.:Name:. Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz
.:Nick Name:. Charlotte, Lottie,Snuffy Charlotte
.:Rank:. Royalty
.:Age:. It is impolite to inquire as to the age of your Queen.| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Queen Charlotte is a woman of great elegance and poise. The colour of her skin is reflective of her African heritage on her mother's side, as are her facial features. Her true hair is often -- if not always -- concealed by the wearing of her diverse collection of wigs. Whether they are lilac and tall, brown and wide, or white with jewels weaved within them. Her opulent gowns are also reflective of her extravagant style as they are bold colours with expensive jewelry to match. She enjoys setting trends in fashion and carries herself with the expected regality of a true Queen.
.:Height:. 5"7'
.:Portrayed by:. Golda Rosheuvel| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |.:Personality:. Queen Charlotte is a woman with a strong and intimidating presence. She is unafraid to express her true thoughts and unapologetic in the bluntness of them. Whether this is revealed by a dismissive waving of the hand, or an eye roll of annoyance. The Queen makes no secret of her displeasure over a situation, or when it pertains to an individual person. She is judgmental and knows that her opinion is what truly matters. She has little tolerance for simple minded individuals and has no qualms with making this known to the other. Her tendency in doing so causing the other to feel small, and perhaps even insignificant as well as foolish. Her words also have a bit of sass to them, to match her facial expressions when displeased or unimpressed. Queen Charlotte is a woman of impatience as she expects any command or inquiry to be met with prompt response, be it verbally or physically. She never believes she is wrong and loathes to be proven as such. She grows bored easily and has a constant need to be entertained. She also has incredibly high standards and when she grants favor to another, does not expect it to be taken lightly.Contrary to what it may seem from above, the Queen does indeed have a kind nature to her. She offers a smile when earned, and conversation where deserved. Knowing her influence over the ton, particularly during social season, she involves herself in the goings on, and intervenes where she deems fit. She is arguably obsessed with Whistledown's articles, despising the challenge that the author poses to the Queen's judgements and is eager -- if not desperate -- to unveil her true identity so that she may punish her accordingly for her insolence. Charlotte has a strong interest and love for the arts (performing, drawing/painting, literature, etc), and some in botany. While she never had a strong interest in politics, her husband would occasionally ask for her counsel in private moments and she would offer her opinions and thoughts where she felt able to contribute. Charlotte also has an incredibly strong affection for Pomeranians, having ownership of several within her home. She even walks them by herself at times, and is seldom seen upon her throne without one in hand.Despite what is seen on the surface however, deep down, Charlotte possesses a wound soul. She is a heartbroken woman and incredibly lonely due to the tragedies that had afflicted her family, particularly the death of her daughter and the mental demise of her beloved husband. The latter affected her for he is not only her king, but also her dear love and best friend; thus, she feels the emptiness of his companionship. The need for her to be constantly entertained is a result of these things, for she does not wish for her mind and time to remain unoccupied as it causes her to dwell on the pain of her family's losses. Family is incredibly dear to her and while she may not outwardly admit it, she longs to have them nearby as much as possible and as often as can be. The loss of Amelia which further spiraled her husband's condition, also caused Charlotte to turn to snuff for relief, which has now developed into an addiction.Overall, Charlotte is a strong, resilient woman. She maintains the front of being a fitting queen, Regal in all mannerisms and dealings. Confident is her decisions and sure in her commands. Charlotte is also a great believer in love, finding that she does indeed have that more romantic side to her even if it remains unexpressed. She has a strong love for her husband and family and so truly does believe in the power it can hold and the influence it can have over others. There is also a strong maternal side to her, that longs to care for others and it is perhaps in part why she possesses so many Pomeranians within her care. This part of her truly comes out when in the company of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren..:Skills:. strong and confident, intimidating presence, intelligent and influential, resilient and maintains a powerful front, Pom aficionado.:Weaknesses:. addicted to snuff, grows bored easily and constantly needs to be entertained, deeply lonely and pained, judgmental and impatient.| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |.:Birthplace:. Mecklenburg-Strelitz ; a small north-German territory.:Family:.
.:Occupation:. Queen of Great Britain and Ireland
.:History:. Charlotte was born on May 19th, in a small territory in the Holy Roman Empire. She received a very mediocre education, as her upbringing was similar to that of a daughter of an English country gentleman. She studied some botany, natural history, and language however her education was heavily focused on household management and religion. Charlotte always possessed a rather strong personality; quick witted, sharp tongued, and unafraid to speak her mind. These traits however were forced to be reined in by her ladies for it was unbecoming and not entirely suitable for a princess to possess such qualities. Furthermore, it was expected that she would marry into a Royal family and thus, held expectations of being a proper and compliant wife.
At the age of 17, Charlotte would meet George III and this encounter would change her life forever. There was initial interest in her by him even before making her acquaintance, due to her lack of interest in politics and thus, posing as no threat to the king. When they did meet however, Charlotte did not expect what happened. She expected formality, mundane conversation, and to have to hold her tongue to play into this notion of being submissive and polite. Instead, the two of them found conversation far easier than any they had before, and an ease in one another's company. They stayed up the entire night just talking, an almost instant comfort felt in each other's presence and an affection that quickly developed. By the time the next day came, they were to be wed. Charlotte saw in the man not just a king or husband, but a best friend. Their relationship only grew stronger since then as the two were truly in love with one another. There was trust which quickly developed between the two as well, and it allowed George to confide in her and even seek her counsel at times, proving her to be a strong confidant. Charlotte also, not being an English native speaker, strove to enhance her language skills and in the process, assimilated to the English culture with touches to honor her own heritage; her accent was one of the many things that conformed to her current country of residence.
As time went on, the couple were eventually blessed with children however as happy as the years of their marriage were . . . came the drastic alternative of pain and suffering. George began to have bouts of mental illness, the first being concealed from Charlotte. As it was only temporary, she did not find out until his second, and as time drew on, they became more frequent and long lasting. Charlotte began to see less of her beloved husband and more of a stranger, though she never gave up on him, nor her belief in him. It was not until the death of their daughter, Amelia, that things took an even worse turn. The King's madness seemed long lasting, and occasions of being lucid were far and in between. Charlotte, forced to cope with not only the death of her daughter but the slow loss of her husband, turned to snuff as a coping mechanism.
Unable to bare seeing him in such a state, Charlotte does not visit the king frequently, only seeking his company when receiving word that he is lucid or at times, when he is sleeping. Her seeming lack of compassion to his condition is born out of the pain in witnessing his violent outbursts towards her and the lack of recognition of her in his gaze. She seeks to keep herself occupied, enjoying the social season as it provides ample distraction. She also greatly enjoys visits from her relatives so that she may spend time with family and in doing so, numb the inner pain of the tragedies that has struck her own. She currently remains to be the face of the Royal couple, sure and confident in her reign and willing to socialize among their subjects so that they know that their Queen is alive, well, and standing strong.
