| -------------------------------------------- It had been months since he had been at a sea and once he arrived on land, word reached his ears that he'd been proclaimed dead. It infuriated him. He'd been given the document and article in the newspaper that alleged him so from his brigadier and he crushed the paper in one hand, tossing it in the nearest rubbish bin before returning home to his wife and children.
Were people truly that foolish? How could they even print something like that without ensuring that man was alive? Sure, their ship had been attacked by pirates and it sunk, but he managed to survive alongside a few other officers and Groves, making it an island in the Caribbean that was owned by the British Isles. Where was his wife? What did she think? She could not have possibly believed a word, given that there was no evidence whatsoever.
He returned home, the footmen instantly freezing up the moment they laid their eyes on their master. Frowning slightly at their demeanour, he motioned for them to open the door and they did just that without a moment's thought. "Kitty!" Called out Alexander as he walked up the steps, removing his naval hat from his head. "Kitty, I am home." He announced loudly.
He heard sounds coming from the bedroom, so she must have been there. Opening the door, he froze just as his servants had done when they'd seen him. |

| -------------------------------------------- He was present for the sake of siring an heir.
He had homes across London, one being in Grosvenor Square where he'd just left one of his courtesans. It was not uncommon for a man of his stature to have one, or two and who was his wife to judge him for doing so? The wide doors had opened for him upon entering the dining room, donning his signature powdered wig and his military attire, a part of his shirt visibly ripped as he had no intention of hiding it from her.
Waiting for one of the servants to remove a chair from his at the head of the table, he perched down, peering at his wife as she spoke her words. Perhaps he resented her for the fact of her inability to give him a son. That was it, wasn't it? She'd not done her duty as a wife and so, he was irate. "If you would like," He responded nonchalantly, requesting a glass of bourbon from a servant nearby. "How have your evenings been since my last stationing at sea?" Slightly curious about his wife's gambling habits. |

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name:. Alexander Langham
.:Nick Name:. Alex
.:Rank:. Nobility
.:Age:. 35
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Tall and well-built after serving so many years in the British Royal Navy for several years before taking on the role of General. He usually dons a powdered wig, signifying both his rank in the military as well as in society -- despite many preferring to remove it from their heads after the eighteenth century. He is among the few that prefer tradition to modernisation. Alexander normally wears his military attire, pins on his jacket illustrating his years in the service.
.:Height:. 6"3
.:Portrayed by:. Jack Davenport
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Cantankerous and stoic most times, caring little for those who try to stand in his way. Incredibly ambitious as well, focusing most of his time on his military career rather than his familial and other connections. He is a man of tradition and always has been this way, given the household he was raised in.
.:Skills:. He is very skilled when it comes to swordsmanship. Having practised the art at such a tender age of fourteen due to his father's requests, he became incredibly professional at it, even going as far as creating a room in both his estates to fit his hobby. Alexander is also well-spoken and he uses this particular attribute to win the minds of many in their society.
.:Weaknesses:. His main weakness is his pride. Through attaining such rank and power, he believes that he is above the law, even though he is not. Alexander also tends to be jealous, specifically towards both his courtesans and his wife, which also adds to his temper issues. Anything can set him off.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Grosvenor Square, London
.:Family:.
James Langham - Father Mary Langham - Mother Caroline Langham - Sister Emma Langham - Sister Katherine Langham - Wife
.:Occupation:.
General in the Royal Navy
.:History:.
Born to a very wealthy noble family in central London, Alexander Langham was the firstborn son and so, by birthright, was offered the world by both his parents as long as he preferred duty rather than shaming his name like few men did when they were of such high ranking. His two twin sisters came shortly afterwards and he felt it was his responsibility to look after them, although he had joined the military to fight against the Napoleonic Army at merely eighteen.
The feverish battles between the French and British armies suggested that he pass away before he could even return home to London but fate proved to be merciful upon the eldest. Though there was war still happening, he was granted leave after he had eventually worked his way up the ranks in the Royal Navy, though this was also granted to him through his upbringing and the connections that his father had, particularly with one General Harry Barnet.
His daughter only sixteen years old had been promised to him when had passed away suddenly. General Langham did not mind it, as he had met Kitty on several occasions and found her both attractive and reserved enough to fit his tastes, yet it was hardly a marriage full of love or hope. No, it was merely a business arrangement between the two families -- a sign of respect by the Barnets when he'd received both the baton and title of General after her father's death.
It was public duty, despite his lack of interest in either his daughters or his wife. If she had given him a son, perhaps it'd been different.
