tagged words not a clue! notes ooh! | Siena left out the backdoor of Genevieve's shop, wandering out on the street. Gently placing her hood over her head, she peered around for a moment to ensure that her path was clear, and then stepped onto the cobbled street. The next place on her mind was the opera house. She needed to practice as she had an important performance the next night.
Strolling down the street, Sienna kept her head down, not wanting to be seen by the public eye considering she hardly had any powder on her face, revealing that she wasn't exactly the face that the Ton saw on stage. Simply speaking, she was in no mood to be noticed. Suddenly, she felt her petite figure bump into a larger one, and the brunette stumbled back slightly. "Excuse me, sir." Assuming it was a man, of course. The singer looked up, eyes meeting with ones she was incredibly familiar with. |

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU The closing of the season had not quite been what Anthony had expected. It had not quite been the happy finish one may have hoped for. He was glad to see his sister and Simon had resolved whatever conflict arose between them, and they currently remained two of a select few -- only family at the moment -- with whom he had shared his intentions to find a way in the next season. It was not a decision he made lightly, and one he had practically spent the entire evening before first verbal acknowledgement of it, contemplating. But after how things with Siena had ended . . . he needed to learn from it. He needed to learn how foolish he was, for being so attached to a woman he could clearly not have.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The days that followed felt, mundane. Yet they were filled with wrapping up the events of the past few months. Today's schedule brought Anthony to the city to run some errands, grateful to find something -- anything -- to occupy his time and thus, keep from dwelling on the pain from recent events. He was stopped in the streets by a familiar face, conversing with the man amicably enough . . . when he felt someone bump into him. He turned around to face her, a what would have been polite and reassuring smile numbed at the surprise of who he saw. It was her. Anthony attempted to quickly recover himself, straightening his shoulders as his eyes fixated on her. What cruelty was this, that he see her so soon when wounds have not yet even begun to heal.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Miss Rosso." The formality nearly destroyed him and yet . . . it was necessary. So necessary after their last conversation. To be so filled with hope, only to have it crashing down to the harsh reality of this world. "My apologies." For it was the polite thing to do, to apologize for the collision and yet . . . the words felt, flat. While he meant them, his defenses blocked the deeper meaning of the words. An apology, for everything . . . and yet he dare not unleash that onslaught of emotions. Not when he was still attempting to put himself back together, piece by piece. Yet, seeing her now . . . threatened it cause it all to crumble.

tagged words not a clue! notes ooh! | Siena had only just left her fiancée, deciding that it was the best decision. As much as she hated to admit it, Anthony Bridgerton was a recurrent thought, day and bloody night. Though she believed her nights spent at the opera house would help relieve such thoughts, they did not, and she knew that she could not remain with a man she did not love, especially with her ex lover inhabiting her mind rent free.
Seeing him here and now filled with her with absolute dread, barely knowing what to say as her full lips parted ways for a moment. All the colour from her face had washed away as she remained frozen, staring deeply into the brown eyes that once filled her with hope and desire. ”My Lord…” Siena managed, feeling fresh tears sting her eyes. Oh, why was she crying? She needed to be stronger.
”Can we talk?” She suddenly asked, hoping for a positive reply. |

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Seeing the tears in her eyes, made his heart ache. With four younger sisters, his protective nature particularly where women were concerned was not something that could simply be switched off. Despite the times where he wished it could. So seeing women that he cared so deeply for, Siena in this case -- and the one he had been with the longest out of any other woman or mistress, made him have to fight back the instinct he felt to reach out and hold her in his arms. To offer any form of physical comfort, for Anthony was a man of action more than words. But . . . boundaries had been set. She was not his anymore, and he was not hers. They did not belong to each other and so, he had no right to.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Instead, all he could do was watch helplessly as he could see her . . . hurting. But then, she asked to talk. Anthony did not dare hope that she wished to reconcile. He knew he had ended things at one point between them, believing it was for the best . . . yet there was also that belief -- that consistent pattern -- that they always found their way back to each other. His heart could not afford to believe that this would be the case. It could not suffer the disappointment nor the breaking of it for a second time. "Yes," he confirmed. Perhaps he should have said no. Perhaps he should place that distance. But . . . such feelings for someone did not just go away. "Where shall we do so?" He asked, assuming that the public street was not the place. But, could he trust himself in private with her? He had to. He knew that he had to but it would indeed, become that much more difficult. So instead, he would give her that choice and go based on her own comfort; on her own preference.

tagged words not a clue! notes ooh! | His acceptance brought a wave of relief upon her, and she instantly wiped the tears that had formed from her eyes, not wanting them to trickle down and reveal her true weakness, which was precisely Anthony Bridgerton. They'd left things off in a horrid state, her main motive being less heartbreak and a life in reality, which was far from being his wife.
"Follow me, but tread behind." As she did not desire attention from any unwanted ears and eyes that early morning. Pulling her hood further over her head, she traveled down the cobbled street until she reached the backdoor of Genevieve's shop. Opening the door, Siena glanced left and right before entering the place, waiting for Anthony to enter. Where to begin?
Upon feeling him enter, she began, "I've left him." |

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony did as he was instructed, keeping suitable distance between them as he followed her towards somewhere they could speak privately. It was different this time, that much he knew. Realizing they were arriving at the modiste's shop he paused, taking a deep breath to brace himself for whatever this conversation held. Whatever she wished to speak to him about. He had to maintain control which . . . was often so difficult in her presence. For he often felt like when he was with her, he could just relinquish his control.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But now . . . it took all in him not to just pull her into his arms and tell her how much he missed her. When she turned to speak to him, Anthony had to once again, fight back his natural reaction to her words. She left the man that he had seen her with. The thought of her being with him was maddening enough but . . . he now thought of the implications of her words. She was telling him she was not with the other man. Was she with, any other man? What did this mean? What should it mean? Yet there was one question that played in his mind. One that made him wonder . . . about her, about the other.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The reasons of why she had left him still unclear to the Viscount, yet he need be assured of one thing. "Did he hurt you?" His words came out stronger than he had planned, for they were thick with the protectiveness he felt over her. He had no claim to her, as he well knew but the sudden thought of her having to flee another because another may have harmed her; lay a hand on her, verbally abused her . . . anything of the sort, caused Anthony's blood to boil and his question to come out with such strength and potential anger towards anyone who would dare do such a thing to her.

tagged words not a clue! notes ooh! | His question surprised her, really, but it wasn't the tone of voice that he used, it was more along the idea that he still cared for her. Oh, little did she know when she spent every single night lying in bed, even beside her ex-fiance, tossing and turning and wondering what Anthony thought about her. Did he despise her for making such a decision? It was termed realism. How on earth could he blame her for knowing how the world worked? He was a viscount and she... a lowly entertainer to the masses.
"No, My Lord," She swiftly answered, maintaining a short distance between them. How could she know his true sentiments toward her? How would he react if she were to take a step forward and try to reach out to him? "I left him..." There was a short pause as she did not know how to put her thoughts to words so easily. Usually, she could, holding the power to entice men like Anthony Bridgerton, but for the time being, she'd lost it entirely. "I left him because I realised that I cannot stop thinking about you," Siena confessed, her heart pounding against her chest. "Day and night."

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU There was immediate relief when she told him that he had not hurt her. Anthony could only think of what he intended to do had the horrible alternative occurred. But gone were these thoughts as she continued to speak . . . revealing that she had left him because she could not stop thinking about him. The words struck him, though he remained perfectly still. His heart swelled with emotion, flooded with feelings, overwhelmed with the notion. It felt both wonderful and painful at the same time. An odd juxtaposition that the Viscount struggled to suppress.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ To hear that she could not stop thinking about him, was all he longed to hear. Similar words had once been spoken to her when he had ended their relationship for the first time . . . telling her that he could not think of anything else but her. So now, to have the same sentiment shared about him . . . he should feel overjoyed. And yet, there was the pain. The pain and hurt of heartbreak. Of what the two of them have endured together and apart. The separation on more than one occasion. But . . . here they were. For it seemingly felt impossible to truly stay apart. Like a moth to a flame, he was drawn to her in inexplicable ways. Ways that the eldest son was unable to comprehend. Unable to articulate.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ All he could do was gaze at her, the stoic appearance he had struggled to maintain starting to slip and left was the onslaught of emotions softening his gaze. He was unsure which emotions were even behind his eyes. He only knew that it was difficult to keep the appearance of a Viscount in her presence. Because to her . . . he just wanted to be a man. He wished to strip the title from his name and allow them to just be. Right now, he held no thoughts of his intentions to find a wife, or the reasons that they could not be together or anything that would make him step outside of this shop and never turn to look at her again. Left only, was the risk of the emptiness left inside of him, within his very heart . . . being fulfilled by her.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "What do you want of me Siena?" He asked, not even having planned the question. His voice almost desperately pleading with her for some answers. Was it need for reconciliation? Or need to push him away so to avoid another heartbreak? He did not know. His words unplanned and his mind and heart racing. "What do you . . . desire?" He found himself asking, inching closer to her and knowing he should not. The distance between them both a safety, and a curse. He wanted her. Only her. "Tell me what you want," he continued to urge, pleading, begging because what he also knew . . . was that his heart could not endure another break should circumstances force them apart again.

She wasn't sure how this sudden meeting would turn out. Would he leave her stranded, imitating the same actions she'd committed so many nights ago, or would he be pleased to know that all she desired in the world was, in fact, him? It worried her because despite providing the man that she adored with heartbreak, she did not want to experience the same fate. Could he truly blame her for making her choice? It was a society that would never accept her. What would be the outcome if she had joined him at the ball? His question surprised her. Siena remained rooted to her spot as she listened to his words, inquiring what it was that she truly wanted from him. It was like he was pleading with her, his gaze sending shivers down her spine. As he inched closer to her, she did not move back. Her heart raced. "I desire you, My Lord," Siena found herself uttering without hesitation. It was taking her everything not to pull him into a deep kiss. Everything in her soul. "Only you. That is all I want. How may I have you without the sentiments of society trying us? I'm not sure, but all I know is that I need you."
Siena inched closer now, hand shaking as she gripped the edge of a table. "Please tell me you are not in love with somebody else..." If he was, then she could not blame him. How could she? At the same time, however, she wanted him all for herself. "If you are, then I assure you that I will never cross paths with you again." It hurt her to say that. | scared to admit my shortcoming's led to overdraft of this affair MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0 | |
