eloise & penelope. The sound of her bedroom door opening caused Eloise to glance over her shoulder, immediately setting her quill down as she saw her best friend. It was far from unusual for the butler or one of the maids to simply let Penelope come in, she was over often enough, and considering they were both young ladies, there was no need for any sort of chaperone to stop them from being alone together. There was plenty to discuss alone in her chamber, and she'd much rather share all of her thoughts with the red head, rather than her journal. As much as she enjoyed writing things down, there were already enough ink-stains on her fingers, and she must have already touched upon everything worth writing on parchment. "I was half expecting you to be Hyacinth. I do hope she's with her governess, then she may leave us alone. I believe she's being kept later today to work on her Latin." At that, she pulled a face. While she enjoyed learning and had always wished she was permitted to go to university, most of her learning with governesses had been incredibly dull. Still, if it kept her youngest sister from disturbing them, she wasn't about to complain. Dropping down onto her bed, she gestured for her friend to join her, her full attention on Penelope. Eloise never was one to enjoy silence, and having someone to speak with was always a bonus, especially when the latest edition of a particularly enticing gossip sheet had been dropped off just that morning. "Well? Have you read it? The latest Whistledown?" [attr="class","mizocredit"] [newclass=.mizocredit a]font:bold 6pt calibri;letter-spacing:1px;color:#b5d1f1;[/newclass]

see, no angst. I'm nice. | It was apparent that her mother did not believe her capable of attracting a suitor. It was clear in the way she prioritized her older sisters on the marriage mart. Penelope did not trouble herself with such a realization, mostly due to the allowances it granted her.
She had asked her mother if she might call upon Eloise that morning, and at first, she feared her request would be denied. But it quickly became apparent that Lady Featherington had other things playing on her mind, and those thoughts did not involve her youngest daughter.
Penelope had been shown inside by a maid and allowed to go straight upstairs to Eloise's room. It was not as though the staff were unaccustomed to her calling, she spent so much time around the Bridgerton girl.
"Surely, she cannot be that bad?" a smile played at the corners of her mouth upon entering the room to hear her friend complaining about her younger sister.
Walking across the room, she settled on the bed beside Eloise. She seemed particularly animated that morning, and soon she discovered why. "I take it you have?" she prompted, wondering what her thoughts were on the latest publication. "What did you think of it?" it was unlike Eloise to censor her thoughts on such matters, she could always count on her for an honest account of her thoughts. |

eloise & penelope. The staff in the Bridgerton household were more than used to Penelope now, she was certain. The two of them spent more than enough time together, and nobody could say anything about it — were her best friend a gentleman, it would be an entirely different matter, but nobody seemed to bat an eyelid at the two young ladies thick as thieves in her chamber. The conversation usually only strayed to matters of society and how exhausting it all was, and the help would always be close by if needed, anyway. Besides, Eloise would much sooner have her friend in her home than go to the Featherington household — she’d never been fond of her mama or sisters, and they’d likely only tolerate her to avoid getting on the bad side of her family.Pen, however, was not like the rest of her family. She wasn’t a social climber, she was someone who genuinely seemed to understand Eloise more than most members of the ton, and for that she was grateful. Promenades and events were far easier with the red head by her side, she could almost tolerate the rest of the ton when she had someone to whisper with. These moments, however, when they didn’t have to deal with suitors and uncomfortable dresses? These were her favourite.“It was far better than her last article,” Eloise hummed, reaching for the gossip sheet, holding it out to her friend. It had been delivered not long before Penelope arrived, but she’d already scanned it closely…twice. Her feelings about Lady Whistledown were constantly changing, but she currently held a lot of respect for her. “I was particularly thrilled by the mention of Cressida Cowper. It is quite a relief to know we aren’t the only ones to see how awful she truly is.” [attr="class","mizocredit"] [newclass=.mizocredit a]font:bold 6pt calibri;letter-spacing:1px;color:#b5d1f1;[/newclass]
