| -------------------------------------------- Beaumont kept his eye on his pocket watch as he perched down in the servant's quarters, drinking his morning tea. He was always awake at six o'clock sharp, ready to start the day by grooming himself and ensuring that Benedict's clothes for that day were well-ironed and ready to be donned. The clock in the servant's quarters as well as his contraption chimed 9 o'clock and he rose from his seat, fixing his attire before taking his leave from the lower area.
He'd risen to such a position over many years and there were many more to come. Beau had been Benedict's valet for only a few months now, so he was still getting used to the fellow man's requirements. The first task of the day was making Benedict his morning tea, entering the kitchen area to complete the task in a timely manner, and ensuring added adequate accessories to the tray, all while holding it with his left palm.
Silent as a mouse, he walked up the Bridgerton staircase and down one of the many hallways, stopping before Benedict's door. Waiting a moment, he took a deep breath in before walking in. Beaumont set the tray on one of the tables and approached the curtains, opening them to let some light in. "Good morning, My Lord," Beau addressed his employer. "Would you prefer the newspaper or other forms of entertainment this morning?"

i' m n o t b o u n d b y THE RULES OF SOCIETY Benedict had come in late the previous night -- these parties rather enticing affairs that kept him until the late hour. So rising in the morning did not come as swiftly as it may have in his previous years, or months even. It made him all the more fortunate that he had such a diligent and punctual worker in the household that ensured he rose at a decent hour. Squeezing his eyes shut he slowly opened one and then the other as Beaumont let sun seep into the bedroom. Benedict raised his arms in a stretch as he attempted to sit up for a moment.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ "That is quite alright," he assured him. Part of Benedict always felt that . . . discomfort, when it came to household staff performing more than what was expected. Even expectations lay at the bear minimum for the second son. After all, why ask someone to do something that he could do himself. "The offer is appreciated," he added, wanting Beau to know that he was grateful for the offer. Turning his head to eye the tray that Beau brought him, Benedict proceeded to sit a bit more upright. "Have you eaten?" He asked the man, wondering if he had risen early enough to eat something or if he had simply been too busy. If it was the latter, Benedict would ensure that the man ate proper meal.

| -------------------------------------------- "Have you eaten?"
The question caught him slightly off guard, so much as he paused for a second while holding the teapot that held Benedict's morning energy. "Yes, My Lord, I've eaten almost half an hour ago," The commoner smiled, continuing the pour the tea into the cup on the silver tray. "You need not worry about me and worry about yourself, first." Beaumont nodded once and he picked up the glass of milk, pouring some into the tea before proceeding with the spoon of sugar.
As he mixed it, he addressed his employer once more, "They are saying it will rain today, my lord, so I would advise against any riding activities," After Beaumont finished preparing the tea, he moved over toward Benedict's ironed clothes for the day, grabbing a brush and ensuring there were no specks of dirt on it. There should not have been, at least. "Have you any particular plans today, sir?" |

i' m n o t b o u n d b y THE RULES OF SOCIETY Benedict was glad to hear that Beaumont had at least eaten. It made sense of course. The man was right on schedule with every task and as Benedict often thought, it was most impressive. "Thank you," he told him as he reached for his completed tea. "Perhaps it too is my duty to ensure your well being." he suggested with a bit of a smile, not wanting Beaumont to feel as if this arrangement was entirely one sided. Just because they payed Beau, Benedict did not find reason to not care about him. To ensure that he was looked after and that he too had what he needed.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ Glancing out the window upon Beau's remarks about the weather, Benedict's smile grew even more at this excellent news. "Fortunately, it would seem that any plans I had are canceled today." He did not mind elaborating, finding he could trust the man before him. "We were meant to attend a luncheon in the park. It is most likely be postponed." If not canceled, and that suited Benedict perfectly fine. For he knew his mother well enough and her reasons for wishing him in attendance. "Perhaps I will remain in for the afternoon." Practice his sketching where the weather is dismal outside. "Tell me Bell, what is it you enjoy doing when not carrying out your duties?" Benedict asked, taking a sip of his tea, in attempt to get to know him better.
