Tag: @francescab Note: made up some details and hope that's ok! Let me know if you'd like me to edit anything. you can run BUT YOU'LL DIE TIRED the number generator selected: 60. Your muse shows up at my muse’s house crying. Ezra had returned home at a reasonable hour considering most nights. Some may be grateful for that, to be home from work and able to spend an early night at ease. But for Hunt, it was quite the opposite. Those who enjoyed being relieved from their duties were those who had a family to return to. Or a form of companionship. Ezra's dedication to his work was due to his need to immerse himself in it, not just the desire to. Coming home to an empty home just reminded him of the painful memories as to what caused it. The comfort of sleep was not so easily found, sometimes relying on alcohol to help facilitate it -- though with limitations of course because waking up with the aftermath of it was a hindrance to his job. But tonight, he just attempted to lay down and see how swiftly sleep would take him -- if at all.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ It was the knocking of his door that prompted his eyes to open. Where he slept minimally, he was also a fairly light sleeper, sounds such as this alerting him back to consciousness with ease. He reached for his pocket watch to check the time, realizing the late hour. Logic dictated that this was some form of emergency or a matter of great urgency for anyone to come to his house so late. Pulling on a shirt he made his way to to door, opening it to see someone rather unexpected on the other end. But not someone unfamiliar. He had met Francesca Bridgerton a few times, finding himself oddly enjoying his conversations with her. There was an ease to which they were able to communicate but . . . Ezra thinking of rank, knew it could come to nothing more. She was part of a notable noble family, and he was a middle classman. Still. The restrictions did not deter him from giving her the location of his home.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ It was not just her sudden appearance that was a surprise but . . . she was crying. And while he remained steeled, and composed in demeanour and expression, he could feel that protective instinct within him start to ignite. Something had happened for her to come to him, at this late hour, with tears in her eyes. So not wishing to waste a moment if there was someway he could help, he asked her a question. "What happened?" Presuming that there was indeed some way he could assist her, for of all the people she could have gone to, and all the places she could have went . . . she came to him. And despite his attempt to keep everything buried deep within him making no outward show of it, he could not help that flicker of honor and emotion of what that meant to him.

That whole night had been something out of a nightmare for Frannie and she didn't know what to think or what to do about it. It had started with another social event that her family had hosted, the usual guests were there but this time a man had come forward requesting HER hand! And he was not a choice that she would have ever chosen! He was a man old enough to be her father! She had heard him mention her name and then later she had been floored to see him approach her oldest brother Anthony and she did not want to even think of what might be happening behind that closed door. For hours she had not been able to sleep nor had she been brave enough to go ask her brother what had been said. The later it got the more she was worried, was she going to be married to this man? Suddenly she could not stay here for another moment, she pulled on a dark cloak and out into the night she ran. She didn't even stop to think where she was headed but the moment he opened the door she ran straight into his arms not realizing till that moment she had been crying. She looked up at Ezra, A man asked for my hand but I ... I can't marry him.
