.:Name:. Tabitha Slade / Tabitha Lockhart. .:Nick Name:. Tab, Tabby. .:Rank:. Nobility. .:Age:. 29.
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Like her brothers, Tabby has large blue eyes, though her hair is much fairer. She takes pride in her appearance, knowing it matters to the society she lives in, though tries her hardest not to become too vain. She dresses well, however, spending plenty of time and money with the modiste, often choosing lighter colours, whatever seems to be in with the other married ladies of the ton. .:Height:. 5'4. .:Portrayed by:. Annabelle Wallis.
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. For the most part, Tabby believes herself to be like every other woman of the ton. She knows how to hold herself, how to follow the etiquette expected of a daughter of a Duke, and she doesn't view herself as a fool. She's always picked things up rather quickly, things expected of her, anyway – piano forte, languages, numbers...she's not nearly as smart as she thinks herself to be, however. Tabby believes there's good in almost everyone, trusts easily. Too easily. Her marriage proves as such, though given that she's entirely blind to any issues there, she would be in denial if anyone accused her of being as such. .:Skills:. Horse riding, piano forte, obedience, sense of humour, book smart. .:Weaknesses:. Naive, desperate to find the good in people, easy to manipulate, lacks street smarts.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. London, England. .:Family:.
- Father - the late Duke of Wellington.
- Mother - Dowager Duchess of Wellington.
- Brother - William Slade, the current Duke of Wellington.
- Brother - Reuben Slade.
- Sister - Willa Slade.
- Husband - Charles Lockhart.
- Son - Aaron Lockhart.
- Daughter - Abigail Lockhart.
.:Occupation:. Housewife. .:History:. With an heir already in place in the Slade family, it wasn't the end of the world when the second born was a girl. The future Duke of Wellington was already two years old by the time Tabby came along, and while most parents in the ton certainly seemed to care more about the boys, the need for an heir, that was already covered. The Duke may not have been particularly concerned with a daughter, but the Duchess was. She was doted on, and falling directly in the middle of two sons certainly helped that. Between her brothers' different but equally strong personalities, Tabby learnt to be obedient at a young age. Don't ask questions, keep her head down, looking forward to her debut into society.
Unsurprisingly, said debut came with something of a bang. While there was no Lady Whistledown to gossip about her entrance into society, it seemed plenty of eyes were on her. The first daughter of the Duke of Wellington to enter society, though she wasn't named the diamond of her season, was certainly a rather big deal to those who wished to social climb. Plenty of gentlemen wished to marry into the Slade family, a fact she knew, and certainly didn't mind. As a matter of fact, she leaned into it, reveling in the attention.
Charles Lockhart was the man who eventually captured her attention, for she believed him to be a genuine gentleman. He took an interest in her for who she was, treated her the way she wished to be treated, and took no interest in her dowry, her father's title, or her family name. Fool.
Unbeknownst to her, it was never about her. It was always about the Slade name. With each passing year, she falls more and more in love with him, more devoted to her husband and children...the feeling is not mutual. Charles certainly has her fooled, she knows nothing of his courtesans, nor anything else he does behind her back. All she knows is the love of a good husband, and the desire for a third child.

but some battles leave
no victor, only a trail of
broken hearts that makes us
wonder if the price we pay
is ever worth the fight."
