Dear Sir Crane,
Your letter was a great comfort and pleasant surprise in an otherwise uneventful and unexciting week. Another perfectly interesting music hall occurred the night before receiving this. Though the players were not horrid, I certainly found myself momentarily strained and dulled from the company and the desire to be home, writing something. Anything. I apologize about the eagerness in which you receive this reply, I simply found myself wanting, or rather needing to reply as quickly as possible. Do not strain or push around your schedule in order to reply back. Though I can be impatient, waiting for a reply only makes me ponder what I can write to you next about.
Music hall’s aside, it has been a rather uneventful few days in the Ton. Most of it has been spent attempting to finish my novel, and when I haven’t been writing I have been promanding with my friend, Penelope. Most of the time I have been dragging her through the gardens on either of our estates and parks, on a secret scavenger hunt to find some of the flowers you have written about or have sent. I have found that I have several favorite flowers, most of which are in the purple variety, my favorite color. The lavenders look nice, as do the catmint, the monkshood, bell flowers, and irises, I find myself especially drawn to the anemone. I cannot tell you why, of course but something about it is simply catching my eye. I am thinking of asking my mother to see about finding some to plant at our estate. Do you grow any or perhaps have any tips on growing them?
Speaking of, I must ask how the gardens and plants at your estate are. Do you have a favorite of the plants that you are growing? Any particular plants that are having an interesting season so far?
Hopefully I shall have something more exciting to share upon my next letter ( though I may warn it will likely be a recount of some dreadful ball… I fear many of those await me in the coming weeks ). Until then, I further hope that you are well. Wishing you the best.
Signed,
E. Bridgerton
