Aurelia had done her research. She did not take the decision of who to target easily. Her late husband's position among the elite afforded her connections to the ton. In addition to the paperwork of her clients, many had come to offer their condolences. She had played the grieving widow for too long. Her period of mourning had ended several weeks ago and she was ready to act. After meticulous planning and care, she selected her next target: Mister Colin Bridgerton. While he was no heir -- which deviated from her usual course -- he was among one of the most notable families.

She had learned of his flirtatious nature, deeming him to be quite an eligible bachelor, and desired by man. She had learned of his once existing love for a woman named Marina Thompson, willing to marry her only to discover she had lied to the man. She had learned from others his dashing behavior and kind nature, particularly towards women. That, coupled with the fact that he had many sisters made him a rather easy choice. While siblings could prove to be a challenge -- for the more people in the family, the more complicated it could get -- Aurelia was willing to take the risk. She intended to use his kindness against him. To have him dote on her, give her all she desired. And then when the time was right . . . she would strike.

Using what she learned of him, she was finally bringing her plan to fruition. She had hired a few men to harass and mug her. Learning of his whereabouts this evening, Aurelia strateg8ically placed herself in his path -- though not too obviously. It was in an alleyway, one rather abandoned. When she received word from a messenger that he had departed, Aurelia tossed him coin and waved her hand to get the other two men into position. She was pressed against the stone wall, one of the man's chest pressed against hers. Her gaze was toward the ground, playing the terrified young lady in fear of her life -- or worse.

His hands moved over her body, as Aurelia whimpered with 'fear'. "Give us whatever you have," the other man threatened. Aurelia's eyes briefly darted to the approaching shadow. Her eyes looked to the 'attacker' and gave a slight nod. As a result, one man struck her across the face. She had informed him previously not to do it hard enough to leave a mark. No man liked the sight of a blemished woman. She cried out in pain at the attack, tears filled her eyes as she allowed them to spill. "P-Please . . . I . . . I have nothing of worth!" Her voice meek, stammering . . . utterly pathetic. But she would do whatever she could to get what she wanted. "We'll just see about that," the man threatened. And with any hope, her shining knight in armour would come to the rescue of a damsel in distress.
