i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony watched her as she made her way over to him, her movements almost as entrancing as her singing. He smiled a little at her words of how he looked like he could use some company. "Select company," he told her. He could indeed be surrounded by many and be in the company of many men at this club. But, seeing her . . . he'd much rather her own company.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Is that so?" He added on teasingly when she stated that she happened to be great company. He titled his head to the side as he continued to keep his gaze on her. "I don't doubt that," he concluded, the pause between words only indicating that he was playfully considering it . . . when truth was, he knew it was without question. "What is your name?" He asked her, curious to know it. "I saw you perform on stage at the theatre not but 3 nights ago." And what a beautiful voice she had.

Tag: L Note: Better layout coming soon! it is my duty I AM PROTECTING YOU Anthony smiled at her response, of course understanding the teasing insult there. "Come now sister," he said a bit playfully. "I was only teasing," he added on. "Perhaps if there is no one of note, you may very well miss the usual company you find yourself among," he said with the same teasing tone . . . referring to her brothers of course.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Upon her next words . . . he was unsure whether she was still teasing him or if there was truth to them. Perhaps a bit of both. The topic of the Viscount marrying was not an unusual nor infrequent one. But he made it clear that he had no interest in courting a woman this season. He had rather . . . personal reasons for this decision. "The focus tonight is you Daphne. I shall not busy nor distract myself with such things. I shall be by your side the entire night." Something that may irritate her but it was to protect her. He knew how men thought, and he knew what was going to happen now that his sister had been named Incomparable of the season. His family was his focus, his responsibility. He would not stray from that at such events.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony smiled when she greeted him, the playfulness of the words as he returned them. "Good night," he teased in response. But . . . something was different. Something in her tone. Her demeanor. He liked to think he knew her well enough to know that. And she immediately offered him a drink. Sometimes -- most of the time -- they did not even use words to greet each other.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖
"Thank you," he said in gratitude, giving his answer as yes. He followed her to the parlor, his eyes watching her carefully. She wasn't mad at him, for she would immediately tell him so surely he had done nothing wrong this time around. So . . . what was it? Had something happened? It was not as if they never spoke but he could feel the difference in the air and he felt growing concern for her. "Is all well, Siena?" He asked, knowing there was no way around it. He wanted to, needed to know if she was alright.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony cradled a drink in his hand, smiling along with the conversation that one man seemed to be leading in a small group. He was of the mood to simply listen today, not engage in the boisterous conversation. But he smiled and chuckled along at the jokes, participated when specifically asked. There was no need for rudeness and he was after all here for the company.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Hearing his name immediately distracted him however for the voice was . . . familiar and yet not. He turned toward the source and looked at the man, who matched his voice. Yet, the familiarity was building as he continued to look at him . . . and look at him. And then moment recognition hit, his features changed as his eyes ever so slightly widened with surprise and his lips curved upwards in a smile.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Roux de Corse!" He both questions, and acknowledged. He rose from his seated position stepping towards the other male. "Good God man, it has been ages." The man all but disappeared. Anthony extended his hand in a friendly greeting. His memories of the other were from his childhood or teen years . . . before Edmund had passed away.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony noticed the ever so slight flush touch him before it quickly faded and the man continued to answer his question, commenting on how it was all splendid. He then returned the question, asking him if he too was enjoying his evening. "It is indeed no simple task," he admitted, not about to claim that hosting an event was simple and easy.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "But it holds its rewards, such as having an opportunity to converse with those I may not frequently have the pleasure of speaking with." Lewis fell into this category for while Anthony had briefly spoken to him, it was good to do so in his own home. "Perhaps you find a similar enjoyment?" He asked, steering towards the Viscount's notice of Lewis not in the company of others. "Or if there is anyone in particular you seek to meet, I would gladly make introduction." Perhaps there were those he wished to talk to, but was unable to approach them for . . . whatever reason.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony's recent state had caused him to immerse himself in paperwork. Work that he had perhaps neglected before as he preferred the bliss that came with the woman he . . . the woman that was no more in his life. It was final this time. He knew it was. She had asked him to let her go, and he had to. Offering apology, and it was perhaps, the closest to allowing tears to fall from his eyes than he ever had. Fortunately, he had stopped the. Fortunately, he had woken up from this ignorant bliss. They could not be. And it was high time he take his role as Viscount more seriously.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ That he catch up on work that was not done. That he focus on finding a wife. That he focus on preparing the rest of his siblings of age to find suitable matches. Yes. He was a Viscount and he shan't make the mistake of forgetting it again, nor putting his happiness above anything else. So instead, he read and scribbled words where necessary on the documents before him. Footsteps alerting him, and a voice announcing Duke Hastings. Basset. Simon. Anthony nodded as the man entered, prompting Anthony to pause and just watch him. He truly despised how things had unfolded between them. A man that was such a dear friend, a brother of heart . . . and a relationship that was strained by way of honor and fists.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The last time they had a conversation one to one, Anthony had scolded him for screwing up with Daphne. And Hastings, the man who knew him all too well, knew exactly what to say to prompt a reaction from him. One where Anthony all but had pounced on the man. No. This was not how he wished things to be between them. "Hastings," he greeted in return, setting down his quill and leaning back a little in his chair. He raised his hand, motioning to the chair across from him.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Perhaps it was a good thing that there was his desk between them. Not that he wished for any more strain between them. Quite the opposite in fact. Though he did not know how to achieve, and silence filled the air in what should otherwise have been ease of conversation as it had so often been between them. "What brings you here?" He asked, his tone not harsh, but not fully relaxed either.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU The moment the door opened, she pulled him in and pushed him against her vanity. Anthony's smile was short lived for her lips were soon upon him. He breathed heavily against her lips, his hands moving over her body, skimming up her side to her cheek, as the other eagerly pulled the ties to her dress, though he was even entirely certain he could wait until she was fully undressed.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ They could get to that later. Right now, he needed her. He needed to sate this burning desire for her. The built up passion ready to unleash . . . quenching a burning thirst he had for her. Hungrily kissing her, he moaned in the kiss, turning them and slightly lifting her so that she sat on the surface of her vanity, parting her legs as he stood before them.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Whatever was on her vanity that may have broke, he paid no attention to. He would replace it later. His lips moved from hers, kissing down whatever skin of her chest was exposed with the fitted dress, before moving them to the side of her neck allowing his tongue to drag along and up her soft skin it until he reached her lips once more with fervent need, and one hand sliding up her dress to caress her bare thigh under it.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Well she was rather . . . upfront. It did not seem that she wished to dance around any subject where their future would be concerned. First, she wished to persuade him to take another, and now . . . she presented the possibility that she may make him miserable. "What makes you so certain that you will make me miserable?" He asked, unsure why she had such a thought set in her mind.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Though, he supposed he could make a guess and perhaps . . . he too should be upfront and question it right here and now. "Is there another that holds your affections?" He asked. Is that why she didn't want to marry him? Is that why she believe she would make him miserable? Because her heart belonged to another. Because she wished to marry another. If that were the case he was uncertain as to what he would do. For he, did not want to make her life miserable either. But if that were not the case . . . then why so set on ensuring this union does not happen?

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony felt the threat of embarrassment upon him when she said that she had been introduced to him before. Surely, he would have remembered. Though he had met many, he seldom forgot a face . . . particularly that of Kate's. But that threat quickly dissipated when she clarified, speaking of Lady Whistledown's words. He was no stranger to them, for his mother and sisters had spoken of it; of how she spoke of him.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Had Anthony been anywhere else, in the presence of a select few, he would have rolled his eyes. But instead, he remained polite and proper, stoic and composed. Kate even went on to say the insult Whistledown had made towards her. "Well then, it is evident that she is a fraud, and that her words should not be held to heart nor truth." Making it sound as if his dismissal of Whistledown was because of her cruel words towards Kate, and not the ramblings of him being a rake.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Whistledown could not be exposed sooner. Anthony had enough of her antics when it interfered with his family and their well being. In this case, it threatened to interfere with Anthony securing a wife for his brother. "It is my hope Lady Sharma, that you would allow me the chance to speak with you, and not allow the words of a secret figure taint nor form negative preconceived notions where it comes to the Bridgerton name." Mainly him, for he needed to be in her good graces if this was to work. With Benedict being useless in the process, he needed to appeal to Kate and present the possibility through her now.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony had not known when the time would come that he would marry, but when the opportunity presented itself . . . such a time was made clear. It was not because he had met someone and had fallen madly in love. Nor was it because he was searching for a bride and found the most suitable match. No. This union had every thing to do with honoring his father's wishes, for he had been told that Edmund and his dear friend -- who happened to have a daughter -- longed for their children to be wed. To become family through marriage. And with Edmund no longer with them, Anthony accepted the wish, and set forth is proposal.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ One that was met with practically no hesitation nor uncertainty. At least, not from her father. Kate on the other hand, Anthony had yet to get to know. And, that was what today was about. They were to be wed and he should very much like to properly meet Kate and spend some time alone with her -- with the proper supervision of course. He was after all, a gentleman and would not compromise her own honor. When he arrived at her family's home, he was well greeted and informed that she was in the drawing room. Being escorted there he entered and lowered his head in a bit of a bow to return her own formal greeting.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Lady Sharma," he stated. What she said next, was completely unexpected. For, he had been expecting pleasantries. The predictable exchanges of how good of you to come, would you like some refreshments . . . but no. She plainly asked him to seek out another bride; or offer one to him. Had Anthony not spent the last decade guarding his emotions, and being as stoic as he was . . . he would have surely made this, unexpected remark known. But as it was, the flicker of slight unpredictability may have flashed across his features before quickly regaining himself. "This union is the wish of your father, and mine." Surely, she would understand that. "I have no interest in another bride." Just as plainly as she asked him, he responded in kind.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony had gone to the boxing match to enjoy it, and perhaps allow it to serve as distraction. But . . . unfortunately, such was not the case. The moment he had laid eyes on her, it was all he could think about. Not that he needed to see her to think about her. He had meant what he said to her that night; he could not think of anything else. Of anyone else. And seeing her now . . . he did not even pay attention to the man who's arm she had hers looped through. He thought only of her. Focused only on her. And suddenly, the boxing match faded into the distance. No matter how many times he tried to look elsewhere, his gaze kept falling back to her. Any attempt to avert it was futile.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But what fueled it, was the fact that she too was looking at him. The two often made eye contact, particularly during her performances. So it was not unusual . . . but this time, it was different. This time, there was much to be interpreted and yet, Anthony knew that he and Siena did not always need words to communicate. So the moment she rose from her seat, Anthony knew that he must follow. Taking a deep breath, he swallowed, looking back at the game though held no interest in it.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I will return momentarily," he told his brothers, not that they truly heard him nor cared. They just passively gave a nod as Anthony stood up, straightening his coat as he made his way to the exit. He caught the tail of her dress as it disappeared down the stairs and . . . going under the bleachers. Anthony did not even look around to see if anyone followed. He attempted to slow the beating in his chest, and ensure his steps were not too hasty though he held little to no patience.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Once there he looked at her, joining her under the bleachers and just watched her, trying to read her. Trying to understand what expression was behind her gaze and what words remained unspoken. But, he could not exercise restraint right now. His desire for her maddening in all the time they've been apart and so he acted on all the emotions that filled him when it came to her, and moved towards her, kissing her and desperately hoping in his mind that she did not reject him this time.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Benedict was hopeless. The man seemed to show on interest in getting married. He evaded conversations about it, and made himself scarce at balls. Even when Anthony provided a perfectly suitable match for him to court, he fled the notion . . . and Anthony's presence. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Kate Sharma. She was the daughter of a noble, and after his research, did not seem to have any scandal in the family. On top of that, she was a beauty, and men vied for her attentions. Why shouldn't Benedict wish to court her?
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Well, Anthony would not be so quick to let it go. In the past, he had allowed his brother to slip by but now that Daphne was wed . . . and this match was suitable, Anthony would intervene. Whether his brother liked it or not. Approaching the woman that he had yet to formally meet, Anthony politely smiled, his gaze upon another man chatting with her causing him to quickly dismiss himself. "Lady Sharma," he greeted. "I do not believe we have yet had the pleasure of being formally acquainted," he said, speaking aloud his earlier thoughts. "I am Lord Anthony Bridgerton," he introduced, slightly lowering his head in a polite bow.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony was rather proud of himself indeed! Pulling off such a prank took skill and meticulous planning. Not only to find the creature, but to apprehend it, as well as sneak it into the dorm. This was no easy task and while Anthony knew that such skills should be reserved for something more . . . productive, he knew it all would be worth it once he saw his friend's expression.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The two had become friends; good friends. And he valued this bond with the man. He was hiding around the corner, having heard Basset's approaching footsteps and revealed himself when he stepped into his room . . . only to quickly step out of it. It was at that point that Anthony could no longer stifle a chuckle, which turned into laughter upon seeing the man's face. "Something wrong Basset?" He asked rather innocently. "Why, it's almost as if you've seen a goat." Oh this was too good! If only there was a way he could capture this perfect moment, and that expression on his face. Sheer perfection indeed!

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony gave a short nod in response when Lewis spoke of the honor to be invited. He knew the man was not a high ranking individual, but it made him no less welcome nor worthy of attendance. There was after all a reason, Anthony did not mind his company and looked forward to get to know him a bit more. When he commented on the decorations Anthony paused, the Viscount's smile still in place though that was certainly an . . . unexpected compliment to be given.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I am glad to hear that you approve," he told him, going along with it for the Viscount would of course not be impolite. "Though I must admit that I had little to do with it," he added on in good nature for he was just playing along. "My mother and dear sisters enjoy it far more than I do." And even then, Eloise wasn't a huge fan of such extravagant affairs. "Are you finding all else to your liking?" He asked, having noticed that the man was standing alone before Anthony approached.

Tag: lennie1 Note: Better layout coming soon! i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU The best dad. Yes. He was. Every memory of Edmund a fond one. Anthony had idolized him, did everything to make him proud and often had said when a boy . . . that he wanted to be just like him, if that was even possible. He knew now, that it was not. That in hoping to step into the role his father once had as head of the Bridgerton household, it was indeed the very loss of him that made it impossible for Anthony to truly be like his father.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "He was," Anthony said quietly. Watching her move from her position, Anthony's arms were already open to welcome her back into, wrapping them around her smaller frame. When she thanked him, Anthony lowered himself enough to place a light kiss on the top of her head before straightening himself once more, arms still around her. "You never need thank me for that," he assured her. Whether it was sharing stories of their father, or being her brother. He only sought to make his father proud and to hear Hyacinth speak so highly of him . . . it was undeserved but so incredibly touching for Anthony to hear.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I am not sure that is saying much considering your feelings towards Gregory," Anthony said jokingly. He knew the two of them fought a lot but he also knew that if anywhere were to happen to one of them, it would be the other that would be the first there to comfort them. "But it does mean a a great deal to hear you say that Hyacinth," he told her honestly, wanting her to know that he deeply appreciated it, for he knew that many would not agree. "He loves you, Hyacinth. His way of showing it is just . . . different," Anthony assured her. It was much like when the eldest siblings were all younger and they used to annoy one another, as a way of showing affection. A lesson that Anthony had learned much later in life.
