edith & beau.
Dinnertime in the Bridgerton estate was always a hectic affair. With so many children, the youngest of whom had a tendency to toss food at each other when nobody was looking, there was little chance of a quiet evening. Edith didn't mind it, though, she did love her job — she was happy here, far happier than she'd be in most households. The majority of the families of the ton didn't treat their household staff nearly as well as the Bridgertons did, they were lucky working there. That said, it was absolute carnage when there were guests over for the evening, as there were then. It seemed everyone who worked within the house was rushing around all at once, trying to ensure everything was ready as it should be. It felt like awhile since she stood still, and at this point, she had far too many plates stacked up. She'd gotten used to dodging in and out of other servants, but she hadn't seen him coming. Edith's body collided with Beau's so suddenly, all of the plates in her hands crashing to the floor. Oh, that would take forever to clean up. Horrorstricken, she looked up at him, eyes widening even further when she met his gaze. Oh. "My apologies. I...this was truly all my fault."[attr="class","mizocredit"] [newclass=.mizocredit a]font:bold 6pt calibri;letter-spacing:1px;color:#b5d1f1;[/newclass]

| -------------------------------------------- Dinnertime at the Bridgerton household. Though they were far from short-staffed, tonight was different because a footman had taken sick leave and he was filling in for him, given his area of expertise and his fourteen years of service to various households, a majority of that time devoted to the Bridgertons. Not only was he paid well, but he was also treated fairly in comparison to some other poor souls who had to endure more pompous folk.
As he finished serving the final Bridgerton sibling, who happened to be Hyacinth as she was the youngest and that was how their world worked, he left the dining room and entered the hallway, not even realising that Newton was in the way while he carried an empty bowl of soup. Tripping on the animal, they fled the other way and he found his figure colliding with that of another's -- Edith. Goodness.
Almost instantly, the china flew out of her hands and the bowl flew out of his. Thankfully, his was made of metal and not... fragile material like hers. The crashing of the plates made him cringe slightly as he tried to straighten himself out, making sure he did not touch her inappropriately. He met her gaze for a moment, stunned slightly at her... beauty. Beaumont had noticed her before, but never like this in the glimmering candlelight.
Lost for words for a moment, he simply stared until he realised there was a mess to be cleaned beneath them before the entree was to be served. "I... I apologise, Edith," Beau finally spoke. "It is neither of our faults. I will clean it up."

edith & beau.
Usually, when she made a mess like this, she might have burst immediately into tears. She was the emotional sort, hated messing up...but he'd certainly distracted her enough. There was certainly a bit of a disaster on the floor, broken china everywhere, but she was caught entirely off guard by Beau. Had he always been so handsome? Had he always been right there in front of her?Edith felt her cheeks turn pink, though she was more embarrassed about the prolonged eye contact than she was about all she'd broken. Yes, there was a lot she needed to pick up and tidy up, but...well, she'd been there long enough, hopefully she wouldn't get fired for a few broken plates. She knew Benedict well enough, and while he wasn't the head of the household, this didn't need to get back to the viscount. There were plenty more plates down in the kitchens. Shaking her head, the blonde quickly moved to kneel down, prepared to pick up the pieces with her bare hands. It wasn't a very smart move, but he was distracting, her eyes were still on him. That was her first mistake.Hissing in pain, she dropped the piece of porcelain she'd picked up off the floor, holding up her bleeding hand. Crimson spilled from her palm, and she clasped it tightly, grimacing as she finally dragged her gaze away from him. "I'm sorry. I believe I'm just making things worse." | -------------------------------------------- It wasn't like he despised Newton, he just wished he wasn't in the way most of the time. The second he spotted blood in her hand, he immediately dropped all shards that he picked up with his gloved ones, focusing his entire attention on her. Thankfully, he was educated in terms of how to wrap up a wound. That had been part of his experience.
"The others can help clean this up, I'm sure," Beaumont reassured her, avoiding touching her in any way possible, even though they were entirely alone in that hallway. "Come and follow me." Beau urged softly as he led her down to the servant's kitchen, requesting that the footman downstairs help clear it up.
Pulling out a chair for Edith, he wandered over to one of the cupboards that held all the medicinal needs that they required. He took out some bandages and a herbal remedy, returning to her side and getting down on one knee, offering her his hand.

edith & beau. He truly was such a kind man, she didn't imagine most would do this for her. He was dropping everything to tend to a wound that likely wouldn't cause much harm, other than perhaps staining her dress with a little blood if she wiped it by mistake. A small cut across her palm certainly wasn't going to kill her, but he was putting her first regardless. How many would truly do that? This was certainly going to draw her in more and more, Edith couldn't help herself. She was easily drawn to those who showed her kindness, and her eye had already been on Beau every now and then. This would only solidify that.
With a gentle, almost shy smile, she followed him without question or comment, trusting him implicitly. There were plenty of household help that would be able to assist them with all they'd dropped, he was choosing to focus on her first, and she couldn't exactly turn him down. Instead, she sat when the chair was offered, watching him curiously until he approached. He certainly seemed to know what he was doing, and for that she was even more grateful. She offered out her hand, sucking in a breath as she did so. "You seem to know what you're doing. Do you...often do this?" Beaumont Bell
