Elizabeth absolutely despised the heat and everything about it. All it did was make her uncomfortable and she was seldom ever able to find some relief from it. If she was in the country then she could usually be found lounging around the lake near their estate but whilst in the city, there was nothing she could do. More often than not, all she would do was complain about the heat and about how horrible it was. Lizzie found herself unable to move or gain any type of motivation to do anything and her father had often told her that she was completely childish whenever the heat struck its highest point.
Even as a young woman, Elizabeth found herself unable to break her habit of complaining about the heat. Why did it have to be so . . . hot? Somehow she had managed to gather her thoughts and wonder where Jeremy was. It had been several hours since she had seen him. Had he told her he was off to do something and she had simply failed to commit the memory to her mind? No, surely she would remember if he had said he was going somewhere. Even though it absolutely pained her to move around, she decided that looking for him was a wise use of her time.
Lifting her hair off the nape of her neck, Elizabeth walked through the hallway, glancing into rooms with open doors to see if she could spot him. Most doors that were closed remained as such, given that she could not be bothered to open the door. But one door, their bedroom door, was closed and Elizabeth frowned. It was usually left open which made her believe that her husband could be found there. Reaching for the handle, Elizabeth opened it. The sight before her was not one she expected one bit.
Lying naked with a fan pointed directly at him, was Jeremy. Elizabeth was unable to stop the small fit of laughter that escaped her lips. "What on Earth are you doing?" she asked with a giggle. Closing the door behind her, so as to not share this image with anyone else, Elizabeth returned her gaze to him.

It was too, damn, hot. Jeremy had made quick work of divesting himself of his clothing once it became too much. He'd made the mistake of going outside and as soon as he returned home, he had required a bath and since then . . . he had simply not redressed. The heat was unbearable, and clothes only served as a hindrance at the moment. What he would not give to be at his small cabin so that he may jump into the lake nearby. Though, he knew that even his residence there tended to get quite warm. And yet, the thought of going swimming with his wife to appease the heat brought a smile to Jeremy's lips.
He continued to wave the fan to provide some semblance of air, a small smile remaining on his lips . . . until he heard the door open. He immediately moved the fan to conceal his lower region, the action done out of instinct more than anything else, though he somewhat relaxed when he saw who it was. And how she reacted. A sheepish smile formed on his face as he looked at her in the amused state that she was. It was after all, not as if she had not seen him in the nude . . . yet it still caused him slight embarrassment at the position she had found him in. "I am . . . fanning," he said with exaggerated confidence as he words were meant to be stated in a playful tone. Looking at her while keeping his position the same, his smile grew a little. "Given the heat perhaps you should join me. Though, you are far too overdressed for the occasion," he told her, his eyes moving over her attire with teasing disapproval.

Elizabeth giggled even more when she spotted that he had moved the fan to cover himself so he did not appear indecent. Pleased to see him in such a good mood, clear of any visible anxieties, Elizabeth walked further into the room and stood near the side of the bed. He suggested that she join him while removing her own clothes and she pretended to consider it. "I don't know," she said with a sigh, tapping her her chin. Elizabeth dropped the facade and let out another laugh. Fortunately with the heat, she was not wearing many layers to begin with. Reaching behind her, she undid her light blue dress and pushed it down her body, removing any other articles of clothing that might be covering her.
She crawled onto the bed, leaning over Jeremy and pressing a kiss to his lips before lying on her stomach and sighing. "We should travel to the country. We could swim in the lake all day if we so wished," Elizabeth said with a grin, looking over at Jeremy. "And spend some time just the two of us." She always preferred the country and while their staff at their home in the city was on the smaller side, Elizabeth would always prefer when it was just the two of them.
