Well, fuck. Simon had been trying to avoid his best friend since this morning. They had only just recently worked on bridging the distract that courting then marrying Anthony's sister had brought, and now Anthony of all people had walked in on Simon pleasuring his wife.
"Bridgerton," Simon greeted, as he stood in one of the doorways of Clydesdale where everyone had gathered for Simon and Daphne's son's first birthday tomorrow. He had not expected the Bridgertons to arrive before the supper hour, much less luncheon. So while his son slept, Simon had taken the advantage of time alone with his wife and had 'courted' her in the library. In walked her notoriously over protective brother, just as Simon began to kiss between her legs. That had thoroughly killed the mood.
Not wanting the awkwardness to turn into something that affected the moon of tonight's table, Simon had sought out Anthony in the room he was using while staying here. "You arrived a might earlier then expected."

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU If only there was a way to burn out the parts of ones mind that one wished to forever forget. For if they did not . . . it would instead, forever scar them. And unfortunately, that was exactly what had happened to Anthony Bridgerton. His objections to Simon and Daphne's union -- specifically the entire courting process -- was no secret. He had however, come to accept their marriage, only to be at odds with the man once more when he had clearly done something to cause a rift between them. It had taken effort on both their parts, but they were finally reaching a place where all that was in the past. They were not family after all. Today, they had arrived at his estate, the need for two carriages to hold all the Bridgertons, and their luggage.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Though Anthony believed that the carriage carried more gifts for the first of the next generation Bridgerton son, than their luggage. Never the matter, for the point was that they were here. While others were being shown to their rooms, Anthony took it upon himself to properly greet the Duke and Duchess, being informed by Rose that they were in the library. How he wished he had joined the rest of his family rather than trying to be a decent guest. For when he pushed open the doors, and saw what he did . . . his eyes widened in the horror and he quickly spun around and slammed the door shut. Yes. A most scarring mental image indeed.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He immediately went to his room, refusing to see anyone else until he gathered himself properly. Hearing Simon eventually come to his door however, caused Anthony to slightly stiffen, straightening his posture as he turned to look at the man. "Hastings." His tone was flat, his expression holding that typical look that Anthony often held to silence or made his anger known. While he knew there was of course nothing wrong with a husband pleasuring his wife . . . it was his sister that he witnessed being pleasured and that, made the entire scene rather unsettling to witness. "Yes, my timing does seem to be impeccable." The tone somewhat sarcastic.

Simon could tell that Anthony was not about to challenge him to another duel, which he was grateful for. Anthony did not seem awkward or in a rage. It was a good sign that this could be dealt with without dramatics. Though with Anthony, there was always some dramatics.
"Not the word I would use." Simon said in a slow and low voice, while watching Anthony move around. They had been fast and easy friends in their youth, but they were still very different. Simon was more sill, and controlled in his movements, choices, and temperament (in most occasions). Anthony was not. It was what had made it easy to be around him.
"Perhaps a knock before entering would be wise in the future?" Simon asked, thought it wasn't much of a question. Anthony's sarcasm hinted he already knew that.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU It was a fair point that Simon had made, for Anthony was not entirely certain as to what word he would use either. Though he was well aware that Hastings had not missed the sarcasm in it. Simon knew Anthony quite well. Better than most. He glared at his brother in law, though not the same murderous glare that he otherwise perhaps would have given him . . . one that he would have been faced with during a dual. So while not as intense, it was a glare none the less. "Or perhaps you should show restraint in an otherwise public room when you are expecting company." While recognizing it was Hastings estate . . . Anthony still could not help but argue back, for this was his sister that he had the misfortune of laying his eyes upon. He did not want to ever have to walk in on anyone but . . . this was his sister!
