i am a viscount
IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY
Anthony often kept himself rather business with the duties of a Viscount. He had much preferred it this way so that he would not fall behind in his work. Though, it was getting increasingly more difficult to keep up. With his sisters coming out in each season -- first Daphne would have been all too eventful and now Eloise -- Anthony knew he had to dedicate some more time at White's. This was to be well informed about the men and their standing in the ton. He made it a point to be aware of everyone's business so that he could approve -- or more likely deny -- anyone who sought his approval to court one of the Bridgeton ladies.
If Daphne's season was anything to go by, then they knew it would take more than just a few kindly spoken words to convince him. Daphne's season had also taught him a great deal -- more or less not to pair any of his sisters with men such as Nigel Berbrooke -- but that did not diminish the overprotectiveness he felt towards them. Kate certainly helped calm him that was to be sure . . . but skepticism of any man was still there. And he would not make their journey an easy one.
It brought him to his current position at White's, cradling a glass of drink in his hand while dismissing a man who approached him. He was making small talk, but Anthony could easily see ulterior motives. He would not be rude, but nor did he give the man false hope. As the man politely made his leave from Anthony's company, the Viscount just shook his head a little, looking at the departing nobleman.
His vision then lay on a rather familiar gentleman, and yet one that Anthony did not know well at all. It was rather, unsettling, for him to not know about someone in the ton. He tried to form strong connections with whomever he could and while he knew his name and basic details, he had been long absent from the ton. "Warrington!" He greeted, standing from his chair to be polite. If Anthony remembered correctly, the man was now Earl. "It has been quite some time. When did you return to be among us once more?" He asked, a smile upon his lips, and a light tease in his voice.
