t h e t w i n k l e o f t h e c a n d l e s IT'S AS IF WE SIT AMONG THE STARS Benedict felt exceptionally well this evening. Ever since we had drank that fowl tasking elixer, his mind, body and soul were at ease. Relaxed, in a way that he had not been for quite some time. All the troubles of his mind seemed to be set to rest. His abilities as an artist -- or lack there of -- as well as his feelings for the newest staff addition to the Bridgerton household. Instead of feeling the crippling insecurities as well as torment, he felt . . . calm. Unusually so yet it was not an emotion or state that he was willing to fight. He quite enjoyed it. Embraced it. All around him seemed brighter, shinier . . . radiant -- er.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ Speaking of radiance . . . as he made his way down the hall, crossing in the opposite direction was none other than the object of both his torment and desire. Yet seeing her, he felt no torment. Only the wonderful emotions she inspired within him. He abruptly paused before they were to cross paths, waking by each other, and held his hand out in front of him while squeezing his eyes tightly shut. "Radiance!" He blurted out, more loudly than he realized. "I have become blinded by the radiance that exudes from every fiber of your being." Dramatic? Perhaps. Was Benedict aware of such histrionics? Not in the slightest.

Sophie was walking down the hall with a little bit of mending in her hands that she was returning to the owner, when she she looked up and saw him. Benedict. Her breathing deepened at just the sight of him, and she tried to mentally brace herself for the words that he would give her today. It was hard to turn him away. It was ahrd to do this for him. She had to protect him from---from--What did he say?
Sophie slowed her steps and came to a soft stop as she stared up at his face with confusion, and curiosity. His words, as well as his volume, were different. His mannerisms were off. And yet she did not feel as if she knew him well enough to voice it right away. Perhaps this was a mood of his? Yet it did not feel that way.
"Good day?" She greeted, looking past him, and then behind her to assure herself they were alone. Glacing back to him, Sophie tightened her grip on the sewing in order to not reach out to him.

t h e t w i n k l e o f t h e c a n d l e s IT'S AS IF WE SIT AMONG THE STARS Benedict did not seem to pick up on the cues -- as perhaps he normally did, not that that stopped him from pursuing her -- but this time was different. This time he felt, liberated. More at ease and relaxed than ever before and he simply basked in it.
◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ ◈ "It is indeed a good day," he said looking at her, smiling at her . . . grinning broadly. "A wonderful, extraordinary day!" He exclaimed, as if proclaiming it to the heavens above. And heaven's angel, was right here in front of him. "Is it a good day for you, sweet Sophie?" He asked. "For mine has become even better being in your luminating presence!" Which, was true. It was always true just today, he felt as if the need to say it . . . repeatedly.

It was a good day he admitted, and it was then Sophie knew what was different. He was . . . happy. He looked so happy. It was in the way he grinned down at her, and in the way he spoke. It was unlike him to be so open and on display. The way he was looking at her made her belly tighten, and her breathing slow. He could do that just by looking at her.
"sweet Sophie?" The use of her name, made her wish this moment was different. That she was not whom she was, and he was anyone but whom he was. That she could lean in and just be with him. "For mine has become even better being in your luminating presence!" Blinking up at him, she slowly smiled. Not a bright one, but a hesitant 'I am unable to stop myself from smiling around you and I know I need to hide it' smile.
"Someone will hear you." She reminded him, knowing this was not a place for him to call her sweet, and speak such words to her. No matter how nice they were to hear. "This is your mother's home." A reminder they might both need since she enjoyed the words he spoke as well.
