.:Personality:. Genevieve(as she prefers to be called) is quite a mysterious woman. She fakes being French knowing French Modistes are more sought after and she can make the ton pay a higher amount of money for her designs because of that. She is quite observant and listens carefully to patrons coming in to shop at her store always in need for more gossip to fall onto her lap. She is proud of herself for keeping up false appearances ans not having been caught with her lies by too many people from the ton. She likes to attend soirées mostly those not involving much of the ton as she wants to keep her social activities somewhat private. She doesn’t have any food preferences as long as it’s edible, really, she will try just about any food. While she tends to be mostly charming to everyone, not wanting to put off potential patrons, she sometimes finds it hard to be ‘serving people’, instead of having people do the work for her. Her greatest fear is for everyone from the ton discovering she is somewhat of a fraud as she poses as a French Modiste which she isn’t actually as she was never born there and fakes her accent.

.:History:. Genevieve Delacroix, born Mary Jane to Hiram and Dorothy Cross (two working class people, her father being a gardener and her mother, a scullery maid), was never really allowed near children from the families who employed her parents as she was not ‘good enough’ to mingle with ‘well bred children’ like they were, children of lords and ladies of the ton. Otherwise, she was taken care of by neighbours whenever her mother wasn’t nearby as she was not allowed to bring her into the house of the families she worked for over the years.

So, little Mary Jane barely knew her mother and father. Her father died by the age of forty, from a heart problem, leaving her and her mother with barely enough money to survive. She had to follow into her mother’s footsteps eventually, working as a scullery maid herself when her mother was no longer one, to help pull her weight and bring more food on their table, working all the way up to become a governess. Sneakily enough, she ended up travelling to France and worked there as a governess, gaining enough money to finally open up her dressmaker shop in London when she came back by the age of 21. As she hopes to one day submit her designs to a revered house of dressmakers in France, she felt it was a good thing she had been working there and getting to know all the good spots while planning her next steps.


So, once back in English soil, she opened up her Modiste Boutique, having changed her name to Genevieve Delacroix, pretending to be French to attract more ladies of the ton, luring them in and making them believe she was a fancy French Modiste, them not even minding to pay high prices for her exquisite creations, never questioning her credentials or anything about her person. She had a few flings here and there, but never anything too serious as she feels like she is her own woman and doesn’t need a man to survive, she can do it on her own. Genevieve has a strong will and will never be afraid to stand up for herself.
