He knew that moments like this would become more uncommon as so many of them were reaching that marriageable age. Soon, they would all have moved on with their own families. So dinners such as this, should indeed be treasured.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "I see no harm in Gregory learning the sport," Anthony stated in regards to their youngest brother learning boxing from Colin. "So long as he does not use it to inflict harm onto others." The last thing they needed was for him to become over zealous and get into a physical altercation with someone. "You have not missed a great deal," he told Eloise as she asked what she had missed. He gave a nod to Hyacinth in greeting, before taking a bite into dinner as he presumed, the tardiness of the others meant that they would not be in attendance.

❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ If there was one thing that most knew about the Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, it was that he was perhaps the most overprotective man to walk the Earth where his family was concerned. Any words spoken against his parents -- even the late Edmund -- his sisters, or his brothers . . . was not met with tolerance. And this particular occasion was no exception. They were having a luncheon at a family's residence with several others in attendance. Anthony had been mingling in one of the rooms with a few others, one gentleman among them starting to cause issue. He was making highly inappropriate remarks about one of Anthony's sisters, and the eldest Bridgerton was all too aware of it. One remark, prompted a glare. The other, prompted warning words. And the third . . . caused Anthony to lunge at him with full force. The intensity of comments matched the intensity of his reactions to them.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ His fists struck the man for his crude, inappropriate words against a member of his family. Those in the room quickly intervened, pulling the men off one another as they quickly ushered the one with the loose tongue out of the room, closing the door to create some distance between him and the Viscount. But Anthony was not done; his blood was boiling and he was heated to say the least. One -- or two -- facers was not enough punishment for what he said. Dissatisfied, he made his way toward the door, seeing a woman -- one of the guests no doubt -- standing in front of it. Whether it was intentional or she just happened to be in his path, he did not bother to ask. He was not done with the other male and so, needed to get to him. "Move away from the door and let me at him," he instructed, his voice not harsh but his anger at a high.

Tag: @edwinasharma1 i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Anthony listened as Edwina assured him that Kate would receive the best care, that he would want her to visit him and that it was alright to admit how much he cared about her. "She is my wife," he stated. "I care about her emphatically." That, was not the difficult part to admit. What had been difficult, was admitting that he was in love with her. The realization and willingness to accept it being what prompted him to rush towards her, needing to tell her the news right away.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He had imagined it to be this wonderfully, romantic moment and instead . . . could have sworn his heart stopped beating for a moment when he saw the danger she had been placed in. "I have no intention of leaving her side," he added. The reason he was doing so now was because her maid was assisting her with cleaning and, she was better trained to help Kate in this way considering her injury than Anthony could be. "You are welcome to remain the night if you desire," he offered, should Edwina want to stay in their home so that she could be close to her sister for additional support during this time.

random number generator selected 20. My muse is sick and continues daily routine even though they seem on the verge of passing out.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Anthony had known when marrying Kate Sharma, that money was not in excess among the family. They had after all, not married for such reasons. The Viscount -- despite his previous refusal to accept the notion -- loved his wife and with that, came the desire to give her all that she longed for, so that she would never want for anything. Kate however, was a practical woman and not one who was overly indulgent. It was the actions he did for her family that meant more than buying her jewels and expensive gowns. Providing a dowry for Edwina for instance, had gained her such gratitude that it warmed Anthony's heart. So for her upcoming birthday, he wished to do something special for her that he felt she would never do for herself.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Among the Bridgerton estate, there were portraits for his family; whether it was just the daughters, the sons, the parents . . . they were mounted on the walls throughout the home. And, he wanted to add the Sharmas to it as well. Starting with a portrait of Kate, Edwina and Mary. Anthony had commissioned one of the most notable artists in the ton, Henry Granville to do this task. He had seen the results first hand after all, and highly admired the artist's skills. However, the day was not going according to plan. The Sharmas had been running late in getting ready, Mary was delayed in joining them -- though would be here soon -- and Anthony . . . had fallen in. Though he refused to admit it. The night had been riddled with fever, and the morning it had taken him slightly longer to emerge from bed.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He refused to sleep the day away, despite how heavy his entire body felt, the lack of appetite, vomiting whatever little was in his stomach . . . and the coughs and sporadic fevers that came throughout. Whatever it was, would surely pass with time. So hearing that Granville had arrived, Anthony would have to make apology for what he knew would be just a short wait . . . and compensate him should he be displeased by it. Entering the room that had been set up for the portrait, Anthony gave a smile -- not recognizing how weak it had come out on his paled features. "Mister Granville," he greeted. "Thank you for coming." He paused for a moment, trying to catch his breath, his body weakness leaving him winded even in just short bouts of action. "My sincere apologies. We are slightly behind schedule," he informed him.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU Seeing the tears in her eyes, made his heart ache. With four younger sisters, his protective nature particularly where women were concerned was not something that could simply be switched off. Despite the times where he wished it could. So seeing women that he cared so deeply for, Siena in this case -- and the one he had been with the longest out of any other woman or mistress, made him have to fight back the instinct he felt to reach out and hold her in his arms. To offer any form of physical comfort, for Anthony was a man of action more than words. But . . . boundaries had been set. She was not his anymore, and he was not hers. They did not belong to each other and so, he had no right to.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Instead, all he could do was watch helplessly as he could see her . . . hurting. But then, she asked to talk. Anthony did not dare hope that she wished to reconcile. He knew he had ended things at one point between them, believing it was for the best . . . yet there was also that belief -- that consistent pattern -- that they always found their way back to each other. His heart could not afford to believe that this would be the case. It could not suffer the disappointment nor the breaking of it for a second time. "Yes," he confirmed. Perhaps he should have said no. Perhaps he should place that distance. But . . . such feelings for someone did not just go away. "Where shall we do so?" He asked, assuming that the public street was not the place. But, could he trust himself in private with her? He had to. He knew that he had to but it would indeed, become that much more difficult. So instead, he would give her that choice and go based on her own comfort; on her own preference.

come with me I WANT YOU THERE BY MY SIDE Anthony was unsure what he was feeling inside of him. Butterflies. Nerves. Excitement. Yes; a combination of all these things . . . but perhaps the strongest, being excitement. He had never attended a ball with a woman he cared so deeply for upon his arm. The idea of all this was just so -- how had Siena put it when he first asked -- fantastical. And yet, it was happening. She would be at his side during the ball and no one would dare say a damn thing. He knew he was a Viscount, and with it came certain responsibilities . . . but for the first time, his heart was dominating his head and he just wanted that happiness he found with Siena. Was it truly, so wrong of him to wish for it? To long for it? To act upon it? No matter how many times he tried to distance himself from her, he just couldn't. He always found himself drawn to her . . . and time spent with her, was far better than time spent apart.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ So tonight, for the first time, he was actually looking forward to an event. He had carefully selected the perfect bouquet for her, wanting this night to be special. Magical. And everything that she would ever desire. For her mere presence alone, was making his night the most perfect one he could have hoped for. Pausing before knocking on her door, he took a small step back, shifting a bit in his spot. Why did he feel nervous? He never got nervous about such situations. While he made no show of out, he felt it . . . his heart beating heavier in his chest as there was this, eagerness. An eagerness to make this night . . . perfect.

i will ALWAYS PROTECT YOU The closing of the season had not quite been what Anthony had expected. It had not quite been the happy finish one may have hoped for. He was glad to see his sister and Simon had resolved whatever conflict arose between them, and they currently remained two of a select few -- only family at the moment -- with whom he had shared his intentions to find a way in the next season. It was not a decision he made lightly, and one he had practically spent the entire evening before first verbal acknowledgement of it, contemplating. But after how things with Siena had ended . . . he needed to learn from it. He needed to learn how foolish he was, for being so attached to a woman he could clearly not have.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ The days that followed felt, mundane. Yet they were filled with wrapping up the events of the past few months. Today's schedule brought Anthony to the city to run some errands, grateful to find something -- anything -- to occupy his time and thus, keep from dwelling on the pain from recent events. He was stopped in the streets by a familiar face, conversing with the man amicably enough . . . when he felt someone bump into him. He turned around to face her, a what would have been polite and reassuring smile numbed at the surprise of who he saw. It was her. Anthony attempted to quickly recover himself, straightening his shoulders as his eyes fixated on her. What cruelty was this, that he see her so soon when wounds have not yet even begun to heal.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Miss Rosso." The formality nearly destroyed him and yet . . . it was necessary. So necessary after their last conversation. To be so filled with hope, only to have it crashing down to the harsh reality of this world. "My apologies." For it was the polite thing to do, to apologize for the collision and yet . . . the words felt, flat. While he meant them, his defenses blocked the deeper meaning of the words. An apology, for everything . . . and yet he dare not unleash that onslaught of emotions. Not when he was still attempting to put himself back together, piece by piece. Yet, seeing her now . . . threatened it cause it all to crumble.

random number generator selected: 10. getting drunk! Anthony was not one to overly indulge in alcohol, however recent events . . . no, recent realizations. He had been set on courting the diamond of the season, Edwina Sharma. And instead . . . felt drawn to her sister. This was not the way it was supposed to happen. His choice in who to marry should have been simple. He was never going to allow himself to love anyone so the answer to who he should make his Viscountess should have been straightforward. But instead, her damn sister had caused . . . complications. Not because she objected to the union -- he quite enjoyed the challenge of winning her over, at least in the beginning.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Until it turned into loathing her interference. But rather . . . because Anthony thought of her more often than he liked. Especially at night time, alone, in his bed . . . the idea of it all had caused him to attempt to numb it with alcohol. And eventually, he had lost track. He was currently in his study, within what he presumed to be an empty house . . . but if anyone was home, he had quite lost track of it all.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ He was taking drink, after drink, after drink. It was unplanned for otherwise, he should have done so at the club. With any luck, he would pass out before anyone found him, for he much preferred to be found unconscious rather than drunk. Taking another large gulp, the floor flung open and he sharply turned to look at it. "Don't you ever knock?" He questioned, though his tone lacked annoyance and came out a bit more flat. Whoever it was had found him drunk . . . and whoever it was, there was two of them!

random line generator selected: Whatever you're going to ask, the answer is No! Anthony was busy in his study catching up on paperwork. With everything happening, there did not seem to be enough time in the day to be fully caught up on everything. He had completely lost track of time, immersed in his work that came along with being a Viscount. Fortunately, it was an understood rule amongst his family that when he was in the study working, he was not to be disturbed. Although there were of course occasions that were an exception to this. So he was not entirely surprised when he heard footsteps approaching.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Raising his head for a brief moment to see Gregory enter. Though he had not let his gaze linger, his eyes dropping back down to the paper as he scribbled in some numbers with his quill . . . he recognized that expression. That rather, sweet smile which indicated that Gregory wanted or needed something. "Whatever you're going to ask, the answer is no," he told him, still not looking up. He doubted it was an emergency of any sort . . . but it would appear important enough for the youngest Bridgerton son to enter his study.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY While Anthony did understand what it was to be fond of a beautiful woman -- countless mistresses being rather indicative of that -- he did not know what it was to be in love. Nor did he factor in the notion to any thought of finding a wife. He had removed the concept of love when it came to finding a Viscoutness. Though his reasons, far more deep seated than anything he was able to speak about. Not only was there the acceptance that he was not going to live beyond the years of his father . . . but there was also the belief that duty trumped love. And that it was more important than whomever he found, was a suitable match. Being the eldest son, and Viscount, his duties and responsibilities to his family always came first.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Though, it seemed that Alexander held a different mindset. Preferring love over all else and well, if she was indeed a suitable match, then why the hell not. "I am happy for you then. That you have found someone you so deeply care for." Because, Anthony's own parents had been a love match. Daphne and Simon as well. Anthony was not opposed to another finding love that led to marriage. He just knew that for himself . . . it was not an option. When he brought up Anthony's own declaration of wishing to wed, Anthony took another sip of his drink, his cigar coming just in time for him to take a puff of it with ease. Slowly releasing the smoke, leaning further back in his chair, he continued.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "Indeed," he confirmed. "It is rather difficult though, to weed through all the potential women," he said with a hint of playful arrogance. While he was not overly choosy, he did wish for someone that would be fitting of the role. Being the wife of a Viscount after all, had its duties and he wanted -- no, required -- someone who held knowledge in that area. Even marginally. Eager to hear the name of the future Countess, when Alex revealed it, Anthony's smile ever so slightly faltered, making quick recovery of it by taking another puff of his cigar. Helena Bishop. Yes; he knew of her family and had briefly made her acquaintance.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ But . . . she was not of nobility. So the answer surprised the Viscount. That Alexander sought to court a woman so far below his station. "I see," he began to say, without an ounce of judgement in his voice. "And what does your family say of this?" He questioned, wondering if his father was accepting of his choice. For it was indeed, a decision that would effect his entire family . . . inclusive of the matches for his sisters as well. So before giving his own opinion, he was curious to hear what the Davenport family thought of this union.

i am a viscount IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY Anthony smiled in appreciation at his friends words, stating that he could never be a bad friend. "Thank you," Anthony responded, a dual purpose to his words; one for the complimenting statement and the other when the eldest Davenport handed him a drink. Alexander then continued to say that this season was different than any other . . . further revealing that he had found his bride. Anthony's smile brightened, raising his glass in cheers. "Well congratulations, Davenport," he said with sincerity.
❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ "A cheers to finding your wife." Though the words of might were indeed intriguing. For with Alexander having remained married thus far, it would mean that he had not yet found a suitable match. Yet now that he found one . . . that word still caused potential uncertainty. Unless of course he merely meant it in such a way that nothing was finalized yet. Either way, Anthony was happy for him. He took a sip of his drink, swallowing the beverage before continuing. "Would I know the future Countess?" Anthony asked, curious to see if it was someone he or his family was well acquainted with.
