I'm not bound by As part of the family that was hosting this grand, week long event, Benedict knew there was only so much he could remain elusive. Between hiding from mothers of eligible women -- and his very own mother -- Benedict knew he had to maintain a balance between mingling and being seen, and subtly hiding. Being the second son worked in his favour in this regard. However, the present activity at hand was not one that Benedict minded as much as well, say a ball. Today, there was a hunting competition among the men and while Benedict would not be directly participating, he was to ride out and ensure that the others were well equipped and that all ran smoothly.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ He was in the process of mounting his horse, patting the animal's neck before gently squeezing his heels into the animals side and flicking the reigns. The horse set off, heading out towards what would become more wooded . . . or at least, that was the original plan. But the animal suddenly whinnied, his legs somehow tangling as it fell over to the side, causing Benedict to fall with it. The Bridgerton quickly rolled out of the way so that it would not crush him but once he saw the horse on its side, concern immediately took over. He scrambled to the animal, kneeling next to it as he could see it was in pain.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ Something to do with it's leg perhaps. He felt his heart ache at seeing his horse in pain, as he gently stroked the animal's neck. Glancing around, he tried to see if there was anyone who could help but as most were out hunting, and the help was too far at the moment, Benedict felt at a loss. One man however was not too far in the distance and while Benedict did not know him -- only recognizing his face as one of their guests -- he figured that perhaps if nothing else, he could assist him in getting some help. For the second son did not wish to leave the animal alone. "Excuse me, Sir!" He called to him.

Stefan was talking with other guests when he suddenly saw the Prince wave him over to where the Prince was kneeling along side of an injured horse. Stefan’s heart was saddened at the sight of the injured animal. But his main concern was if the Prince was alright. Stefan knew the important role that horses played in their society, especially for royals and nobles.
Stefan ran over to the Prince and the horse. “Are you injured, my Lord?” Stefan helped the Prince to his feet so that he could examine the animal properly. “My Lord, I am Earl Stefan of Tyrol, Austria. I’m a veterinarian and will gladly help your animal. I saw what happened.”
Stefan never traveled too far without his medical bag with him. “My medical bag is on my carriage. My girl friend will fetch it for me; I don’t want to leave the animal.” Stefan didn’t believe that the horse was seriously injured, but he didn’t want to tell the Prince that and later be proven wrong. Stefan knew that the Prince preferred to stay with the animal, and he understood that. Lena handed Stefan his medical bag as Stefan was examining the horse for a bone.”My Lord, I gave your horse something for pain. Stefan gave the horse a shot for pain. “My Lord, I gave your horse something for pain..He should also relax some so I can examine him closer.” The swelling was not too bad and that was an encouraging sign. Stefan removed most of the horse’s saddle and tac.
Though Stefan’s examination of the horse, Stefan concluded that the horse had strained his left lower leg. The first order of business would be to get the horse up on his legs. “My Lord, I will need a few men to build a crude box started to build it big enough to only fit the horse. That will help to keep him standing.” As the men started to build the cubicle, Stefan Wet his veterinary leg wrap with cold water and put it on the horses leg with a strap around it’s rump to hold it on.
“My Lord, the cold water will help the swelling and the wrap will help with the sprain.” By that time the men were finished with the cubicle that Stefan asked for. Stefan placed it right in front of the horse. Other men helped Stefan get the horse standing and to walk carefully into the cubicle. “Now the horse will have to be stationary.”
The horse was clearly in less pain then he was earlier. He was breathing easier. “My Lord, a large cart can take the horse to the royal stable. I’ll stay with it the rest of the night.”

I'm not bound by As the man hurried over, he immediately asked if Benedict was ok and the second son was appreciative for his concern. "I am alright," he reassured him, taking his help as he rose to his feet. "It is my horse . . . " But apparently, as unlucky as it was with what happened, came the extreme opposite for of all people that Benedict could have seen and called for, he just so happened to be in the company of a veterinarian. It immediately provided the Bridgerton son with relief as this was the most ideal situation. Who better to tend to his animal friend than a doctor specifically for animals.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ "It is a pleasure to meet you," he greeted in return. "And extremely good fortune, indeed," he added on, speaking aloud his thoughts. Benedict returned to his previous position, kneeling next to the horse and gently stroking its neck as Stefan examined him. He held such care for the animal -- an important quality in a man of his profession -- but still. Seeing it continued to provide Benedict with a sense of comfort. To know that his horse was in good hands. For one passionate about their field of work, made all the difference in their performance of it. He watched as Stefan gave the animal something for the pain, seeing the almost immediate effect it had on the horse as it started to relax a little more.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ Benedict spoke words of assurance towards the animal, as Stefan continued to explain that it was a sprain, and they would need to build a box for him. The second son nodded in understanding, watching as Stefan wrapped the leg, the men having finished building the box and then Benedict assisted the others in gently moving the animal in it, and in a secure position. Benedict turned his attention to the Earl, a grateful smile upon the younger male's lips. "Thank you," he told him with the utmost sincerity. "I will ensure you are compensated for your work." He would of course pay him.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ "Though no amount will be enough for having helped him," Benedict said with a continued smile, motioning towards the horse. "Please do not feel as if you must remain with him for the night. I will have him well watched." Besides, it would give Benedict a reason to step out from the various events that were taking place. "You have truly done more than enough," Benedict continued to say, extending his hand for the man to take so that he may shake it with the gratitude and appreciation keenly felt within him.

Stefan was glad that he could aid the horse. Most of Stefan’s animal patients were horses. Horses were becoming Stefan’s specialty. Stefan was glad that his new Noble friend felt better about his animal, and that he could help the horse. Horses were rapidly becoming Stefan's main patients. That made sense since the horse was the main mode of transportation as well as for work. "Thank you, sir. I really enjoy my profession. I am glad that I was here to help.” Stefan couldn’t bear to see an animal suffering for any reason.
Stefan could see that the two nobles could become vast friends. It appeared that he shared a lot of things in common with the Viscount. I’m glad that I could help and that your stead will be fine. You don’t have to compensate me for something that I truly cherish doing, but thank you for the offer.” Stefan just wanted to be friends with the Viscount.
“Thank you, sir. Your mount will be fine. I am glad that someone will be with him through the night close monitoring is best for a few days. The main thing is to keep the wraps that I put his legs wet with cold water. That will reduce swelling and aid in relieving any pain that the stead may have. If his pain gets really bad, please have someone call on me and I will come at once. In a few days, I think that we can start him on simple exercises on a few days. I will return for that.”
“Thank you, I’m glad that I was here to help. It is truly my life’s work.” Stefan reached for the Viscount’s hand and shook it in friendship.

I'm not bound by Benedict listened attentively as Stefan gave instructions on how to tend to the horse in the coming days. It was indeed very fortunate, that the man would remain here for the duration of the events hosted by his family, should there be any complications with the horse's healing. But still. The second son did not find it fair not to compensate the Count for his work . . . nor would he argue with him. So he simply made a mental note to find way to compensate him in the time to come. "I do owe you," he stated, wanting this to be said and heard so not to take the man's kind actions for granted.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ "Thank you again, for your instruction. I will ensure to inform the stable workers of this, in the times that I am unable to be in my animal's company." Considering he still had to play host. "It also brings my mind to ease, to know that you are present in the coming days should your expertise be further required." Another assurance that allowed Benedict's mind to rest when it came to the well being of his animal friend. "Were you planning on joining the hunting party?" He asked, wondering what the man's plans were for the next little while. "If not, then perhaps you would like to join me for a drink?" It was not what Benedict had initially intended for the day's event to be but considering how circumstances had changed, it seemed like a natural and rather welcome path.
