Being with her, falling in love with her . . . and learning of her husband's death. It had indeed been a conflicting feeling. But his love for her gave way to all else. A promise, a vow on his life that he would take of her. Protect her. And love her in the way that she deserved to be loved. The way that her late husband had not. A prompt marriage followed and Benedict had even bought a new home for them. Staying in his family's residence was out of the question. My Cottage would serve as a wonderful getaway home. And his bachelor lodgings were inadequate. Kitty deserved nothing but the very best and so, the best would be what he provided.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ He was excited to show her the home as they stepped inside, his hand intertwined with hers. It would seem that a permanent smile was upon his lips, ever since fate finally allowed Kitty and him to be together. Without any words, he gently pulled her closer to him, securely wrapping his arms around her smaller frame and leaned in until their lips touched. How the nature of their kisses had changed.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ Once filled with fervent urgency, all too aware that their time was limited. And now, while the passion remained that urgency was gone . . . because they had the rest of their lives together. Letting the soft embrace linger, he slowly eased out of it, belatedly opening his eyes which held a soft gaze within them. Upon her. "What do you think?" He asked quietly. He was of course referring to the house but he could not take his eyes off of the beautiful woman before him.

When she'd first fallen in love with Benedict Bridgerton, she hadn't imagined they'd ever be able to make it work. She'd been married to a man who could barely stand her, her only happiness found in her time away from him – which, admittedly, she often was. Still, she'd been lonely until Benedict had come into her life, and showed her what love could look like. Having been married to General Langham for so long, she hadn't believed love was something she could ever achieve. How wrong she'd been.Kitty Bridgerton seemed to have more of a ring to it than Kitty Langham ever had...or perhaps it simply felt right, after everything. Their marriage had come as a relief to her, it was exactly what she needed – someone she loved, and who loved her in return, no longer having to hide from the world. Instead, they'd be able to have a home full of love, for the first time in her life – and definitely for the first time in her childrens' lives. Slowly, she kissed him back, her hand still gripping onto his tightly. How wonderful it was to be able to kiss him without worrying that someone might catch them; how wonderful to know he'd be her husband and the father of her children for the rest of their lives. It might have been awful to have been relieved that her late husband was gone...but it was the only thing that had allowed them this bliss. "It's perfect," Kitty assured, grinning up at him. "You are perfect. I didn't know I could be this happy." [attr="class","mizocredit"] [newclass=.mizocredit a]font:bold 6pt calibri;letter-spacing:1px;color:#b5d1f1;[/newclass]
