i' m n o t b o u n d b y THE RULES OF SOCIETY While Benedict did not overly frequent visits to White's or other Gentlemen's clubs, he was rather intrigued to hear that Will Mondrich had opened his own club. His brother vouched for it and Benedict rather admired the man for all his skills and the efforts he made to support his family. So in order to further show his support for the business endeavor, Benedict attended the new club. Upon entering he immediately smiled, enjoying the look of it. It was certainly less busy than White's -- which Benedict also appreciated. It could indeed be rather tiring to socialize with so many and engage in the same surface conversations. Sport, politics, and of course . . . women. So the second son most certainly welcomed the change.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ Ordering a drink, he casually walked around, noticing a man sitting there and a somewhat familiar face. Not one Benedict knew incredibly well but one he had seen in passing. And, well enough to know his name at least. Therefore, it would be rather rude to not introduce himself. Besides, as previously acknowledged there weren't a great deal of people here so blending into the background -- as Benedict was so accustomed to doing -- was no simple task. "Mister Selkirk," he greeted, standing in front of the seated male, a smile upon the Bridgerton's lips. "A happy coincidence to see you here," he continued.

Percy had always been more of an outdoorsman, and now was no exception to that. The city had always been overwhelming to him, and any time he could spend away from the packed streets, the more he felt at home.
He had been in the city for several months now, and had decided to go to one of the clubs here in London before leaving to return to his manor. Percy placed an order for a beer, beginning to enjoy it and talking with Thad before he heard his name called.
"Mister Bridgerton, " Percy said with a smile, "Good to see you."

i' m n o t b o u n d b y THE RULES OF SOCIETY Benedict's smile remained in response to Selkirk's own greeting and smile. "And you as well," he stated, returning the sentiment. "How do you find Mister Mondrich's club?" He asked, wondering what the feedback was. Benedict truly wished for his business to succeed.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ There was an admiration that came with a man not born into wealth, to embark as such business ventures. What was not to admire about that? At least from Benedict's perspective. "My apologies," he suddenly said, realizing that there was another man seated with Selkrik. "I do hope I am not interrupting anything?" He asked, hoping he had not distracted either of them from their meeting whether it was business or casual.

Percy took a swig of his drink, moving over to allow the other man a seat if he so wished. "It's quite nice, though I've always preferred the countryside to the cities, truth be told," he admitted with a chuckle. "I just find that the cities are so crowded, and at least with the injury I received in the army, I find it flaring up more on the stones and such."
Thad wrapped an arm around Percy, pulling the young Englishman close. Percy finished his drink, buying himself and Thad another. "No need to apologize, Mister Bridgerton. I believe you've met Mister Bannerman here before, have you not? He and I served together, and have been close as kin since we were both but boys."
He was surprised that Benedict hadn't seen Thad, considering Thad was quite a bit taller and broader than him.

i' m n o t b o u n d b y THE RULES OF SOCIETY Benedict felt a wave of relief when Percy shifted a little, and the second son took the unspoken invitation to seat himself. It would look far less awkward to sit among them than to carry a conversation standing. Relief was also found in the fact that he was not imposing his company onto them. Listening intently to him explain his preference for the country, Benedict felt for the man who received such an injury while serving his country. "I am quite sorry to hear of its inconveniences and the pain it may cause with your injury." Sincere words, yet not overly sympathetic for Benedict knew that not all men desired such sympathies. And he'd much rather not cause such offense.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ "What brings you to the city then?" He wondered with a soft smile. Upon the introduction of the other man, Benedict's eyes met his, as his smile remained in place. "A pleasure, as I do not believe we have yet been acquainted." Benedict did not frequent White's as much as his older brother did. Benedict's smile brightened at the reveal that they had known each other since they were young. "That is quite wonderful to hear, that you kept such a close bond. I imagine the challenges found in serving were more bearable with such support. Practically like brothers, I would imagine," he added on with a continued smile.
