Edith has never viewed herself as anything particularly special — average in height, average in build, just another lower class girl in London, never permitted to wear pretty dresses or do anything special with her hair. If only she could, then she would in a heartbeat. She is well kept enough, due to living in the Bridgerton home now, but she's still simply dressed as any other maid. Perhaps she doesn't stand out, she's never going to be a diamond or anything of the sort, but that's okay.

.:Personality:. At her core, Edith is a dreamer. She can be somewhat naïve in the face of society, and while she isn't exactly dreaming of joining the ton or having equality, she does dream of being something other than a maid, even if it was as simple as being taught to read and write so she could be a governess like her mother before her. She's gentle and empathetic, always willing to listen to those she works for, and anyone else who might need her — though she is sensitive, even needlessly, even if there's no need to be.

.:History:. When Edith's parents first came to be with child, very few people knew about them. They worked in the same noble household, Agnes as a governess to the children, and Timothy as a footman — they hadn't been a couple before they started working there, but their love affair began while the ladies and gentlemen of the house were off at balls and fancy events. Given that they were only the hired help, there was no scandal, not really. They quickly married, and Edith's older sister, Judith, came into the world first. A year later, she was born. With two young children, her mother wasn't able to spend as much time as a governess, and money was tight. As soon as the girls were somewhat older, she went straight back to it. 

In no time at all, Edie was learning to be a maid, as was her sister. It was always known they'd have to go straight into work, for they weren't of the same ilk as their children their mother taught. She learnt what she could, but it wasn't as if she was ever going to marry well or get away from the lower class. And that was fine — she could dream, though. A few years later, by the time she was eighteen, she wound up working for the Bridgertons,  truly thankful that, of all the families she could have ended up working for, it happened to be them.
