eloise & daphne. There were few things worse than having to sit through a conversation like this with her older sister, Eloise was fairly certain of that. It was a form of torture, having to listen to Daphne speak of marriage, matches and what it was like to be out in society. She'd bit her tongue quite often in her sister's season, though not always managed to do so – she'd gotten frustrated at her playing the piano, found herself snapping about her sister hiding how afraid she was...there were moments when she couldn't quite understand how they were sisters, how they had been raised by the same mama. There were, however, moments when she appreciated Daphne just as much as any of her other siblings...this, however, was one of those moments of pure frustration.
Teeth grinding together, Eloise allowed her foot to bounce, trying to get out some of that frustrated energy. What she truly wanted was to snap at her sister, but she knew that would hardly be the best start to her social season. This was all going to be terrible enough, without her getting into a fight with a family member before she had to be presented to the queen.
"Must we keep pretending I'm going to listen to any of your advice?" Eloise finally managed, scowling at her older sister. Daphne meant well, she certainly did know what she was talking about (Eloise was no fool; she may not have wished to marry at all, but she knew her sister was lucky, finding a love match in her first season), but that didn't mean she wanted to listen, wanted the same thing for herself. Eloise's idea of 'lucky' was never having to wed at all. "If you're going to insist on being here, perhaps you can help with this ridiculous feather I have to wear, to ensure I look all the more like a bird eager to find my own nest. Must we keep speaking of what to look for in a gentleman? I would rather not look for one at all." lyss

Eloise, there… are perhaps darker turns in these woods than we’ve been taught to expect There is light to be found at their end. And I know… one day… we both will find it.
It seemed as though as the next season approached the whole Ton was a buzz. Although Daphne was trying to focus on more wifely duties she couldn't help but want to distract herself with the gossip and the rush of all that was to come. Her own season had been so much of a success for more reasons than the obvious one but now it was once again to put the Bridgerton name in the cat and mouse came that everyone was so eager to play. Daphne knew that it was going to alot of work for Eloise to be well prepared but if she actually would listen and follow Daphne's instructions then she would be ready in no time. The competition was fierce, like every year before but she was a Bridgerton and no competition was ever too much for someone with Bridgerton blood running through their veins.
Daphne spent so much of her life focusing on her own season and trying to set the stage for the rest of her siblings. Now that her time to shine was over it was her sisterly duty to help those under her so that they too could also succeed. However Eloise was going to be no easy task. The two had never really been able to see eye to eye when it came to finding a husband or love or even discussing those sort of things. She never gave up hope, she wanted Eloise to find the happiness she deserved. There was so much more to life than she would ever know, so much Daphne herself had learned.
There was so much to teacch Eloise and yet there wasn't enough time , Daphne wasn't going to give up just yet. She was determined to have another successful Bridgerton season. Eloise I know this is not ideal for you but it's going to happen whether you like it or not. So instead of making a fool of yourself I suggest you listen to what I'm trying to tell you. She sighed watching her sister carefully and shaking her head. You have the confidence so please can you try. Daphne said getting up from where she was sitting to stand in front of her sister. You need to be poised. Now sloaching and as for the feather just try to pretend it isn't there. All eyes will be on you so please be on your best behavior.

eloise & daphne. Everyone, both within and outside of the Bridgerton family, was well aware that Eloise was going to be the most difficult of them all. Anthony, at least, seemed to have accepted he needed to get married, and would therefore accept a wife eventually, there'd be very little issue with any of her younger siblings (Hyacinth would perhaps be a handful, but she was far from old enough for that to be a concern yet), Colin would eventually realise there were more women around than just Lady Crane, and Benedict...well, he and Eloise certainly had the most in common, but as the second son, he didn't have the same pressures as long as Anthony was still a bachelor. Eloise, however, was suddenly the oldest unmarried girl, and a part of her couldn't help but wish Daphne hadn't had such a successful first season. There was no way she'd be nearly as perfect.
It went without saying that she wouldn't be the diamond, and she hardly envisioned herself doing much with gentlemen other than treading on their toes. She might, on occasion, suffer through dances, but she already had it in mind to write fake names on her dance card, and cling to the walls with Penelope. Unlike her best friend, she was no wallflower; she was too loud, too boisterous, too quick to share her opinions, but that didn't mean she wished to dance.
"I look ridiculous," she muttered, not bothering to hide her scowl. Of course Daphne would point out all eyes would be on her, she'd seemed to lap up the attention. This was hardly the kind of attention Eloise wanted, she didn't want the male gaze anywhere near her. "Why must it happen whether I like it or not? Mother wishes for us to be happy, and I'm hardly going to be happy when I'm married and silent. We do not have the same priorities, sister. Is that so hard to understand?" lyss

As much as Daphne tried to respect her sister's choices there were some that could not be ignored. Of course anyone who had spent any time at all with Eloise knew that being a debutante and searching for a husband was so far down on her to do list it was practically non existing. There was just something inside Daphne that couldn't let it go. She had always hoped someone would come and change Eloise's mind and she would have a happily ever after, or something as close as she could get to it. The time spent with her sister usually had some form of bickering between them, no matter the subject. It was as if the two were night and day and each trying to get the other to see their point of view. Daphne had tried but she was set in her ways and she knew this was going to happen one way or another so she might as well help Eloise not make a fool of herself.
It was so difficult sometimes to speak with Eloise about these things because they differed so much on the subject. Even now that Daphne was happily married, her sister didn't long for that same kind of happiness Daphne had found for herself. Daphne knew how hard her mother had tried as well and Daphne wanted to lend a hand and try to give some guidance or something of that nature. Their name was highly regarded by alot of people so Eloise had to put on a smile and try her best.
Stop it Eloise. You look lovely. She tried to give a sympathetic smile as she could feel her sister's hatred for this whole thing. I understand perfectly well. Believe me I do. You have to remember your place dear sister. It's not just about a husband you know. It's about introducing you into society itself. You can't hide out here your whole life. She sighed throwing her arms up and then crossing them Although I'm sure that you would be perfectly content with that idea.

eloise & daphne. Remember her place. It took everything in Eloise not to snap at her, for while she was more than a little bit tempted to do exactly that (and seldom held her tongue, nor held herself back), Daphne wasn't the problem. Daphne had learnt from the society they'd been raised in, and unlike Eloise, wasn't trying to fight against all they'd been taught. She seemed happy enough as a wife and a mother, though Eloise had always assumed she would be. She and Francesca both seemed to have it in them, but somehow as the middle sister, she never had.
Most of her anger was towards society, the expectations upon women simply for being born as women; the pressures upon them, the inequality and the lack of opportunities. It wasn't her sister's fault she was expected to marry and have babies, wasn't her sister's fault she couldn't make her own way in the world. Still, her words caused Eloise to scowl.
"Why is that my only option? Why should I not be able to make my own way in the world if I wish to?" She knew why, and that was simply because the ton would not have it. "I know I do not have a choice, but I cannot simply force myself to enjoy this. I told mama I was ready for society, but in truth, I do not think I ever will be." lyss
