Today at the club Alex was sitting and waiting for his friend. He had not shared his news with any of his friends yet because he was still busy trying to figure out how to bring it up to his parents. He had never planned on finding a lady like Helena, she had quickly become very dear to him and he knew that he had to find a way to make them accept her as his intended. He hated the idea of not having her in his life, she was all the things he wanted in a wife and so much more. Meeting with Anthony today he hoped that his friend might have some advice for him. Bridgerton! Over here. He stood up and waved to Anthony. I have a bottle of bourbon, don't let me drink it alone.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY While it was important for Anthony to attend the gentleman's club for many reasons -- both personal and business affairs -- he also enjoyed the ease it brought him. Being able to just enjoy a drink, be away from the hustle and bustle of the household. He also knew he could not do this in long bouts but the stolen moments he was able to enjoy, he relished. So as he made his way inside, he was greeted by a dear friend; dear family friend in fact. Their friendship being that of the next generation for Edmund and Charles were once good friends too.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Anthony had always been determined to continue that tradition and keep the closeness between the Davenports and Bridgertons. Of course, it helped that most of the siblings got along splendidly. "Davenport!" He returned the greeting with a smile, extending his hand to the man in greeting. "I would indeed be a terrible friend if I allowed for such a thing," he said in teasing jest, referring to not allowing him to drink the bourbon alone. One Alexander sat down, Anthony too seated himself comfortably in the chair, waving at the waiter to get him a cigar. "Tell me Davenport, how have you been?" The social season certainly must be keeping him as busy as it was Anthony.

Alex had been toying with a cigar in his hand as he waited for Anthony and now he dropped it to pour them both some bourbon. You could never be a bad friend Bridgerton. He handed him the glass. This was going to be the first time Alex had shared talk about being interested in anyone with Anthony. Before he had never cared enough about any lady to spend more than one dance with her.I have been well, this season is proving to be different than any other. I think I might have found my future bride. He sipped his bourbon as he waited to see his friend's reaction to this news.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY Anthony smiled in appreciation at his friends words, stating that he could never be a bad friend. "Thank you," Anthony responded, a dual purpose to his words; one for the complimenting statement and the other when the eldest Davenport handed him a drink. Alexander then continued to say that this season was different than any other . . . further revealing that he had found his bride. Anthony's smile brightened, raising his glass in cheers. "Well congratulations, Davenport," he said with sincerity.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "A cheers to finding your wife." Though the words of might were indeed intriguing. For with Alexander having remained married thus far, it would mean that he had not yet found a suitable match. Yet now that he found one . . . that word still caused potential uncertainty. Unless of course he merely meant it in such a way that nothing was finalized yet. Either way, Anthony was happy for him. He took a sip of his drink, swallowing the beverage before continuing. "Would I know the future Countess?" Anthony asked, curious to see if it was someone he or his family was well acquainted with.

We just decided last night that I would court her, now I have to meet her family and my father. Alex admitted to his friend between taking drinks. I was not planning to find anyone on my own, I was resigned to my parents telling me who to marry one day but I prefer this. Having a wife that I love makes me excited too. I want a lady that I can share a life with, not that I just have to live with who I barely know or like.Alex knew that Anthony would understand, as a fellow first son they had always leaned on each other. Didn't I hear that you declared you would wed this season? The ladies will be eager to try to catch your eye.He downed his glass again then set it down before he answered his question. You might know her, you might know her father too. Her name is Helena Bishop and her father is the very busy Dr. Bishop.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY While Anthony did understand what it was to be fond of a beautiful woman -- countless mistresses being rather indicative of that -- he did not know what it was to be in love. Nor did he factor in the notion to any thought of finding a wife. He had removed the concept of love when it came to finding a Viscoutness. Though his reasons, far more deep seated than anything he was able to speak about. Not only was there the acceptance that he was not going to live beyond the years of his father . . . but there was also the belief that duty trumped love. And that it was more important than whomever he found, was a suitable match. Being the eldest son, and Viscount, his duties and responsibilities to his family always came first.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Though, it seemed that Alexander held a different mindset. Preferring love over all else and well, if she was indeed a suitable match, then why the hell not. "I am happy for you then. That you have found someone you so deeply care for." Because, Anthony's own parents had been a love match. Daphne and Simon as well. Anthony was not opposed to another finding love that led to marriage. He just knew that for himself . . . it was not an option. When he brought up Anthony's own declaration of wishing to wed, Anthony took another sip of his drink, his cigar coming just in time for him to take a puff of it with ease. Slowly releasing the smoke, leaning further back in his chair, he continued.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Indeed," he confirmed. "It is rather difficult though, to weed through all the potential women," he said with a hint of playful arrogance. While he was not overly choosy, he did wish for someone that would be fitting of the role. Being the wife of a Viscount after all, had its duties and he wanted -- no, required -- someone who held knowledge in that area. Even marginally. Eager to hear the name of the future Countess, when Alex revealed it, Anthony's smile ever so slightly faltered, making quick recovery of it by taking another puff of his cigar. Helena Bishop. Yes; he knew of her family and had briefly made her acquaintance.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But . . . she was not of nobility. So the answer surprised the Viscount. That Alexander sought to court a woman so far below his station. "I see," he began to say, without an ounce of judgement in his voice. "And what does your family say of this?" He questioned, wondering if his father was accepting of his choice. For it was indeed, a decision that would effect his entire family . . . inclusive of the matches for his sisters as well. So before giving his own opinion, he was curious to hear what the Davenport family thought of this union.
