Application Tips
After choosing which character you would like to write on a role playing, the next natural step is... writing the application! This is a wonderful way to truly build your character and let others know about your muse! However, sometimes we get stuck on what to write, or where to start, or what to include! We have some basic guidelines in the actual application template thread found HERE, but in this thread, we will be going into more detail in each section, and even posing some questions that you can ask yourself and answer in your character's bio to help generate some content! We have also linked various resource threads we have in each applicable section.
You of course do not have to cover everything listed in this thread, in your application! We absolutely want our writers to have creative freedom to write about what they want to write about and not feel pressured to discuss everything here! This thread is merely meant as a tip sheet in case you are stuck on what to write and need some ideas and inspiration!
We also strongly recommend reading THIS thread which has some notes regarding canon and OC characters! We hope that you will find these tips helpful and that it will allow you to have a quick approval for your application!

- .:NAME:.
- The full name of your character, first and last. Click HERE for Regency Name Suggestions.
- .:NICK NAME:.
- A nickname or alias that your character has; you can even add who calls them these nicknames if its something special to a select few.
- .:RANK:.
- Select one of the following ranks for this section: Royalty, Nobility, Middle Class, Lower Class, Nomads, Other.
- Please do not select a group outside of the above categories as we use this information for our site statistics.
- Click HERE for more information about ranks.
- .:AGE:.
- Please ensure your character's age is realistic to the actor's age; i.e not having your character 20 years younger than the actual actor if you are using images that reflect the actual age (you may find older movies or shows that the actor starred in which can be used for your muse)
- For this section, it is helpful to either state your character's birth year, or to say that they are ____ years old in 1813 (which is the year that season 1 takes place)
- Listing a birth year or stating the age in a certain year, gives other characters an idea of how old your character would be at a certain point and thus, make timelines easier to plot out in threads (especially since we have a fluid timeline).
- It is also helpful to you as the mun to keep things consistent and on track as your plots develop and threads progress.

- .:PORTRAYED BY:.
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
- .:PERSONALITY:.
- minimum 1 paragraph; below are some questions that you can answer in your bio to help build content
- What does your character like? (i.e hobbies, sports, activities, food, etc)
- What does your character dislike (are there certain activities they do not enjoy? certain things that they can not stand?)
- What are some character traits to describe your character, positive or negative; elaborate on each one (i.e patient, stubborn, funny, adventurous, shy, arrogant, short tempered, even tempered, outgoing, charismatic, etc)
- What sort of company does your character like to keep (do they enjoy spending time with their family? Do they have many friends, or a close few? Do they not have neither?)

- What are your character's fears (What is your character most afraid of? What do they dread?)
- Is your character educated? What do they like to learn about? What did they study? How does that impact their personality and perception of the world?
- In this section it is important not to have traits that contradict one another; for example, having your character very outgoing and social who loves to meet new people, but at the same time they are shy and isolated and don't like socializing.
- Of course there are occasions where certain traits are more pronounced in certain company and circumstances, but please stay true to your character to help give everyone a clear understanding of who they are.
- .:SKILLS:.
- What is your character good/proficient at; elaborate on each one (i.e. which: musical instrument, sport, game, activity, etc)
- You can also include how long they have been doing it for, why they enjoy it, etc; add detail to the skill if you like
- .:WEAKNESSES:.
- Please list realistic and clear weaknesses for your character to maintain a balance on the site.
- You can reference parts of your character's personality to summarize, but please ensure they are acceptable weaknesses
- Elaborate on why its a weakness: for example, if you list "family" as a weakness, explain why it is one because it could also be a strength
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
- .:BIRTHPLACE:.
- What city and/or country were they born in?
- .:FAMILY:.
- Be as detailed or general as you would like in this section
- You can list your character's family's names, positions, ages, and whether they are alive or deceased
- .:OCCUPATION:.
- If your character has an occupation, list it here
- We use the information in this section when updating the Rank thread as we list your character's occupation after their tag.
- This is also the place to list any titles that your character may have. For example: if your character is nobility, then you can list here whether they are Earl of ________ , or Duke of _________ etc!
- We also use the title section for our Family Tree thread to ensure that names of places that someone is Earl of, Duke of, Marquess of, etc do not overlap or repeat.
- .:HISTORY:.
- A minimum of 2 paragraphs; below are just a few of the many questions that you can answer in your bio to help build content.
- Where were they born?
- What kind of family were they born into (loving? disciplined? uncaring?)
- When were their siblings born? Do they have any? How did that effect their upbringing?
- What kind of relationship do they have with their family?
- What was life like for them growing up in the rank they were born into? (privileged? poor?)
- Did they suffer any losses growing up? How did that effect them?
- Have they traveled before? Where did they go? What did they do there?
- Where do they spend most of their time? The city or country?
- How does their occupation effect their every day life?
- What are their plans for the next social season? Is it their first one? Have they been through it before?
Content in the bio may change or continue to build as you develop your character. We would ask that you not make any changes to your bio without discussing it with the admin first! The only exception to this is if your character is a canon (or book character that comes into the show) and therefore, edits must be made in accordance to what is revealed in the show. There would then be an expectation that you are to edit your bio and make any necessary changes! We hope this tip sheet has proved to be helpful and if you have any questions, concerns, or anything to add, please feel free to send a PM!
