the chair. Her feet carried her towards the library where she would try to read until her mind settled down. Although, she was half-expected to not even be able to focus on the words in whichever novel she picked out. Still, she tried her best and grabbed a book, settling into one of the chairs and tucking her legs up close to her body.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony was not a particularly deep sleeper. But sharing a bed with his wife every night had been a rather . . . easy and swift transition. The desire for them to be in the same room indicative of the bond that they shared. For neither seemed to hold a desire to be in separate spaces. And Anthony found her presence to be rather . . . comforting. At the very least. So when he felt the bed shift a little by her light weight, he belatedly opened his eyes, catching a glimpse of her back as she stepped out of the room.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He lay there for a moment, slow, drawn out blinks due to having just woken up from sleep. He turned to the side towards the bedside table, reaching for his precious pocket watch as he opened, holding it close to him so that he could read the time in the darkness. Bloody hell it was late. Deciding that he would not be able to drift back to sleep without her next to him, he proceeded to get up from the bed. Yes, her presence was indeed something that he had grown accustomed to although . . . it was not for purely selfish reasons that he would see to her. He also wished to see if she was well and that it was nothing concerning that kept her from sleep.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Lighting a candle, Anthony made his way through the hallway. Knowing his wife, there were limited places she would go to at this hour. His first guess, was the library. And it was the closest predicted area to him right now. As he neared it, he need not search anywhere else for he saw the faint flicker of light emanating from it. Entering through the doorway, sure enough there was Elizabeth, curled up with a book. "Is all well, Elizabeth?" He inquired. "The hour is terribly late." He paused for a moment. "Or incredibly early." Depending on which way one looked at it and it was also his way of attempting to lighten her potentially burdened mind -- if that was indeed what caused sleep to elude her.

She did not know how much time had passed since she made her way into the library. Elizabeth was too caught up in the words on the page to hear Anthony move down the hall and even enter the library. The light from his own candle seeping into the room, as did his words. Elizabeth jumped a little, not expecting his presence. Glancing at the candle on the table, she noted that not nearly enough time had passed and Elizabeth feared she had woken him when retreating from their bed. "I'm fine," she assured him. "I just haven't been able to fall asleep." Had she ever fallen asleep in the first place? She was sure that her eyes had closed but sleep had evaded her for the entire evening. It was not a common occurrence for her, but it was not something she had never experienced either. Usually there was a cause for her inability to shut off her mind but tonight, she did not believe that to be the case.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" Elizabeth asked, closing her book and placing it down. She frowned slightly at the idea. She'd believed Anthony to be sleeping so peacefully and had not wanted to wake him. The whole reason she had left their room was so that he could continue to rest in peace. But clearly that would not be the case and Elizabeth felt guilty for waking him up. Rising from her seat on the chair, Elizabeth blew out her candle before crossing the room to Anthony. She reached up and brushed some of his hair from his forehead. "I'm alright, I promise. My mind seems to have other ideas for the evening," she said with a sigh.
