♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: hearbreak! Charlotte had barley heard the door open for if she had, perhaps she would have snapped at the person to leave. For she wished to be left alone. However awareness of another presence in the room was made known when she heard the soft voice of her dear granddaughter. She did not wish for Charlotte to see her this way and yet . . . she felt far too weak to object. Weak. Not at all a fitting quality for a queen and Charlotte would certainly not describe herself as such. But today, she felt it. For she felt her heart truly break. The country may not mourn her husband until he was dead, but her mourning for his passing would commence tonight. The blemish upon her skin evident of just how gone he was. Just how far from her George he had become.
Charlotte said nothing in response to the princess's inquiry. Numbed with the pain and silenced from the anguish. She was rattled. She was devastated. What could possibly be said to defend the king in his descent into madness? The others would surely find out about this and the royal family would become an even deeper source of gossip than they already were. In ways that Charlotte could not bare the thought of. She felt a tear slip from her eyes, valuing her family above all else which was perhaps why she would never reject the touch nor company of the princess of Wales. "You should go child," she said in a soft voice, barley above a whisper, her tone far more subdued as it lacked the command and confidence it was usually filled with. But what it was not, was dismissive. She knew it would perhaps be best for her granddaughter to leave but at the same time . . . the Queen truly did not wish to be left alone. Not from family.

♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: HOPE THIS IS OKAY! The queen was currently reading the latest copy of London Weekly. Truth be told, this was often her first choice when it came to being current on the events of the city. It was after all, far less problematic than Lady Whistledown's column. Nothing treasonous. Nothing anonymous. The transparency was far more acceptable to her royal majesty and so, she would continue to support this paper. Perhaps it was time to publicize it, so to shift focus on to far more deserving newspapers compared to the overly brazen words of Whistledown. That, and she was quite enjoying the various articles within it. Particularly the advice column.
The Queen, unbeknownst to anyone even submitted a letter to the advice column. She remained anonymous in her entry but it was not anything shameful to admit. In fact, it went nicely along with her desire to endorse the paper. And the best way of doing this . . . was to summon it's owner and the woman whom she had submitted a letter to. "Brimsley! Fetch me my stationary," she commanded without raising her gaze from the paper. When it was quickly brought to her the queen began to write. Naming it to Mirela Camden, addressing it to the publishing house. It invited both Tobias Knightly and the girl over for tea the next day where she would give them her news. Though, she left it fairly ambiguous in the letter, the invitation was there and the words amicable enough without a tone of over warmth. Once she completed it and it was closed with the royal seal, she sent it with the messenger to be delivered promptly this evening.

♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: hearbreak! Lottie rushed down hall with quickened steps. A trail of maids were behind her but she did not want to see them. A rarity indeed, to dismiss all of them. But circumstances called for it. The queen, wished to be left alone and the sooner she arrived at her chambers, the better. Her beloved husband's heath was deteriorating; he was losing his mind. Himself. But Charlotte would never give up on him. She had visited him as often as she could, caring for him where she could. Not because he was her king; but because he was her heart. So seeing him break . . . caused her heart to break. Today, when she visited him, it was as if something had suddenly switched inside of him. He began to grow violent; aggressive. Yelling at her and throwing things at her. A cup was among them and whether he intended to or not, the heavy piece struck her face. It caused the Queen to stagger to the side, the king restrained and still yelling angrily.
This, was not her husband. This was not her George.
She could not bare it any longer. Once she reached her room, she slammed the door shut, telling the others outside of it who were hastily knocking on the door to go away. She made her way to her vanity, sitting on the chair in front of it. Her gaze raised to her reflection, taking notice of the discoloration around her eye; it would swell to become a rather unflattering bruise. But it was not the physical mark or blemish created on her skin. It was what had caused it. Her husband. No. No! That was not her husband. Her George would never hurt her. Her George would never yell at her. Her George . . . was gone.
Charlotte lifted a small hand mirror, inspecting the injury closely as her mind processed what had just occurred. Her husband was going mad . . . her husband, was truly gone. The pain of this acknowledgement -- something that she had been fighting so hard to continue to deny -- caused her to slam the mirror onto her desk, letting the glass shatter. Pieces of it reflective of how her heart felt. She could no longer bare it. Tears began to stream down her cheeks, her shoulders trembling from the onslaught of devastation as she came to terms with her. Her George, was truly gone.

♚ queen charlotte's headcanons ♚ a collection of various headcanons THESE WILL BE UPDATED PERIODICALLY!
- the nickname Lottie was affectionately given to her by her husband, George III in the early days of their marriage. It became a nickname that those she is close to -- mainly close family members -- uses.
- Charlotte has over 35 Pomeranians as she is extremely fond of this breed and cares for each and every one of them. They are well trained and she tends to them every day.
- During one of the times Charlotte was visiting the King when his mental state was declining, he had a violent outburst and in the midst of doing so, threw something that struck the Queen. It left a physical mark. That was the last time Charlotte visited him for it was the moment that she knew her husband was gone, aware that he would never intentionally hurt her. She now only goes to him when informed he is lucid, or sometimes when he is asleep.

♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: NONE! The Queen was hardly paying attention to further mention of Ferdinand. Her mind occupied with preparing a letter of invitation to the Prince, and solidifying this fine suggestion. Oh it would be the grandest wedding! One that everyone would speak of and would be an extravagant affair. Even Whistledown would not find a crumb to criticize for it would truly be Flawless. The Queen was distracted from her silent preparations when her granddaughter attempted to show her a picture. The smile also fell from the Queen's lips as she recognized that the princess had pulled the small portrait from her purse."Why do you have that?" She questioned, a hint of accusation in her voice. She barley glanced at the picture, her expression shifted from happily planning out their grand wedding . . . to disapproval of why the young woman carried a picture of the other male.
Slightly leaning towards her granddaughter she continued. "Are you in frequent correspondence with him?" She questioned. The last thing she needed was for Brimsley to hear. He was a terrible gossip and she would not have rumours of her son's daughter circulate throughout the ton. "What have you not told me, child," she continued, before resuming her previous, upright position, barley waiting for a response from Charlotte. "Friedrich was the first name that you spoke. And thus, first that came to your mind." For that, surely meant something. Which was how the Queen was taking it. So she cared not for Ferdinand's dark locks nor the beauty of Spain. Friedrich, was a better choice. "He will therefore, be the first choice," she concluded.

♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: NONE! The Queen was far more satisfied with the direction the conversation took, for her granddaughter now suggested some names. And the first one -- Friedrich -- caused her Majesty's lips to curve upwards in a smile. She was incredibly fond of her nephew, and did not approve of the way he had been treated. Strung along only to be cast aside. She despised the embarrassment that came with it, and having to find out about the girl's sudden change in choice through Whistledown's column of all things. While she would not punish either family of their choice, it still left a rather bitter taste for her nephew, Prince of Prussia deserved far better.
"Prince Friedrich is a fine choice," she said with adamant approval. Despite the man practically being charlotte's uncle . . . they were not far in age. Charlotte was in fact, so approving of this match, that she did not even consider Ferdinand when suggested, fixed more on this potential union. "He was here not long ago," she continued. "I shall invite him again. So that the two of you may get better acquainted." Under the now suggestion of potential marriage. She had after all, not heard of the man yet finding a wife. And after the fiasco with the Bridgerton girl, he deserved nothing less than a beautiful princess. And Charlotte deserved nothing less than an honorable prince.

♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: NONE! Her granddaughter spoke of a stable boy and while the Queen knew she was making a comment in jest, the thought of it was still rather horrific. "Dear god, child!" She stated in protest. "You need to spend less time thinking of names for stable boys, and more time searching for a prospective husband." While she knew that her father would of course aid in that, Charlotte also wished to be involved in the process. She would not pass her granddaughter off to an unworthy man. And finding a worthy man was a challenge in itself.
"Nonsense," she said dismissively at the idea of her being too young to think of marriage. "You are a woman now." Having turned sixteen recently brought with it, proper maturity. "It is best you start thinking of your future and starting a family of your own." Children. A true blessing in this life and one that Charlotte forever wished she had been able to bring more of into this world. She did not want anyone else in her family to experience that sense of loss.

♚ your queen commands it ♚ NOTES: FIRST POST AS QUEEN CHARLOTTE! The queen was hosting a luncheon and fortunately, the weather was most agreeable. It would have been rather unacceptable should rain spoil her plans, despite it not being within the control of even the Queen herself. She was currently sitting upon her elaborately decorative chair, watching the guests pile in as each made their way in front of her, curtseying or bowing in respect to which Charlotte offered a nod of acknowledgement. Only to those who did it properly after all. There were a few fumbling fools to which she waved her hand dismissively. The standards were certainly dropping among some families within London. And she had no time for those who could not present themselves with dignity. Nerves were no excuse.
Sitting beside her was her lovely granddaughter. Charlotte quite enjoyed having her remain within her home, relatives far few and in between. This also provided an opportunity for those who had not yet set eyes upon her, to do so now. But she -- as often was the case -- had ulterior motives when it came to Charlotte being here. And that was to find her a husband. Of course it would not be anyone within the ton, but there was no harm in commencing the conversation about it. And when there was a gap between people arriving, the Queen broached the subject.
"I was about your age when I was married," she began to say. A year older perhaps, but the point still stood. She turned head a little, so not to strain her neck from any awkward angle, but enough so that she could set her eyes upon her granddaughter. "Have you considered anyone?" She wondered if back home, there were any prospective husbands, and her words straightforward and to the point . . . expecting Charlotte to be truthful in the matter. The two after all had what the Queen considered to be a wonderful relationship. And she wanted only the best for her dear Little Lottie.

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name:. Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .:Nick Name:. Charlotte, Lottie, Snuffy Charlotte .:Rank:. Royalty .:Age:. It is impolite to inquire as to the age of your Queen.
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Queen Charlotte is a woman of great elegance and poise. The colour of her skin is reflective of her African heritage on her mother's side, as are her facial features. Her true hair is often -- if not always -- concealed by the wearing of her diverse collection of wigs. Whether they are lilac and tall, brown and wide, or white with jewels weaved within them. Her opulent gowns are also reflective of her extravagant style as they are bold colours with expensive jewelry to match. She enjoys setting trends in fashion and carries herself with the expected regality of a true Queen. .:Height:. 5"7' .:Portrayed by:. Golda Rosheuvel
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Queen Charlotte is a woman with a strong and intimidating presence. She is unafraid to express her true thoughts and unapologetic in the bluntness of them. Whether this is revealed by a dismissive waving of the hand, or an eye roll of annoyance. The Queen makes no secret of her displeasure over a situation, or when it pertains to an individual person. She is judgmental and knows that her opinion is what truly matters. She has little tolerance for simple minded individuals and has no qualms with making this known to the other. Her tendency in doing so causing the other to feel small, and perhaps even insignificant as well as foolish. Her words also have a bit of sass to them, to match her facial expressions when displeased or unimpressed. Queen Charlotte is a woman of impatience as she expects any command or inquiry to be met with prompt response, be it verbally or physically. She never believes she is wrong and loathes to be proven as such. She grows bored easily and has a constant need to be entertained. She also has incredibly high standards and when she grants favor to another, does not expect it to be taken lightly.
Contrary to what it may seem from above, the Queen does indeed have a kind nature to her. She offers a smile when earned, and conversation where deserved. Knowing her influence over the ton, particularly during social season, she involves herself in the goings on, and intervenes where she deems fit. She is arguably obsessed with Whistledown's articles, despising the challenge that the author poses to the Queen's judgements and is eager -- if not desperate -- to unveil her true identity so that she may punish her accordingly for her insolence. Charlotte has a strong interest and love for the arts (performing, drawing/painting, literature, etc), and some in botany. While she never had a strong interest in politics, her husband would occasionally ask for her counsel in private moments and she would offer her opinions and thoughts where she felt able to contribute. Charlotte also has an incredibly strong affection for Pomeranians, having ownership of several within her home. She even walks them by herself at times, and is seldom seen upon her throne without one in hand.
Despite what is seen on the surface however, deep down, Charlotte possesses a wound soul. She is a heartbroken woman and incredibly lonely due to the tragedies that had afflicted her family, particularly the death of her daughter and the mental demise of her beloved husband. The latter affected her for he is not only her king, but also her dear love and best friend; thus, she feels the emptiness of his companionship. The need for her to be constantly entertained is a result of these things, for she does not wish for her mind and time to remain unoccupied as it causes her to dwell on the pain of her family's losses. Family is incredibly dear to her and while she may not outwardly admit it, she longs to have them nearby as much as possible and as often as can be. The loss of Amelia which further spiraled her husband's condition, also caused Charlotte to turn to snuff for relief, which has now developed into an addiction.
Overall, Charlotte is a strong, resilient woman. She maintains the front of being a fitting queen, Regal in all mannerisms and dealings. Confident is her decisions and sure in her commands. Charlotte is also a great believer in love, finding that she does indeed have that more romantic side to her even if it remains unexpressed. She has a strong love for her husband and family and so truly does believe in the power it can hold and the influence it can have over others. There is also a strong maternal side to her, that longs to care for others and it is perhaps in part why she possesses so many Pomeranians within her care. This part of her truly comes out when in the company of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. .:Skills:. strong and confident, intimidating presence, intelligent and influential, resilient and maintains a powerful front, Pom aficionado .:Weaknesses:. addicted to snuff, grows bored easily and constantly needs to be entertained, deeply lonely and pained, judgmental and impatient.

.:Occupation:. Queen of Great Britain and Ireland .:History:. Charlotte was born on May 19th, in a small territory in the Holy Roman Empire. She received a very mediocre education, as her upbringing was similar to that of a daughter of an English country gentleman. She studied some botany, natural history, and language however her education was heavily focused on household management and religion. Charlotte always possessed a rather strong personality; quick witted, sharp tongued, and unafraid to speak her mind. These traits however were forced to be reined in by her ladies for it was unbecoming and not entirely suitable for a princess to possess such qualities. Furthermore, it was expected that she would marry into a Royal family and thus, held expectations of being a proper and compliant wife.
At the age of 17, Charlotte would meet George III and this encounter would change her life forever. There was initial interest in her by him even before making her acquaintance, due to her lack of interest in politics and thus, posing as no threat to the king. When they did meet however, Charlotte did not expect what happened. She expected formality, mundane conversation, and to have to hold her tongue to play into this notion of being submissive and polite. Instead, the two of them found conversation far easier than any they had before, and an ease in one another's company. They stayed up the entire night just talking, an almost instant comfort felt in each other's presence and an affection that quickly developed. By the time the next day came, they were to be wed. Charlotte saw in the man not just a king or husband, but a best friend. Their relationship only grew stronger since then as the two were truly in love with one another. There was trust which quickly developed between the two as well, and it allowed George to confide in her and even seek her counsel at times, proving her to be a strong confidant. Charlotte also, not being an English native speaker, strove to enhance her language skills and in the process, assimilated to the English culture with touches to honor her own heritage; her accent was one of the many things that conformed to her current country of residence. As time went on, the couple were eventually blessed with children however as happy as the years of their marriage were . . . came the drastic alternative of pain and suffering. George began to have bouts of mental illness, the first being concealed from Charlotte. As it was only temporary, she did not find out until his second, and as time drew on, they became more frequent and long lasting. Charlotte began to see less of her beloved husband and more of a stranger, though she never gave up on him, nor her belief in him. It was not until the death of their daughter, Amelia, that things took an even worse turn. The King's madness seemed long lasting, and occasions of being lucid were far and in between. Charlotte, forced to cope with not only the death of her daughter but the slow loss of her husband, turned to snuff as a coping mechanism.
Unable to bare seeing him in such a state, Charlotte does not visit the king frequently, only seeking his company when receiving word that he is lucid or at times, when he is sleeping. Her seeming lack of compassion to his condition is born out of the pain in witnessing his violent outbursts towards her and the lack of recognition of her in his gaze. She seeks to keep herself occupied, enjoying the social season as it provides ample distraction. She also greatly enjoys visits from her relatives so that she may spend time with family and in doing so, numb the inner pain of the tragedies that has struck her own. She currently remains to be the face of the Royal couple, sure and confident in her reign and willing to socialize among their subjects so that they know that their Queen is alive, well, and standing strong.
