Clara nodded along as Mr. Slade explained a little more. She had expected she and Lina would not be out unsupervised. While she was still not certain the details of Mr. Slade's businesses, she was clever enough to know that he was taking precautions to assure that his business did not come to harm his daughter. That was, of course, something she could respect. And admire in a way. A father who put his daughter first in everything. It was one reason, Clara assumed, that Lina was so well adjusted to her life.
His one comment made her smile in amusement, "Which do you think would toss a bigger tantrum? The goat or the girl?" She asked, since he seemed to hint that the goat would be displeased as well. And It just might! Lina and Gilly had grown quite close. "Would like to tell Lina? She will be over joyed for this news. Though I fear the carriage ride with Sir Gilly."

After a extended silent moment of only looking at him with an knowingly amused expression, Clara closed her eyes to shake her head once, before opening them and finishing fixing her tea. It was the only sign of her feelings toward the matter, which where amused and knowing. Amused because Mr. Slade was nothing if not controlled in all areas of his life--and he now had a goat for a pet. And knowing, because the goat would make things very interesting around here, and Clara for one, was excited to see it.
Even if she was a little apprehensive about taking care of a goat.
"It is not one's wages that raise concern." She told him, her lips tilted into a knowing smile as she prepared to make a point and tease her employer. "It is the rugs, and the drapery, and countless of other things that a young goat will enjoy to nibble on." there was the point, so here came to tease, "And Mr. Slade, you do enjoy a certain amount of order in your household. I will enjoy seeing the goat put that to test."

✮ That is hard, but here is the female edition: Guinevere (BBC Merlin), Magda (X-Men), Juliana Grayson/Anita Nolan (OC many role plays)
ღ Assuming you mean muses here (and you mean romance and not friendship)! We have: Simon/Daphne, Anthony/Kate, Ezra/Emmeline, Slade/Clara, Vaughn/Keya
❤ Oh! Do I ever! Crack!Ships: Vaughn/Clara, Anthony/Clara (though only because they were in a move together and it was cute!), and I want like a million more, but they are still popping up!
♕ Favorite characters in books or film are: (female edition) Persephone (Greek mythology), Guinevere (BBC Merlin) ((A part of this is because I played her so long and she will forever be apart of me), Sabrina Lind (Book), Annabelle Peyton (Book).
◈ Here is one: Clara is like a regency Mary Poppins!
↓ I have! I don't like to dwell on the past, but there have been people who take have disliked me or my writing style and been vocal about it! It's one reason I enjoy a drama-free role play so much!
♣ (1) I like dogs more than cats (2) I like the show better than the Bridgerton books, though the details in the books are AMAZING (3) I love to travel to different place, and wish there was more people willing to travel with me (4) For fun I read entomology books (5) Duchess is a nick name from 10+ years ago, referring to Duchess of Darkness (or Duchessofdark) AKA the mistress of all evil--The (CARTOON) Maleficent! It is just ironic that it sounds fitting here.

They would be spending the evening with Ciaran's family? Clara's brows shifted in slight confusion, but she assumed that more information or an reason would come. She knew that Craran was trusted by him, so it was not the company that was curious, but the manner in which it was decided that they would go.
Mr. Slade continued by then speaking of her have no engagements. She was not to accompany Liva? This only made everything more curious. It was his finally words that made her understand. He wished her to accompany him to a ball? Clara smile faded slowly as surprise touched her face, lingering for a few seconds before a brighter smile spread slowly over her cheeks and into her eyes.
Standing slowly, and still straight, Clara turned to face him, walking a few steps closer. "You wish for me to accompany you to the ball?" She asked, knowing that she had only just repeated his words, and he might not confirm. "I would be delighted too attend with you!" Her voice was softer and her pitch rode softly in clear evidence of her surprise and delight! Her book still in both hands, a slim finger holding her place between pages forgotten as she could only stare at him. She had thought he would be using them to hunt for a wife, but he was asking her.
She knew better then to think too much into it, without his intentions known. Yet before she could ask, she must accept.

Clara was raised to believe that there was some things ladies never--and she meant never--did. Today she was doing them all! Clara ran down the hall of the country house, and yelled for 'Mr Slade!', and ladies did not. She reached his office door, assumingly before he could, and burst in without knocking. And ladies did not. However, with the situation at hand, knocking wasn't her priority.
Stopping when she reaching, Clara took a quick deep breath. "She's gone!" She explained, her tone holding a sharp panic, fear, and a need for someone to do something. "She asked to go pick a few flowers from the garden, as we were making a basket for a gift, and I did not go with her. When she was gone for too long, I went looking . . . I cannot find her!"
Lina had gone to the garden alone before, despite her age. There were men there watching her! It was just outside the door to the kitchens and Clara had thought nothing of it! Now she feared her neglect had caused something to happen to the young girl.

Clara was reading a book, and Gilly had come to curl at her feet. Sometimes she wondered if the goat thought himself a dog, but as she had yet to have any experiences with dogs either, Clara could only assume as much. At least he was seeming to nap himself. "You better rest, when she awakens she will expect you to play." She told the goat, knowing he could not understand her.
Hearing someone enter, and call her name, Clara turned her face to Slade and smiled. She always smiled when he walked in the room. It had been something she started doing without thinking, a few years ago, as she began to know him better. It was only in the recent weeks and months that she began to understand why, and to know that it was something that would one day have to cease. When he married.
He asked her about her plans, and Clara took a short moment to think--just in case--before speaking. "No, I think we did not have appointments for tomorrow." She confirmed, assuming that he was asking for his daughter, and not just about herself. She was after all, his daughter's care taker. "Is there someone you would like Lina to be?" She could easily fit anything he needed into his daughter's schedule.

Not there to be introduced but there to spend time with his family, and . . . and her's? Smiling at him, Clara wondered if there was ever a more perfect job she could have found--and then doubted there was. "That all sounds wonderful!" She admitted, thinking of how much Lina would like to play with other children. It would be so good for her.
"I am sure my mother would welcome Lina to visit. And with permission, I would like to take her shopping while there, and to the some of the museums. I think a visit to the city would be wonderful for her." There was so much to plan for now! Lina would need some additions to her wardrobe, and perhaps some new bonnets.
Speaking of bonnets . . . "Shall we be going alone, or will Sir Gilly join us?" Though by her expression (one of knowing amusement) she already knew the answer. The little bonnet eater was coming too. Lina would be thrilled!!

Clara was just reaching for a sugar cube when he spoke the all too telling words. Her face lifted toward him in surprise, for she had thought he would send the goat to a farm. Yet after a few seconds of looking at him, her face shifted to a different expression. Perhaps it was acceptance mixed with a very slight exasperation, but the biggest expression was the pressing of her lips as she tried to hide the smile. Lina would always get the world from her father.
"Does she?" Clara asked, looking at the said father. While her tone held a playful offset, she already knew how this conversation would end. "Has one expressed to her that goats are farm animals who love the outdoors?" Doubtful. He more likely just agreed with her his daughter. Though to be fair--he was not the one who was going to be cleaning up after it.

He always spoke very highly of her in terms of his daughter, and it always made her feel a sense of pride. She had come to learn that Mr. Slade did not accept what he saw as less than perfect in his employees. It made them want to work harder to prove themselves, and she was no different--only her job was something she imagined was more enjoyable then some of his others.
"You flatter me," She told him, her smile showing her dimples. "She is an easy child to love and care for. Anyone would have been lucky to have been in my position. Despite your attempts of spoiling her, she has is still a darling." She was teasing him, and on this topic she did so many times. It was why she did not worry about offending him. He would know she did not think him really spoiling her.
Looking at them both for a moment, "You are different with her." An observation she had thought but not expressed before. It was a compliment in a way. One meant to express that she knew the effort he made, and he . . . liked it . . . or approved of it. Or maybe just that she saw it, and he was seen.

"I am unsure, but I know there will be someone to play with." "If you wish too, yes." "Very clear of you to plan around that." "I will." "You have been praticing your letters I see!" "Do goats eat cake? Perhaps a cake for us, and a hay cake for Gilly?"
When a child asked many questions, it was best to give short answers. Clara held Lina's hand and walked with her down the walking path toward the houses she used to live in. She knew there was a guard behind her, keeping an eye on them, however she tried not to draw attention to it for Lina's behalf.
"We must cross the road now, quick steps." She told her when the crossed the dusty street to get to the side her parents lived on. Her sister and eldest brother had since moved out, but there were still children there. Thankfully between some of what she was able to help her family with, and less mouths to feed, they were doing a little better then when she lived there four years ago. "Would you like to do the knocking?" She asked.

She did not have to wait long, for his directness gave her the answer soon enough. He was going to London for the season? Her face took on a very subtle surprise, but this was not as much as his next words. He wanted her and Lina to go as well? Her face turned from surprise to a smile. "You do?" He wanted them with him!
It took her a moment to realize he would need an answer, even though he had not asked her out right. "Yes," she told him, "Of course I will go with you and Lina. I would enjoy visiting London very much." After all her family was there, and this would allow her to plan a visit with them as well. And do some shopping with her savings that she had managed to save up. Even take Lina to a real book shop!
Yet there was a few questions. He kept Lina tucked away in the country, and while Clara did not know the details of what he did--the many protections in place hinted at it being less than popular with everyone. "Do you intent for Lina to be introduced to society? Or is she going simply to visit the city?"

It was easy to hear the pride in the father's voice. It was one of the many reasons she enjoyed her job very much, was in the knowledge that she worked for a good father. And of course, had such a wonderful time with the daughter. Mr. Slade commenting on her energy, followed by a complement toward her abilities; left Clara smiling brightly.
"She is much easier then my many siblings, to be sure. I enjoy her boundless energy. I fear the days would become too predictable without it." Clara loved children, and not for the first time wished that she could have s child of her own someday. Though that dream seemed distant sometimes.
"She was simply glad to be with you on this trip." Clara told him, "Though sometimes I wonder, if it is she who has you wrapped around her fingers, or if it tis the other way." Both father and daughter seemed to always know just how to get the other to do what they wanted. Be is going on a trip, or buying gifts. "She loved you very much."

Life was not easy when one had more siblings then time in the day to keep in hand. By thanks that some of them rather read or play in the garden--some other ones however, where harder to keep up with. Clara had also just revived word that the companion to a widow position she had wanted was now taken. Once again, she had not been given a job that would let her leave the house and still help the family.
As they had no servants, other than a cook and upstairs maid (two positions that were thankfully paid for by her grandfather, rather then her father), when the knock came--it was Clara who answered it. She sat a few books, and some mending that she carried down on the center table, before moving to the room and opening it with a wide smile. "Good day--"
Only to have the smile catch at the sight of a displeased looking man--and Harry. With a disappointed sigh, she reached for her brother, and lightly pulled him in and pasted her. This both managed to man her brother face her--and put herself between the upset gentleman and her younger brother. While done without though about it. "Harry," She chided before turning to face the stranger. "Apologies, sir, for whatever my younger brother has done." This time. With that comment, her eyes cut from the stranger to her brother, who then hung his head. "Might I ask what happened?" Clearly this was not the first time.
Harry often got in trouble playing with her friends. Either they were chasing animals, or running in the street. Thankfully nothing serious.

Clara tucked her young charge into bed, and once she was sleeping, tidied up the room a bit before closing the door in order to keep the warmth from the fire in the room. In her hand she held a bit of mending that she wanted to touch up on tomorrow, and dropped it off in morning room. She knew a servant could handle it, of course, however she like for Lina to see her mending. While Lina might never have to work, as Clara did, she wanted Lina to know how to take care of herself as well.
After dropping off the mending she found Mr. Slade in the drawing room. When her eyes found him, she smiled softly and paused by the door, her hand resting on the frame as she bid him a good night--however this time he asked her to linger for a moment. Something he did not normally do. "Of course," she told him, following his silent 'request' to take the seat opposite of him. "Does something trouble you?" She asked, once seated. Her legs tucked to the side neatly, and her fingers resting on her legs.
She was curious, but unworried about what he mist want to discuss. While her words where asking if something was wrong, she had not ever been given reason to worry about her position or his thoughts of her abilities to do the job. Whatever he had seen in her that first day, she assumed he still thought it.
