Posting Layouts
As you may have seen, members on the site like to jazz up their profiles with posting layouts! This allows you to put text relevant to your character (quotes, lyrics, etc), add images and/or gifs, as well as theme the colours to fit your muse and aesthetic! We have a few notes below regarding posting layouts and what you need to know about them.Where can I find layouts from? There are a few sites that you can find templates for your posting layouts. Click the name of it to be linked to the website (NOTE: You have to register an account on them to access the posting templates)How can I customize my layout?Customizing layouts can be tricky! There is a lot you can do with them, and creator sometimes has notes in the original post with the template about using it. We do have the necessary plugins on the forum so all features for the layouts should work (i.e.Style Tag, Presto Box, Tabbed Header in Posts, etc). If you need any help with customizing you layout, feel free to reach out to us and we will help you to the best of our ability! Why isn't my layout working? This can definitely happen and there could be multiple reasons for it. The first is of course, during the customization of it, the code got messed up. A single missing bracket or space can offset everything. Another reason for this could be because you are viewing the layout in the 'PREVIEW' post panel. Unfortunately, some layouts do not work when you preview them, but will work when you post them. This is also the same as when you view them in PMs on the forum; they don't always work and all you will see in both instances is a bunch of code. The best way to avoid this, is to practice setting up your layout in a separate thread (i.e. a thread in your Character Library board) and practice there so that all you need to do is input the text.A Few Notes:
- Posting layouts are not by any means mandatory! You do not have to have them in your threads at all. It's completely optional and up to your own creativity.
- Posting layouts are meant to be unique and catered towards your muse, allowing you to add a unique look to your post! We would therefore kindly ask that you respect the creativity of others, by not copying their layouts. Of course we recognize that some people are using the same templates and that is more than ok! But every layout should be tweaked and customized to fit your muse, and not copied from another person's aesthetic (i.e. the same colours, text, etc). Just as each character has their own unique posting colour, they too should have their own customized posting layout!
- Please remember to keep the credit from the creator in your layout as well as follow any guidelines that the original poster has outlined when using the layout that they made.
- We understand that they can be a bit tricky so as we said before, we are more than happy to help you customize yours and answer any specific questions you may have about the code!
