Tag: @tab what doesn't KILL ME BETTER RUN Random number generator selected . . . 40. Your muse is kidnapped and mine has to pay the ransom.
Anyone who had the audacity to do this, was foolish. Beyond foolish. And Slade would not simply let someone get away with this. He knew he could not place risk upon his sister's life. She was Evelina's aunt, family by blood. So he would take care of this. Far more than merely paying the ransom note. They arrived in a carriage and Slade made his exit. The hour was late, darkness all around them, and they were to meet by the docks. It made sense. For his enemies would wish to make a quick getaway after collecting the high sum of money in exchanged for Tabitha Slade's life.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He looked at his sister, her hands bound tightly with rope, and a sac over her head. Slade knew he could pass this off as someone who wished to kidnap the Duke's sister, rather than the Crime Lord's sister. He had merely been the one to take care of it. Slade took in his surroundings without taking his eyes off the man who stepped forward. Holding the bag that contained the demanded amount, one of Slade's men took it forward and placed it in the middle. What his enemies did not know, was thanks to his informants, they had found out their plans and his men were already waiting on the boat, ready to strike. But first, he had to remove his sister from the scene. The man seemingly in charged stepped forward to collect the bag, opening it and doing a quick check at the amount.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The other, holding a dagger at Tabitha's throat suddenly shoved her forward, hard enough to cause her to fall as they made a run for it towards their getaway. Slade motioned for one of his men to go to his sister, helping her to her feet. Untying her hands, they brought her closer to Slade. "Get her in the carriage," he instructed. When she was escorted towards it, Slade spoke in an incredibly low voice, barley audible except to the man he spoke to. "Take care of this. See it to completion." Meaning, he wanted every single one of the men dead. With that, Slade went to the carriage, getting inside as he seated himself across from his sister, and began to assess the extent of injury if she did indeed have any.

tabby & slade. Whereas Tabby may have been blind to a lot of things, she wasn't a complete fool. She'd always known the Slade name held power, even if she wasn't entirely aware of the depth of it. There was plenty she didn't know, plenty that had been kept from her, but if nothing else, she knew Will was a Duke, and Reuben was...well. There were few words to describe him, nothing she could think of quite seemed to fit. The Slade name seemed to offer protection, but it was no surprise that it also had the power to cause the opposite. It was almost inevitable that, sooner or later, someone would use it against one of the women – she was only glad it was her, and not their younger sister. That said, she was terrified. She had no idea who the men were, or what they really wanted from her, and no answers seemed to be coming – only more questions. It was likely she wasn't the first relative of a noble to be kidnapped simply for money, though she could hardly see why men such as this would have anything to do with Will. They certainly hadn't been from Mayfair.Everything had been quite the blur, though she'd been certain of the danger the entire time – the tightness of her wrist bounds, the cool metal of the blade against her throat, the way they flung her around as if she was a thing, rather than a person...it only seemed to end when she was pushed to the ground, and felt someone untie her wrists. At first, she was so sure it had to be some kind of a trick, though the sound of her brother's voice proved her wrong there. She'd expected Will, not Reuben, but Tabby was hardly going to complain, not in a situation such as this. Instead, she allowed herself to be led to the carriage, and once seated inside, ensured the sack was no longer over her head. Gaze landed on her younger brother, curious written all over her face."What are you doing here?" It wasn't exactly 'thank you', but it was all she could muster. Tag: @tab what doesn't KILL ME BETTER RUN Once they were comfortably in the carriage, the driver set off. Rueben did not want his sister to see how they would handle the men. While his family may not know the extent of Slade's dealings, he would rather allow their imagination to run wild . . . than to lay witness to things to confirm suspicions. He was casually gazing out the now covered window, nonchalant about the entire ordeal, until his sister spoke.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖
It was fortunate she was not crying. He would rather she wait until Slade delivered her to their mother's arms to comfort a weeping daughter. That, or her husband, sister, or even William. Slade was perhaps the last person who would express empathy to her in her emotional state. "Responding to the ransom placed against you," he answered. His tone, rather a matter of fact voice, as if the question was answered quite literally. Although, he knew what she had meant. "Would you prefer I return you to your husband or to your mother?" He asked, wondering which person she would prefer to comfort her in such a time.

tabby & slade. The tears hadn’t started yet likely because she was still in shock — and who could blame her? Regardless of who her brothers were and what her position in society was, it was hardly an event that occurred every day. Between the kidnapping itself, and the appearance of Reuben, it seemed her head was currently spinning. She couldn’t have accounted for either of those things occurring, so used to her brother staying far away from the ton, never quite getting entangled with the goings on. If he was there now, this must have involved him somehow. “Who were those men?” There were marks on her wrists where they’d been bound, she was shaking somewhat from the shock of it all, and she’d not even checked for any other injuries. Once she got home, and reality kicked in, she’d likely need to cry it all out. For now, it seemed her tear ducts were dry, though the fear was likely still written all over her face. Was she truly safe now? Didn’t they know where she lived? “You cannot simply take me home and disappear, Reuben. How did you know to find me? Did you know them? I haven’t seen you in—“ she paused. She didn’t even know how long it had been. Long enough that she’d hoped he wouldn’t simply disappear into the night. Even if he didn’t wish to exchange pleasantries, ask how the children were, and tell her how Evie was, she had far more questions about this particular situation than she did answers. “At least tell me something.” [attr="class","mizocredit"] [newclass=.mizocredit a]font:bold 6pt calibri;letter-spacing:1px;color:#b5d1f1;[/newclass]
