eloise & frannie.
While the both of them had lady's maids to help them get ready, should they so need it, Eloise was keen to spend a few minutes alone with her sister. It was quite the relief to have her younger sister out in society with her, especially now she no longer had Penelope as a friend. She knew fine well that the younger of the two was likely to wish to dance with gentleman, and be the season's diamond, she'd cling to her on the sidelines while she could. Exactly a year apart in age, she'd always been fond of Francesca, despite their differences, and the recent time apart. There was comfort in having her there, which was exactly why she'd insisted they get ready together.
"You look beautiful," she told her, running her fingers over her sister's perfectly neat hair. Already she was giving that air of perfection that Eloise had never managed to grasp. She hadn't wished to be the diamond of the season, hadn't wished to be the perfect young lady, who attracted the attention of all eligible gentlemen in Grosvenor Square – but it still made her feel a little out of place, knowing she was sandwiched in between two sisters who made it all look so easy, while she was off rebelling and getting involved in political radicalism.
For a second, Eloise was uncharacteristically quiet, looking at her younger sister through the mirror. "Are you sure you're ready?" she finally blurted out, not quite sure whether she was feeling protective or simply nervous that everything was about to change. "I am certain after the scandals of the previous season, mama would understand if you wished to put this off a little longer. Neither Anthony nor I made this debut easy for you. Do you truly feel ready?"
