After spending most of the evening exchanging glances and being stuck in the corner, the two began to share a dance and a conversation. She told him to be himself during their dance. He left the evening with her dance card (she purposely drops it) with only his name on it.
After many brief dances and stolen moments of chatter, the two bumped into each other at Hyde Park. While the conversation remained light, it was clear that they have feelings for each other. Alex asked Helena to enter a courtship in which she told him she’ll let him know.
By the time the next grand ball, it was clear both had fallen for each other. But before things progress, Helena shared her family’s past. While the possible of the Ton might look down on their relationship, they agreed to be together, sealing it with a moonlit kiss under a tree.
The next day, Alex officially asked Helena’s father to court which he grants as long as his family approves. The couple strolls around her neighborhood of Marylebone, but not without Alex finally telling Helena he loves her. As she was about to close the door as they depart, she reciprocate those feelings to him.
On their first official outing as a couple, mostly reacted positively to the match. But out of the Ton’s eyes, passion overtake them, eventually leading a steamy encounter in the carriage after the opera.
What started horribly when Helena felt ill, ended beautifully with a proposal in Helena’s bedroom. After the wedding contract and dowry was discussed, Alex stayed over in the bedroom where they have serious talks about their futures.
After a wait period for a common license and pre-wedding hijinks, Alex and Helena became husband and wife. Before heading to the Bishop’s home for brunch, Alex surprises Helena with a home for them to live within minutes of her parents. The couple would continue to celebrate with their family and friends at brunch and with each other once they were home.
And there is more to come. But right now, they’re enjoying the honeymoon.
