Tag: authorflies Note: Better layout coming soon! Also, let me know if you'd like me to edit anything regarding her rejecting a proposal or anything like that! Figured we could start things off with a conversation and then if need be, time lapse it to the ball later on that evening! But do let me know if you'd like me to edit anything in the post! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU It was time Anthony have a serious talk with Eloise. They all knew that she was far different from her sister, and because of it . . . the room was not as filled with courters as it had been with her. But Anthony did not compare the two. He cared for each of his dear sisters just the way they were. What he was concerned with however, was the fact that when they finally did get a proposal from a respectable Lord . . . she rejected it. Anthony knew it was his responsibility to get her married and settle into a life with her husband -- whomever that would be.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ His duty as Viscount and head of this family would not be completed until ever one of his brothers and sisters were married -- Hyacinth being the last. So yes. He needed to have a serious conversation with Eloise, especially since there was another ball tonight. He had asked her into the drawing room, closing the door behind him so that they may have some privacy.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "It was a perfectly good proposal from a respectable gentleman," he began to say, still trying to understand why she said no and this was his way of opening up that conversation. "What could possibly make you say no?" While he knew he had to marry each of his siblings . . . they were each indeed quite stubborn. Unfortunately, it was something that ran in the family.

The pit of dread that was swimming in her stomach was deep. She knew this was coming, the disguised lecture from her brother who was simply trying to do his duty. Part of her felt bad for her stance, almost preferring being a spinster as opposed to a wife and mother. If she was unwed though she’d be trapped at home and would likely never see anything beyond London, she wouldn’t belong to anyone. She could still write and be free to be herself- just Eloise. Being ‘just Eloise’ though was an unrealistic fantasy. One day she would have to get married and she was just biding her time, but she had hoped that she would find the perfect someone when she did. She was not going to settle. Especially not for this Lord. Even though she knew the question was coming, Eloise still felt herself tensing up slightly, swallowing harshly as gloved fingers began to fiddle with the fine fabric of her skirt. How was she supposed to explain to him the thousands of reasons that she had rejected the marriage proposal? The softest of sighs left her mouth as she found the courage to look up at her brother at last, voice steady and her stance firm. “Perfectly dreadful was what he was.” Perfectly dreadful or not, her rejection was going to be the talk of the party she was sure and that was something she was already dreading almost as much as she was about the fact that she had to explain herself now. “He was dreadfully unintelligent, horribly boring, and he had a strange smile.” Perhaps the latter was her imagination considering how she swore that most men wore the exact same grin. She didn’t want to elaborate further, choosing instead to try and change the subject, shifting balance between her toes and heel before looking to the ground. “Does it matter, brother? There’s still time in the season after all, and the ball tonight. Perhaps some Lord or even a Duke will come and sweep me away into a married life.” That was just words that she was staying to try and soften whatever he said next, though, and she hoped that he didn’t know that, she wouldn't be surprised if he did, though. ~ Anthony Bridgerton ~ Note : This is perfect!! Thank you so much!! I am all the down to do a scene before the ball and think it is perfect!! I am apologizing now for her sass because it is not going to end!

Tag: authorflies Note: Better layout coming soon! Your post was PERFECT! Sass him up all you want El!! hahahh! Sooo very her!! I'm loving it!!!! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony knew this would be no easy task. Especially considering it was Eloise. He knew how her . . . opinions differed. Her willingness to be presented to the ton a bit different than that of their previous sister. But alas, Anthony had a responsibility to fulfil so having this talk was important, so that he may understand her reasons for rejecting what he believed to be a perfectly well suited match. And her reasons at that, he supposed as valid as they were . . . still made him question her willingness. Letting out a heavy breath, he knew he would have to compromise here.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Very well," he stated, though his tone making it clear that his conversation was far from over. "But not because I concede that he had a strange smile," Anthony clarified. He supposed the other reasons were more . . . acceptable. He was slowly learning based on experience, that as difficult as this was, he wanted to see his sister happy. But as she commented on a duke or lord sweeping her away, he gave her a look, clearly not convinced that she was taking that seriously.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "This may be a joke to you, Eloise," he said, his voice not loud or scolding but, holding the typical serious tone that he did when conversing about an important matter. "But this is about your future, and the future of our family." Because every marriage, had an impact on the Bridgerton name. "You reject this proposal, but I must know if this will be a pattern." It was difficult for Anthony to accept that any man was good enough for his dear sisters, but he also knew that with their sister having gotten married in her first season . . . there was a similar expectation for Eloise.

This was certainly the very last conversation that she wanted to be having in general and hence the tone that he spoke with, the slight sound in his voice that made her realize that they would talk about this again was enough to make Eloise swallow harshly, eyes following down to the ground, though he did earn the smallest of smiles at his statement, fighting the urge to make a final joke but true point on the man’s appearance. “You do not have to look at him the same way I do. And you did not have him step on your shoes during a waltz.” Which she may or may not have done in her frustration but… well that she would never own up to and hadn’t, even to the lord. Her brother, though, was changing the subject and so she followed the conversation, only looking down to the ground as his words hit her. She knew all too well that this was far from a joke, the only person that this was a joke on was her. She felt like a clown sometimes and whenever she didn’t she felt almost sick with her nerves and unease. It was for Hyacinth and Francesca that she was doing this as well as for the Bridgerton name as a whole. Though she longed to sign herself up for a life full of writing in the act of becoming a spinster, she could only imagine how that would harm every single female in the Bridgerton family for the rest of time. Further, though, as he spoke Eloise was reminded of her brother’s job, taking over what their father should have done, and suddenly she felt guilty, only slightly. Though no apology would leave her mouth, it showed in her eyes, trying to think on how to say that she was not going to settle, that if she was going to marry, she wanted someone who would treat her like a queen, or at least a princess. A love match. It seemed unattainable sometimes, but more than anything, that was what she wanted. “I have high standards that I expect suitors to meet. That is all.” She paused a little, tilting her head, trying to think on how to answer this question that he was posing. “You need not try to find me a match if that is what you are asking, but I cannot lie to you and say that this is the last time that I will reject a proposal of marriage.”
Tag ~ Anthony Bridgerton ~ Note : Sass is in her very nature haha. She has Many Expectations and wants many things out of her suitors I am SORRY Anthony. BUT! SAME!! It's so fun

Tag: authorflies Note: Better layout coming soon! Hahahah give him all the sass!! I would say he's used to it buuut, he still grumbles along the way! hahah! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Eloise was certainly right about that. Anthony did not look at him the same way that she did. There was no need for him to be attracted to the man, and he understood -- having learned the difficult way after what happened previously -- that attraction should be considered where a union is concerned.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Him stepping on her toes . . . well, yes. That indicated that he lacked proper etiquette and training in what it was to be a noble. "Very well. I will accept your, excuse Eloise." He paused for a moment. "This time." Meaning, he would not repeatedly accept such excuses. Hearing Eloise speak of high standards . . . was something else that Anthony could not argue with for he believed the same, and had even said something similar to their eldest sister back in her first season. He trusted Eloise and her judgement, even if he may not say that often enough.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "It is indeed important to have high standards. But not ones that will make it impossible for any man to meet." There had to be compromise of course. And so hearing her say that she did not need to find someone for her . . . well, Anthony was not so willing to accept that. "It is my responsibility to find you a husband," he told her, unwavering in this duty. "And I will continue to do so until we find a suitable match. One that both of us will have to agree on I suppose." His sisters certainly did not make it easy to find a husband . . . nor did his brothers make it easy for him to find them a wife.

There was only limited amount of comfort that she found in his acceptance and it was shortly lived by the ‘this time’. Eloise felt her shoulders tense up and her skin pale, eyes falling to the ground. She was stubborn as he was and, at this point, neither of them were going to cave. Common ground would have to be found but, right now, she regretted nothing about the rejection, nor would she at any to come. “I know it is your duty. I am fairly certain that no one doubts that.” And she appreciated the word we. It made her feel as though she had some sort of say in what was to be her future, even as she had despised everything that was going to happen to her. She despised being thrown into the eyes of everyone and despised the way that most looked at her. “It is not my intention to make it harder for you even as I am sure that is what I am doing. “I suppose I just don’t wish to end up in… an arranged situation.” She trusts her brother won’t do that though. She still finds it to be one of the many things that needed to be said- And more. A moment of hesitation stirred inside of her, wondering if she should truly open up her mind or if her brother would simply laugh at her. Perhaps it was a chance she needed to take. Swallowing just a little bit, her nerves softened both her tone and her volume as her gaze fell down to the ground. “Anthony all I wish to find is a man who might treat me like a princess, if not a queen and, more importantly will not laugh when they learn that my mind is the most brilliant part of who I am. I do not have the patience for things such as watercolors and my hands shake too much for needlepoint or decent piano forte but I can write. And I think that is far more fantastic than any other abilities these men might look for.” None of the men who lived in the Ton would see it. That much she did not speak out loud but she settled for swallowing it down and finally raising her eyes. “I am trying. I am going to try. I just ask for your trust. And the occasional push when I tense up whilst at a ball.” Tag : ~Anthony Bridgerton~Note : Y e a h it's. Her middle name really. Anthony and grumbling is a Valid reaction.

Tag: authorflies Note: awwww she softened him up and won him over!! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony intently listened to Eloise as she spoke of understanding it was his duty, and that she did not wish to be in an arranged marriage. Anthony knew that . . . he did not wish for that either. He had learned it the difficult way with Daphne and Nigel. That a husband for each of his sisters had to be more than simply suitable. Though, he would never feel that any man was good enough to wed them. He remained silent as she continued, truly listening to her words.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Yes. She was not like Daphne. The two were quite different especially in their approach to their season. And while Anthony did not compare them in any fault, for he loved them both the way they were, he knew that Eloise's priorities and preferences were far different than their eldest sister's. Eloise was not the typical noblewoman and he would not change a thing about her. "Any man should count himself lucky to be in your company, Eloise," he began to say honestly, softening his tone and approach as he listened to her. Hearing her, understanding where she was coming from.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "And I . . . suppose I will ease in any pressure. I do not wish for you to simply settle. I wish for your happiness. Especially if that entails being with someone you want to be with." If his siblings marriages had proven anything, it was that. Seeing how happy they were with their husbands and wives. He wanted to see Eloise experience that happiness too. "You have my trust," he assured her, taking her hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze. "So long as you will try," he teased, acknowledging her own assurance that she was trying.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "And at any ball, should you find yourself in undesirable company, I will be at your side in but an instant. If of course I am not already there." Because he would not have any man near his sister if they did not wish him to be. After all, they still had to go through Anthony for he would not ease his protective nature. But merely . . . his willingness to let his sisters decide for themselves. Keeping a smile upon his lips, he slightly raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Was his smile truly that bad?" He asked a bit jokingly, though not without truth, referring to the proposal that had prompted this very conversation.
