An innocent stroll in the poorly lit gardens had exposed him to far more than he desired to see. His brother and Mr. Granville . . . intimate. Or at least much more intimate than he ever expected the two men to be. While Anthony was no fool and knew of their friendship, he had certainly not known about this. Though upon witnessing it, the shock numbed him. He snuck back into the shadows, his presence remaining unknown. In fact, he looked around to ensure that no one else was around and went back to the garden's entrance to ensure no one else went in that direction. He felt as if he couldn't breathe until the two men returned and Anthony went about the event, though his mind fully distracted.

His wife, Kate, asking if he was alright and all Anthony could provide was a false certainty that he was. All night, his mind remained on what he had seen and the repercussions of such things. The . . . confusion the Viscount felt. Fortunately, neither Granville or Benedict seemed to realize that they had bene caught, for Anthony wasn't entirely certain he was prepared to have that conversation as of yet. He was restless all night and the subject remained unconfronted. He knew better than to immediately speak to Benedict about it so instead, once morning came, Anthony had another plan: he would confront Henry Granville instead.

It did not take long to discover the address of his studio, and once the hour was of late morning and a decent time for visitors, Anthony made his way to the other male's residence. Truth was, Anthony did not even know what he was to say. Had this been any other circumstance of witnessing his sibling intimate with another, his anger would have prompted him to immediately intervene, perhaps even with fists. Maybe Anthony's marriage sobered him from such things . . . or maybe, the shock was all too much. His mind was still trying to understand and wondered, if there was such a way to understand. There was also . . . fear. Yes, so much fear for what would happened if it was discovered. He had not even realized the distance until he was standing outside Granville's door.

He raised his hand, knocking on it and straightening himself, as always. Anthony could not even remember exchanging words with the man and now . . . he was about to bring forth a very, sensitive subject. When the door opened, Anthony looked at Granville, the heir's expression stoic and composed despite his racing mind. "Good afternoon, Mr. Granville. I apologize for coming without invitation, however I was hoping to speak with you about a matter of great import." And he hoped, the man would hear him out because . . . this, affair with his brother could not go on.

Nothing fancy, nothing overly elaborate! if you want something more detailed, feel free to PM! But the thread here is only for simple gifs! If you want two shots in one gif, I can do that as well! They all knew that she was far different from her sister, and because of it . . . the room was not as filled with courters as it had been with her. But Anthony did not compare the two. He cared for each of his dear sisters just the way they were. What he was concerned with however, was the fact that when they finally did get a proposal from a respectable Lord . . . she rejected it. Anthony knew it was his responsibility to get her married and settle into a life with her husband -- whomever that would be.

His duty as Viscount and head of this family would not be completed until ever one of his brothers and sisters were married -- Hyacinth being the last. So yes. He needed to have a serious conversation with Eloise, especially since there was another ball tonight. He had asked her into the drawing room, closing the door behind him so that they may have some privacy.

"It was a perfectly good proposal from a respectable gentleman," he began to say, still trying to understand why she said no and this was his way of opening up that conversation. There were very fond memories that Anthony held to heart from his younger years, and the man before him had been a part of them. Friend of his father, and therefore, someone that Anthony had wished to bond with as well. They had gone on hikes together, hunted together . . . and now, here they stood. And it truly felt like ages ago.

"Only ten?" He both asked and stated. "It truly feels like a lifetime," he told him, speaking aloud his thoughts. His amused smile remained as he commented on how the city had tamed him; how he had become an old man. Ah yes. The youthful carefree days were surely gone. His need to grow up having come rather abruptly. But it was without choice. He had the responsibility of his family and without his father, it was entirely up to him. But Anthony knew that they did not have to get so in depth about it.

"It is an unfortunate fate," he said jokingly. "But alas, much has indeed changed in a decade." He paused for a moment, not allowing the darkening thoughts of his father's passing come to surface nor sully the conversation. "For the both of us it would seem." For there was still a question in mind that had been part of the Viscount's surprise at seeing Roux de Corse here. But he knew they would get to that soon enough. "Come. Have a drink with me. I feel there is much to catch up on," he told him, motioning to a couple of empty chairs so that they could be at ease, and hopefully, in each other's company.

They would all need to sort out their plans as to whether they were staying in town for some time, or going to their country residences. At this moment, only Anthony's family was keeping him in town. Other than that, there was nothing. No one. How quickly things had changed.

Simon then added that he wished to come here . . . to share a drink. Anthony just watched him for another moment, not failing to recognize that the man was at least making an effort. That he was seeking him out to . . . spend time with him. Simon was part of their family now and Anthony did not wish for there to be this, tension between them. They had just been through so much. Without saying anything, he rose to his feet and moved to where he had some of the finest brandy he could offer, proceeding to pour two glasses as he returned and extended one to Simon. "A sentiment still welcome," he told him . . . or perhaps, assured him.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Finding out that Benedict was at a party that . . . sounded rather scandalous was bad enough. But the moment he found out Kate was there too, made it impossible for the Viscount to simply let it slide. He had heard from a source that Benedict was attending a party at Henry Granville's and upon further inquiry, discovered that Kate was there too. And, Anthony intended to retrieve them both. He would have words with Benedict, most certainly . . . but with Kate . . . well, things were rather uncertain between them. And even still, the protective nature that Anthony felt towards his family was seeping into his relationship with the noblewoman . . . whether he realized it or not.

The moment he opened the door, he just stared. What kind of party was this?! Certainly not one that they were used to attending. And one that no Bridgerton should ever be near! Holding back an expression of disapproval and annoyance, he began to weave his way through the crowd. There was a great deal happening and Anthony was simply trying to process it all, remaining focused on the task at hand. He couldn't even call out their names as he did not wish to draw attention. The sooner they all escaped this place, the better. With any luck, he would find the host, Mr. Granville, and ask direction from him as to where he would be able to find his brother and . . . Kate.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony gave a small nod, turning to prepare for a walk around the room with the intention of finding the man that Lewis had requested to meet. The man's laconic response and the noticabely distance he held between others, certainly had Anthony thinking. He was fortunate that the man did not reject his company, though perhaps it was out of obligation and politeness that he didn't.

Letting a few moments of silence linger, Anthony decided to try and find out more about the man in terms of his comfort levels. "Have you attended many events such as this?" He asked, knowing that perhaps that was part of the challenge he was finding here. Lewis -- as Anthony knew though did not currently emphasize -- was not a high ranking man. So perhaps this was one of the few events he attended with such company.

It would seem that Lewis preferred the company of a select few, and not the general mingling nor meeting of new people at such events. Which, held no judgement from Anthony. He knew those that were the same. Which was perhaps why he wished to ensure that his guest was at ease and did not feel he merely had to witness the evening pass by.

Anthony looked around the crowd, knowing without moving his physical position, that the requested guest must surely be somewhere . . . but he also did not want to leave Lewis on his own to find him, so after a glance around the room, Anthony turned his attentions back to Lewis. "Why don't we walk among the crowd to try and locate him. Unless you are able to spot him better than I?" Anthony suggested, a small joke made at his own expense that perhaps he missed seeing him in his quick scan of the room.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Lady Whistledown was a subject that he cared little for. The woman -- presumably -- enjoyed exposing scandals and rumors and everyone held on to it as if it were gospel. But he could not speak ill towards the people who valued her words, for his own family were included in that category. "Perhaps," he agreed.

"Though I am certain her word choice could have been better." Meaning, Whistledown could have described her in a more flattering way. Truth was of course, Anthony was not too bothered about it. He was here not for himself, but for his brother and trying to flatter and woo her was not her intention. He wished of course to be in her good graces . . . just as any head of household wished to be in the hopes of solidifying a union of marriage between two people.

Which also meant, he did not overly concern himself about what she thought of him based on what Whistledown said. So long as it did not impact her perception when it came to the Bridgerton family as a whole. "That is good and well," he told her, not wanting the focus of conversation to be him. "For I am coming to you regarding my family, or more specifically, one in particular."
