His aunt, the Queen of England, had extended him an invitation to spend a Season in London, and Friedrich had graciously accepted. He had spent time in England over the years, but now that he was considering seeking a wife, this visit had taken on a new meaning. Before it had been more about family and courtly duties, but this time was different.
The Queen had spoken to him of a particularly lovely young woman she wished him to meet. "Flawless", she had called the girl, and insisted she would make him a lovely wife. He had smiled and told her he was looking forward to making her acquaintance. Tonight, he had finally done so, and had to admit she was quite lovely, indeed. Of course, there were several others that were pleasing to the eye, and perhaps would be pleasant getting to know better, as well. In fact, he'd had very little time to himself with all of the introductions, mothers waltzing their daughters in front of him, ladies vying for his affections.
When finally he was able to step away, it was a young gentleman that sought to make his acquaintance next. The man's surname was familiar, though he'd heard the Bridgertons were a plentiful family. A slight bow of respect preceded his words. "Mr. Bridgerton, a pleasure. I hope you are enjoying your evening."

It was a common sentiment to hear. "An honor to have you here", "we are so glad you could join us", "what a pleasure to have you here this Season". Nevertheless, Friedrich took the compliment as it was meant to be received. "My aunt has said much the same." His aunt had specifically directed him to Mister Bridgerton's sister, though she was not the only lovely young lady in the room. "There are, indeed, a number of fair and fine young women in attendance this Season."
To Friedrich, a ballroom brought both pros and cons. Yes, there were many potential candidates for his future wife, and he did enjoy dancing on occasion and some of the conversations. However, there were always so many pairs of eyes fixed on him, and many mothers and daughters scheming to get in his good graces. A little cynical, perhaps, but it was the unfortunate truth in his experience. Those who wielded title and power garnered more attention.
