edith works in the bridgerton household, though has likely worked in a few other upper class homes previously, so there's opportunity there for her to know other families. she's rather emotional and naive, and does enjoy what she does, though she spends a lot of time dreaming of being able to do something else, whatever that might be.
most of her friends are likely to also be lower or middle class, given her position in society, but she would be open to friendships with anyone. i'm sure she likes the bridgertons just fine, though whether or not the same can be said for any other families of the ton is anybody's guess.
