Tag: @mariannetalbot you can run BUT YOU'LL DIE TIRED random number generator selected: 15. My muse breaks yours muse’s heart. Hunt was often hired for events during the social season for those of nobility wished for the security that Bow Street Runners could provide. Enlisting their expertise to ensure that their guests felt safe and that nothing nefarious was afoot. This time however, Ezra was not hired to this event but rather . . . invited. He was said to be the next Magistrate, something that was understood among the Bow Street Runners and the city but it was now confirmed. And it was after all, important to be in good standing and keep ties strengthened with those in the ton and overall city.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But what was not yet known . . . was the affair he was having with the daughter of a duke. However, for Ezra it was far deeper than merely anything physical. He had not felt the sense of peace and ease in a long time . . . as he did with her. He seldom let his work overlap with his personal life, aware of the repercussions. In fact, he rarely focused at all on his personal life. But with her, it had just become such a natural path . . . such a seemingly easy one. The feelings he developed for her growing tremendously; strengthening with each passing day. And yet, the reality was crashing down on him tonight. Looking at her from across the room, dancing with a man of nobility . . . and it could never be him. He needed to face such realities and do what was best for her: they needed to end things. When the dance was finished, he casually made his way through the crowd, predetermining his path so that it would not arouse suspicion.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ When he nonchalantly passed her, he dropped his voice to quickly speak words that only she could hear; only meant for her ears. "Meet me in the garden." With that, he had swiftly crossed the room and stood by the door to the backyard. Eyeing the large group of people in the room to ensure no ones gaze was upon him, he slipped through the door and made his way in the path darkened by the night sky and lit by the moon. Fortunately, there was no else about which is what he had been counting on. He stood by the hedges, concealing himself in the shadows until he was certain it was her at which point, he would reveal himself.

For the longest time Marianne had managed to fly under her parents radar and she had a secret relationship that she guarded very carefully. When it was announced that she was to be married she knew that she would have to try to find Ezra and tell him first. She didn't want him to hear about the news from anyone else. Part of her was madly in love with him but the other part of her knew that they could never be. It was not something that her parents would ever tolerate and she did not want them to find out, she knew that they would not rest until Ezra was ruined. She loved him too much to have him hurt that way, no it was better that they ended this quickly no matter how badly it hurt both of them. She had gotten used to feeling his eyes watching over her at the social events. In a way she liked knowing he was always looking out for her, it was comforting and it was very exciting. Many nights she would make sure to make eye contact with Ezra and then she would try to find time to steal away something dark to spend a few precious, stolen moments with him. Tonight she immediately noticed him walking towards her, something about the look on his face worried her. Had he learned about her betrothal before she could tell him? She gave just the slightest of nod to signal to him she heard him without alerting anyone else. As soon as possible after Ezra walked out Marianne made excuse and headed outside herself. She didn't see him but she knew that he was there. He would not reveal himself until it was safe. So she patiently waited for all to leave so they could talk. Ezra Huntington
