Tag: @lucygranville Note: Hope this is ok! Let me know if you'd like me to edit anything! you can run BUT YOU'LL DIE TIRED Ezra had been tracking a particular group of highwaymen, and he was determined to get them this time. They had already struck two carriages in the past several weeks and Ezra planned to be there before they struck a third. Or at least in time to apprehend them. The where was the only unknown factor, though Hunt had a general idea. He took a small group of Bow Street Runners with him, knowing there was a group of at least 5 highwayman so wanted to ensure they were well prepared. Sure enough, during a patrol of the area they came across the group, arriving just as they were attacking a carriage. The driver was killed and Ezra was able to shoot one of the robbers before he was able to cause too much harm to the young woman who had been travelling. They would need to fill out a proper report so Ezra tasked the men with doing this while he intended to escort the noblewoman home.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ While Ezra was not exactly the most compassionate, he also knew that this was part of his role and the sooner he returned to London, the sooner he could inform the Magistrate of their success. Which, also involved ensuring the woman arrived safely. Unfortunately, the weather was not agreeable and the storm caused the two of them to require shelter for the night. Securing a room, Ezra entered with the woman -- who's name he learned was Lucy -- closing the door behind him and locking it for extra security. Though, he there was no imminent threat he was well aware of victims of any crime often feeling vulnerable and afraid after whatever attack they were subject to. "The bed is yours," he told her, not wanting her to think that he would lie in the same bed as her. It was bad enough that only one room remained in the inn, otherwise he was well aware of how . . . inappropriate this may be. The only saving grace being that he was an officer and thus, this was part of his job.

This evening had taken quite the turn into a nightmare. When Lucy got into carriage she was prepared for a long boring trip but not to be ambushed and now she was stranded at an inn with a total stranger. She didn't even have her clothing or anything in her bags. Sitting on the only bed in the room she gazed over at the gentleman who was in charge of escorting her home. I don't usually spend the night with a strange man without at least getting his name. I am Lucy Granville and you are? Lucy asked wanting to try to break the tension in the air.
She stood up and let down her long curly hair. Then she looked over at him. It is freezing in here, and I don't have anything to change into. Turn around please. With her hands on her hips she waited till he turned then she started to undress and quickly slipped under the covers.
Lucy tried for some time to fall asleep but every time she closed her eyes she would see the carriage being attacked all over again. Finally she sighed loudly then looked over at him. I can't fall asleep, I keep seeing it happen over and over. Please hold me. Her voice faltered as she felt embarrassed to be begging a total stranger to lie in bed with her.
