Tag: @gendlc you can run BUT YOU'LL DIE TIRED random number generator selected: 7. Your muse is surrounded by thugs up to no good and mine happens to pass by. The London social season often brought with it the risk of increased crime, due to the wealthy crowd that frequented the otherwise emptier streets. Wealthy families came to participate, venturing from their country homes and estates. And this, put set the Bow Street Runners to be busier than usual. Of course that is not to say that there was no crime outside of the season. Only that it was reduced. It was what prompted Ezra to have finished a late shift, having attempted to negotiate a double one. But to no avail as the Magistrate instructed him otherwise. There were not many that would challenge his authority or with whom he would challenge . . . but when his superior gave him an order -- laced with logic and reasoning -- Ezra was obligated to comply.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Setting upon the dark city streets -- out of uniform which he loathed to wear anyway -- he placed his gloved hands in his pockets to battle the cool night air. Hearing a sound in the distance alerted him, quiet deep murmurs. It was enough to prompt Hunt to follow the sound, with stealth and as inconspicuously as he could. It was not at all a far distance until he saw a small group, surrounding a woman. And that, was all that he did need to see. Carefully slipping his hand from his pocket and placing it inside his coat to his pistol, Ezra made his presence known with his question.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "What is going on there?" He demanded, not yet revealing his weapon but prepared should the risk increase. Being outnumbered was not a concern of his. Determining whether there was cause to shoot, was. And since Ezra rather trusted his instincts in such matters, he kept his weapon concealed but hand on the trigger in his readiness should things need to escalate and the men not be scared off by his mere presence -- or the presence of any witness to whatever they were planning on doing.
